Some more news for the future TSX models:

"TSX: The popular TSX sedan is slated to get a horsepower increase for the 2006 model year. A redesign is scheduled for the 2007 or 2008 model year at which time, sources say, coupe and convertible models may be added. It is also possible that Acura may offer a V-6 for the next generation."

Question Leasing TSX within 3 weeks

Just wondering if there's an estimate for the MSRP of 06 TSX. I talked to a dealer a week ago and she can get me 05 TSX for $2000 under MSRP. But new 06 TSX will have no discount for sure. So even if MSRP stays the same, it's at least $2000 difference. If MSRP was to raise, it would be a $2000+the raise difference. Is this worth the extra stuff new in the 06?

Thanks for any feedback.

your asking us?

Ask yourself if the extra stuff is worth $2000 to you.

I think Autoweek is just grasping. What Honda V6 engine would fit in the TSX? I am under the impression they don't have one that will, and I seriously doubt Honda will make one just for the TSX. I think we'll see a I5 or even a turbo I4 before we'll see a V6 in the TSX.

Go ahead and buy the 2005 now -- because once they're all gone dealers will start dealing on the '06s.

Doesn't the Accord have a V-6 in it?

The engine bay of the TSX and the Accord does not differ by enough to prevent a 6 cyl from fitting under our hoods.

The Accord is bigger. A couple inches in either direction can make a difference. The 5th gen V6 Accord had a longer front end than the 4 cyl. models. And not by much either. I think it was something like 1.7" or whatever.

Question Buying 2005 TSX Thursday

I am purchasing and picking up a 2005 TSX on Thursday for my wife and wondered if I should hold off??? I would love more Torque at the low end and wonder about the "06". (also sounds like big changes when 2 dealers mininmized the changes saying only interior changes like computer readout...

I ended up $577 under invoice and felt I got a good deal...

03, 04, 05, now 06 face it cars like computers age rapidly when wieghed against the latest and greatest. As a proud owner of a 03 ( called 04) I though I could have avoided the door rattle recall if only I had bought in 04. I have wondered about the XM pimple, passenger seat motors, lighted stearing wheel controls (if only I had held out two years). Now I wonder about the extra 10 ponies, torque, rear lights and memory seat settings (if only I had held out for 3 years).

But if I had held out I would have been driving an aging 94 Civic coupe with manual seats, cassette deck 124 hp engine, no ABS, no VSA with a poor AC system -- instead I have been enjoying my TSX. Which worse case is a wee bit slow off the line, doesn't sport the XM zit, and my passanger has to adjust their own seat using muscle power while cool air blows upon their faces.

Live in the "now". Enjoy what you have. Buy when you want. Be happy.

Freaky idea, I know.

The article clearly says "for the next generation". Therefore clearly the current limitation about putting more weight or not enough space in the front doesn't apply. They could redesign the whole thing, making the car bigger, moving the front axle forward, and allowing the car to have a V6 AND still have good balance.

Good point. You can't buy cars, computers, or electronics with the next generation in mind.

Joining the Acura family and wanting the 2006 TSX

This is my first post. I found this community because I wanted to find out about the 2006 TSX before going out and buying the 2005 TSX. I was brought into the Acura showroom because I really like the TL and discovered the TSX. I still like the TL but the 60/40 split fold down rear seats better suits my needs. I also like the better fuel economy, the lower price and the side mirrors with the signal indicators.

It looks like the 2006 will have the two things that I missed from the TL which is the memory seats and the bluetooth. The added horsepower will also be nice although the existing horsepower was just fine.

The Acura salesperson today told me that the 2006's will arrive in December. I will join the Acura family then.

(Years ago I was in the Honda family with a 1976 Honda Civic CVCC, 1977 Accourd coupe and later on with other Civics and a 1985 prelude.)

Excited!

Am I the only person who thinks that a V6 would be a bad choice for the TSX? Compared to an inline-four, it would add more weight and more torque steer (more torque=more torque steer). As long as you're going to have a FWD sport sedan, I think a high-revving inline-four is actually a better choice than a torquey V6.

I agree with you. My TSX reminds me of my old Prelude and I'd like to keep it that way.

^^ i agree honda needs to leave the V6 out of the car. with a turbo, little firmer suspension and thicker rear sway, this chassis is great. no need to upset it!

Based on the posts here and what my local dealer told me (like they really know ), it looks like Canadian dealerships are anticipating a Nov/Dec timeframe, while American dealerships are looking at Sept/Oct. Is this consistent with past years?

Smile Mine's Ordered

I ordered my '06 early this week (put the $500 down and all). Dealer said it would be here in November.

I've been talking to a lot of dealers over the last month, so here are the hints I've picked up:

-- The manager of a dealership where 2+ hours of negotiation left us $500 apart on an '05 told me, when I said I'd be going for an '06 instead, "well, the deal will be the same."

-- Last Sunday the sales manager where I ordered my '06 said the price increase would be 1/2 % over the '05.

-- Based on asking them all when full info will be out, I think it will be next week.

(Oh, yeah, White/Parch 5AT, my first AT ever. I'm getting old.)

2006 TSX - increased production?

I'll be purchasing a 2006 TSX whenever they come out, and I recently emailed back and forth with about 5 dealers in the DC-Metro area.

One mentioned to me that he believed Acura would be increasing production of the 2006 around December of this year. Specifically, he said: "We do expect Acura to increase production after December to help meet the overwhelming demand for the 2006 TSX." I was under the impression that the TSX production facility was almost already maxed out re: production. Is the salesman correct?

I was just wondering about this. Thanks.

Didn't the Euro Accord (TSX) come out in Japan in 2002 and won car of the year there in 2003? So, I would assume that the next generation Accord there in Japan will show up in either Fall 2006 or 2007. Then, we could see how the next generation TSX will look like based on this.

JDM Accord came out in October 2002. The European spec Accord came out one month before the debut of the TSX.

what are the chances that the restyle could include other JDM parts like the Modulo full bumper. that would be an easy way to further separate the tsx from the usdm accord (ie. make it sportier) without a lot of work...

just a thought. stealing from parts bins isn't always a bad thing.

The October Road & Track has a small picture of the 06 TSX.

- head lights look the same, maybe a tad slimmer
- grill is slimmer and less pronounced. They have a small body color strip between the hood and the grill and have removed the chrome trim from the hood too.
- fogs are integrated into the air intake in the lower portion of the bumper and not in the bumper like the RL.
- alloys are nine oval, slim bars. I like the current ones better though.
- the lower body sill is a bit more pronounced to stand out more
- 3/4 front view only, so no rear shot

Overall the restyle is very subtle with the fogs standing out the most.
