TSX
The TSX has built a strong following among sports sedan buyers, won a plethora of awards (including being twice named to Car & Driver’s 10Best Cars list) and gained a reputation for being both stylish and fun to drive. For 2006, Acura made some dynamic changes to the TSX to enhance its performance, make the styling even sportier and increase interior comfort. The result is a sports sedan that is more luxurious, more aggressive-looking and even more fun to drive.
Modifications to the intake and exhaust systems were made to the TSX’s 2.4-liter i-VTEC™ four cylinder engine to boost horsepower to 205 hp SAE net (Rev 8/04). Interior enhancements include an upgraded navigation system, the HandsFreeLink™ wireless telephone interface, and a digital media auxiliary jack located in the center console for iPod® and MP3 players to name a few.
Outside, the TSX gets sporty, redesigned front and rear fascias, new sidesills, redesigned alloy wheels and standard integrated fog lamps.
Powertrain
Horsepower increased to 205 SAE net (Rev 8/04) @ 7000 rpm
Torque increased to 164 lbs-ft. SAE net (Rev 8/04) @ 4500 rpm
Larger intake valves
Increased valve timing and lift
Increased intake and exhaust flow
Reduced engine pumping losses
Chassis
Electronic Brake Assist
Increased rigidity of upper A-arm reduces NVH
Exterior Styling
Restyled hood and grille
Redesigned headlights and combination taillights
Redesigned front and rear bumpers
Fog lamps are integrated into the lower bumper
More pronounced side sills
New nine-spoke alloy wheels
Flat wiper blades increase visibility and reduce wind noise
Four new exterior colors: Alabaster Silver Metallic replaces Satin Silver, Glacier Blue Metallic replaces Meteor Silver Metallic, and Deep Green Pearl, and Royal Blue Pearl are added
Interior
2-position memory for driver’s seat
Auxiliary audio jack in center console for digital music players
HandsFreeLink™ wireless telephone interface
Sports steering wheel
Multi-info display
New meter face
New wood-patterned trim for models with Parchment interior
Metallic garnish added to shift knob.
Smart Maintenance system
Enhanced Acura Navigation System (optional)
Larger buttons and fonts
Faster processing speed
Points of Interest (POI) database increased to 7 million
HandsFreeLink calling to POI
More voice recognition commands (653)
Zagat restaurant guide

"SAE Net Horspower In 1972, American manufacturers phased in SAE net horsepower. This is the standard on which current American ratings are based. This rating is measured at the flywheel, on an engine dyno, but the engine is tested with all accessories installed, including a full exhaust system, all pumps, the alternator, the starter, and emissions controls. Both SAE net and SAE gross horsepower test procedures are documented in Society of Automotive Engineers standard J1349. Because SAE net is so common, this is the standard we will use to compare all others."
The J1349 is what Acura is following. Essentially the SAME as prior HP figures, but this time stated to be within J1349 spec (all accessories on, ie A/C, power steering pump, alternator, etc, etc... not JUST the engine).
IMO, this is the same method of measuring as before, just with a stated-standard attached to it because of the recent RX-8 problem with them overstating their HP, etc...
Also IMO, the list of features for the '06 TSX doesn't seem THAT much better to warrant any trade-ups. I am happy without NAV, and won't go with NAV. I'd only use it for the non-navigation-related crap anyhow. As for the memory seats, who cares - I'm the only one that drives it. Exterior styling? What's to change? I love it as-is!
Add an Injen CAI and a hondata and you'll stomp all over the '06 TSX by the looks of it. Although, a cam swap might be in order if they tinkered with that.

I'd love to see pictures of the new colors as well as the interior. Should be interesting. It cheeses me that they finally decided to add an "Auxiliary audio jack in center console for digital music players".

I like my 05 TSX, cause the new 06 Design might look Gay
Glad to hear the new changes, But at the same time, GLAD that I have the 2005 TSX, because I really like the 05 exterior/interior, and I might not like the new design of 2006, even though the inside features sounds good.

This is the TSX MMC year, it will run a couple more years, then, will redesign. in 08.
Though this sounds like a major MMC mind you, not only new front and rear ends, they made interior dash/cluster changes ... which was my only nitpick I had on the 05's....
mmmm
Want Pics!

As far as the HP changes, its making things confusing, but we are seeing the REAL HP figures for all cars, not a rounded number all manufacturers fudge a little to look a lil better than the competition.
Looking at the RSX, Acura rated the 05 K20Z engine 210 hp, now its only 201 SAE hp. loss of 9 horses....
Now here with the TSX, it received a reported 10 hp bump, but with the new figures rates 205 SAE hp making it more like 212 hp (rounded to 215) under the old system.
The old 05 K24 was rated 200 hp under the old system but was more like 192 SAE hp under the new.

Damn all these things that I wanted in the TL that I could justify....
I just hope the price is more than what I paid for my 04 last year so its not justified for me to trade up.

These changes don't really upset me, an extra 5-10 horses? I get that with the CAI already anyway. Upgraded navi? Unless it has real time traffic like the RL, how much can the upgrade really be? Memory seats are a bit overrated to me, but thats just a personal thing. I would like to have the bluetooth though.
I doubt the style changes are gonna make the car look drastically better, when i look at previous style upgrades Honda has done, i'm not all that impressed...i'm just happy that Honda is improving the cars and not sitting back and letting Lexus and BMW run away.

Anyone getting an 06 can at least boast that it has more HP (1) than the IS250. ![rofl](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/rofl.gif)
If the IS250 price of $27,xxx for the base IS250 is true, Acura won't be able to raise the price much. It seems like with every makeover you get a better car for about the same amount of money. With all of these upgardes maybe the resales of current TSX will come down a bit off some really high figures.
Biker, who was thinking of getting a low milage used 05 but may have to consider an 06 now.

Dang it, I would have liked all those upgrades, but I'll be fine..
Bluetooth would be sweet, but I'll live with an earpiece..
I'm not sure what upgrades they will give with the navi, so I can't speak on that..
An MP3 jack would be nice, but I would actually prefer one to be hidden rather than have wires spewing from the head unit..
Sure it would have been nice to have those features built in, but life goes on..
