If I have my cell phone in the same pocket as my key fob, keyless lock/unlock fails to work. As soon as I pull the cell phone or the key fob out of that pocket, keyless lock/unlock works.

Normally, I carry my cell phone and wallet in one pocket and the the key fob in the other so this is not an issue.

I noticed this by accident but it is 100% reproducible.

I have an iPhone SE 2022 but I can't imagine this is specific to that model.

Anyone else notice this?

 

yes, this isn't specific to Acuras, my other cars have an issue with this as well, it's just plain ol' interference.

 

I have a Google Pixel phone and can't have it and the fob in the same pocket either.

 

Yes have noticed this with our 2020 RDX as well. We have a 2016 RDX and not sure it does the same but haven't specifically noticed or tested it.

 

Similar for a iPhone. Also - my fob battery tends to not last that long (4-7 months) either.

 

Battery life sounds low. Mine lasts at least 2 years.

 

I'm slightly over 2 years on original fob batteries. When you are home, any chance you keep the fob within a few feet of the vehicle?

 

Nope - but I use "walk away lock" setting which appears to use more juice IMO.

 

Hey maybe you're using cheap batteries.

 

For whatever reason, amazon and drugstore batteries only seem to last me 1-2 months.

I found batteries at my Acura dealer parts counter last me over a year. I don't know what is different about them.

Freshness isn't going to matter on a properly made lithium coin cell. Typical self-discharge spec is 10% over a 10 year period -- it's shelf life is better than yours or mine. I have a bathroom scale powered by a non-replaceable lithium coin cell, which I have been using for 25 years.

I've been getting about 15-18 months out of my battery for my 2020 RDX and 24+ months for my 2016 RDX.

 

So your comment about freshness of the various sources of unused battery doesn't apply.

My preferred brand has been Energizer.

Currently I'm on month 15 of the original battery from Acura. On my 2019 RDX which I had for ~4.5 years (10/2018 - 3/2023), I changed the battery only once.
