I think the new SAE numbers are confusing people quite a bit. This press release also listed the ......

06' TL = 258 HP (SAE)
06' RL = 290 HP (SAE)

I would guess the 04' and 05' models would be judged at 190 HP from the looks of this, possibly less.

This means that the jump in HP for 2006 was at least 15 HP, not too bad. Also read that they actually increased the size of the intake valves!

thats it! i'm gonna fill up my gas tank and drive my car straight into the Honda headquarters yelling praise allah you bishes!

I heard it was gonna have 240hp from the salesman at acura. But we all know what kind of retards they are. I'm sure anything the 06 has, we will be able to put on our 04s and 05s so i'm not too worried.

damn! this sucks. i don't mind them modifying the interior but not all of these:

Restyled hood and grille
Redesigned headlights and combination taillights
Redesigned front and rear bumpers
Fog lamps are integrated into the lower bumper

i don't like that one bit because it's gonna make our current model look kinda outdated ( a bit maybe?) when the 06 comes out.

oh well

If you buy the 06 model you might have the Hondata reflash by 2008.

For people who think the power only went up 5HP, you need to be aware they are measuring HP a different way now. To put things in perspective, there used to be a 70HP difference between the TL and TSX and now with the upgrades to the 2006 engine that difference is only 53HP. Lookin at it that way it looks more like a more substantial 17HP increase.

All that being said, what I am MOST excited about is the memory setting for the drivers seat!!! I'm so glad I waited for the 2006. Oh, the the aux input is nice too.

So where are the pics?????

I'd be interested in seeing the new exterior styling. Not that I'll be looking to buy or trade in anyway. I'll be moving up for my next car. Maybe a TL.

Good point. I'm already upset and haven't seen any pics yet. Some ppl may be right that we might be able to put the 06 parts on the 05- 04's. Still, with the hood, grill AND light changes, I'd bet they wouldn't be the same fit.

Aren't the fog lights in 2nd gen TL integrated as well? I didn't need to replace the whole bumper when the bottom left cracked.

Oh well, I'm glad I have the 05 at a time when Acura was making deals. Even though there is a load of new stuff, the possible price increase + requisite stealership price gouge would make me think twice about buying an 06. Its likely I would have had to wait until next summer here in SoCal to get a good deal. No thanks.

...Now how do I make up 15+ horses??

No one in the entry level sedan market has been able to raise prices much if at all. Look at the new 3 series - virtually the same price for a whole new model - not a refresh. If the price rumors for the IS are true, the IS 250 will be LESS than the outgoing IS300 - and overall the IS250 seems to be a much better car.

I'd venture to guess about a $500 increase. The real increase will be higher since dealers will not be discounting as much as the 05s at the begining of the MY.

I still see TSXs going for $26-27K by Dec. With agressive pricing the IS might hurt TSX sales. Acura had to make these changes to keep up with the competition.

By the way, to some of the points about this being an early redesign...

If you ignore the North American market by itself, the general TSX platform (including the Euro Accord) has been around for a few years.

It could be argued that it's due.

Regardless, it sounds good on paper. I'd definitely would like the memory seats. Can't wait to see pics.

Why is this myth being repeated? The TSX is based on the EuroAccord platform that came out 1 month before the TSX. That's it - one month (3/03 vs 4/03).

The redesign was needed due to the competition. Acura has maybe finally learned the BMW roll out style - to keep up the sales you have to keep adding content and not leave some model get stale.

Yeah, my first reaction was, "Boy, do I have bad timing!" for getting an '05 now, but I got a decent price for a car that I like, so what's the problem? It's not like I could wait 6 months to a year anyway! I think not only will the price go up slightly, it would be a lot harder to get a good deal, particularly when it first goes on sale, but who knows, maybe we'll be surprised in Dec. with people saying what good deals they got.

...Now how do I make up 15+ horses??
WELL, that is the question. Someone here said that we could add on whatever parts, but I don't think it'll be that easy. Besides, they don't exactly say where they've made all of their changes. "exhaust"? "intake"? The changes could be anywhere, including the ECU, and then we're back to just doing all of the usual mods hoping for the best... Sorry, hard for me to get excited, as there is no guarantee that the older models will benefit much, but I don't see a point in getting mad at Acura for upgrading the line. Some of the tech may "trickle down", and I'll be reading to see what y'all come up with. I'll just be less adventurous.

I don't think I'll be upset unless Hondata figures out the '06 ECU before the '05!

I think if they did not recalculate HP using the new SAE specs, there would actually be a higher HP gain, probably 210ish hp.

I base this on the fact that the RL went down 10 hp and the TL went down 12 hp.

Oh yeah, need pics!

very true. since the a-spec package is not selling well, honda may just incorporate the suspension and RSB into the models and just increase the price to compensate.

maybe they'll do that on the '07 MY cars.

Can someone with electronics background speculate on the ability to add the new 06 hands free link to an 05 with Navi? That was the one feature in the TL that I actually wanted but didn't want to pay the jump to the TL for..

This is why I started leasing instead of buying. I trade too often. I bought a first model year 2003 Toyota Matrix XRS. The next year they make all sorts of little changes I wish I would have had. I bought it 11/02 and traded it 5/05. I have my TSX for another 36 months (39 month lease). I figure I will be turning it in right when the 2009 TSX comes out which should be the second year of the redesigned car if Honda does the normal 4/5 year model life span. I am happy with my 2005 TSX W/Navi....just want the damn bluetooth...maybe its just an add on module and new DVD software to get it to work with my 05....if not....just 36 more months.

That HP bump might actually be pretty significant in terms of acceleration numbers.(I would call a couple tenths significant) Can't wait to see a dyno of the revised motor!

Bluetooth support !!!

Exactly what I was waiting for.

But this comment about "sporty" styling changes have me worried, don't want it to start looking like a souped-up car.

Any guesses about what the new MSRP might be? I really wonder if Acura is going to risk crossing the 30k threshold for the Navi. And to those of you that bought the '05 model when it was released last year, did the dealers back then given any discounts at all, or did you pretty much have to pay sticker?

Considering they raised the msrp $500 for lighted steering controls, power pass seat, and heated mirrors, i'd say the navi msrp will be over 30K. Navi msrp is at 29,760 right now. I'm guessing all these additions will raise it more than $240.

Agreed....I hope we 05ers stay ahead of the 06ers in the mod game, especially if they revise intake, exhaust, hondata, etc. Fitment, compatibilty, might limit what they get initially.

Besides, is this really a competition? Can't be angry at honda.... if and when I replace the TSX, I'm sure it'll be better than the 06 TSX. That's life.

Anybody think that the hondata reflash will be obsolete? I mean, the changes in the 06 is much more than just a ECU reflash, it has higher lift, faster timing, better breaking intake and exhaust. I wonder if Hondata will invest any time and money into the R&D of 06 TSX

Things always improve, so get over it.

Japan or Europe Honda site may provide some earlier updates?

This is the Japan site, of TSX (or Accord) http://www.honda.co.jp/auto-lineup/accord/

And this actually says "4WD": http://www.honda.co.jp/auto-lineup/a...e-p/index.html

Too bad I can't read Japanese.

The 2006 price list is up at hondanews.com and the MSRP price on the TSX is .... (drum roll please)... TBA! All the models except the RSX are TBA. And nothing actually on the changes yet, although I'm sure the first post on here is correct.

And for the person who was told no 6MT, it is listed.
