I didn't make it to the track last night after all. I wasn't gonna run cause of the heat and humidity, but my friends were supposed to. But they backed out. They both have slightly modded new GTs, and they were gonna race each other, but one guy isn't fully recovered from his knee surgery, so he didn't want to run after all.

Ahhh, but cooler and drier temps are in our near future.

We probably want to do something in October if possible.

sorry I couldn't go kick it this past w/end... was spendin' time with a g/f... anyways I sohuld get my car back in a few weeks... maybe I'll make a drive back to Dallas when it gets more FALL like out there and we can go to the tracks to run sometimes... I raced a I/H/E CLS auto the other day... it was a guy on here with the sn sidemarker... I spun around in 1st gear and spun 2nd quite a bit as well... he was 2 car lengths ahead of me by the time I hit 3rd but I just completely pulled on him and beat him by the time I got to 70... can't wait to get my car back so I can get the CT springs/sways and my intake on... headers will come on soon as OBX comes out with headers for a 6sp...

That g/f things is pretty important . . .

Anyway, let us know how it goes with the repairs. It's always stressful wondering if it's coming back the same.

As for the race, 'ed him hun. Well you better work on your launch if you are going to take any of us.

BTW - where does your buddy stand on the wheels. I need to get rid of them. If he comes and gets them for cash, I'll take $500 for the set. He's got a week to decide before I post them.

Still cleaning them up. I've also got the orginal lugs and Acura wheel locks to boot.

Man! You are having more that your fair share of bad luck with your CLS.

As for lunch on Thursday, that works for me. See you there at high noon.
Also, don't forget this time. :P

Mantis, that sucks! Is the wheel fixable? Or are you gonna have to wait another half-a-year for a replacement?

well mostly the repairs will be painting and minimal... just scratches... front bumper will be replaced as well as front headlights... rims will be repaired and front right tire is replaced b/c of a bubble... ohter than that everything will be same... nothing else got hurt... soon as I get it back i'mma learn to launch that puppy.... my friend? he just bought an Accord OEM kit... so he's low on dough... o yeah and Iwas thinkin' maybe oyu'd like to sell me those springs before you install them... I could really use a set... hehe why would you want them anyways? you're too rich... get a nice set of coilovers... leave the springs to the poor college student struggling his way through undergrad only to be bombarded by medschool later... ok ok ok... this convicning probably won't work so how about a "I'll be your best friend!" no? allrgiht then I give up...

Ruf, hit me on my cell just to make sure I don't forget yo 214-288-1911

I called up a rim shop, and they said they wanted $200 to refinish it, and it would take 2-3 weeks to get it done b/c they would have to ship it somewhere. I don't want to have to go through the agony of buying another one, so if any of you ladies know where a good rim "REPAIN" shop is, let me know.

Civic, yer a freak! :P

Humm . . .

I wish I could afford coilovers, but not with single income supporting 4 in Plano. :')

You may want to check out a post on car talk. A guy with 18's is selling a bunch of stuff, including springs.

Perhaps we could work something out if you help me get those wheels sold.
Anything over $500 and I'll let you have the springs for $160. Anything over $550 and I'll let you have them for $150, and maybe even a bit less.

Hey Guys,

The new set up is proving to be faster even in hot weather with a full tank of gas.

Using a not so scientific method, my previous best time 0-60 was 6.97 secs. That was using the shiftgate and running it to 7,000 in 1st and 2nd, plus less than a 1/2 a tank. Just leaving it in D3 and going for it resulted in 7.14 secs to 60MPH. And this was in cooler weather as well.

With the new wheels I did a couple of runs with a full tank, left it in D3 and went for it. All 3 runs were sub-7 sec runs. The best being 6.78 secs. I'm betting in cooler weather, less than a 1/2 a tank and using shiftgate up to 7,000 in 1st and 2nd I can hit less than 6.6 secs and maybe 6.5!

I know I know, but C&D says we can do 6.3 secs. Well very few, actually no one else has come closer than 6.7, and some even higher.

The main point is that if this proves out here real soon, I may have knocked over 4-10ths off my 0-60 time.

ok... give me the final details on the wheels (scratches, tread) and I'll try to sell them by the end of the week... it'll be a personal mission... I'm trying to get $650 shipped for them right now from a guy in Utah... we'll see how he goes down... shipping is probably about $100 (rough estimate) so you'll stlil be over 550... gonna be hard to sell them for that price without pics or something... can you help me out Ruf?

I'm trying to sell just the wheels because I only have 2 tires. The other are history.

The wheels are in excellent condition. I've even cleaned them up.
If we need pics I'll have to work something out.

As for shipping, I guess it depends where to. I've seen the Acura Com site state they charge $15.00 a wheel for shipping. I'll see about getting a price on that as well.

I was wishing I had mine in my car the other day, a friend of mine (studing architecture) wanted to show me this huge modern style house he found. So when we pull up I see a black Diablo SV sitting in the driveway....i don't even remember the house.

Yep, they are.

The guy just came by and took lock stock and barrel. :P

I'm telling you, civic4982 can get things done.

Next time we need a deal on a buy or something he is our man.

Or he just wanted those springs from me really bad.

Anyway, I'm goning to wait on the springs until I can afford the sways. That way I get it done once and aligned once.

In my opinion, I'd do both at the same time. That way you pay for the alignment once.

Also, don't forget to wrap the sway bars in teflon tape where go through the bushing supports.

Good to see you again, Mark.

Well, Ruf and I got a good comparison of stock cars, one with 19s, & one with aftermarket lighter than stock 17s. Well, if Ruf wasn't bouncing off the rev limiter, then he would pull on me through 1st & halfway through second. Halfway through second he wouldn't pull on me as much anymore, and we would even out.

I got toasted by about 1-2 car lengths everytime (assuming he wasn't playing tennis with the rev limiter), or we didn't have to slow down for traffic.

Well, I've definetly gotta get some performance mods just to even things out. Ohh, and another thing, we need to hit the track before the 18th of October. I wonder if CLS-D ever went?

yeah, but the timer was all screwed, or so he says, he said his slip mis printed and his story is a ran another older si with some stuff, and lost by a half a car length and supposedly he said the other guys time was 14.5 or something ridiculous like that, so he said he figured he ran a 14.7 or something and i told him half a length would put him about .5 off so if anything a 15 or more for him, that's if the other guy actually ran a 14.5 so he says. I think its all a crock, him and my bro raced and it was about even, my bro's car isnt tuned after installing his intake manifold, so its running alittle sluggish, so if they are about even any my bro only ran like a 16 then i figured that is what he really ran, hehe. Really off from his story huh :sqnteek:

:o :o Yep, I've got to work on that shift. I'm getting rusty in my old age. :P

Anyway, not sure if and how much I pulled you, but I could clearly see you hanging in there once we got moving.

Too bad the streets were still so wet.
I was surprised that I got the tires to break loose a bit when I hit 2nd. At least I wasn't turning them like the Michelins.

And especially thanks for lunch, and I'm looking forward to seeing the pics. Even though the cars were wet and dirty.

Mantis,

I checked out the calendar for the Motorplex and here are the dates that would work for me. Assuming I'm going to run my TLS.

October 4th
November 15th
November 22nd

Otherwise, other dates could work, but I would not be able to drive myself.

Mantis, where is that OBX group buy at?

Just curious as I now have $340 and would need $60 more. My angle to the spouse is that I could save over $200. It's the same sort of logic she uses when she buys something on sale. :P
