Rumors said for bestbuy at least, they had around 60 cards per store.
I saw a post on Reddit - guy camped out for hours outside and when it came time for the store to hand out the tickets to buy one, he was the first person not to get one. Store had 46 cards, he was 47th in line.
So some craziness at my local microcenter earlier this week.
Some dude pulled up and tried to offer the 1st guy in line $1000 to get his spot/cut entire line...basically got told to F off.....dude comes back and drives by in his car and starts shooting paintballs at the ppl waiting in line...no one seriously hurt (thank god) but cops called and couple of ppl in line who were carrying almost thought they were getting shot for real for a second before they held off once they realized it was just paintballs (still can do big damage, and a round metal barrel sticking out of a car window at midnight.....).
So now my microcenter just put up this:
3070Ti launches this thursday...no one knows how it will work.
Yeah.....looks like B550 should be good enough? I'll want at least two M.2 NVME slots and also I'd like wifi built-in as well just for flexibility or if I take my rig on the go.
I've had a gigabyte board currently on my intel i7 2600k rig for almost 10 years now....looking at Asus TUF Gaming or Rog Strix B550 with wifi....

Any good case recs? I do not care for RGB at all...want maximum air flow/performance....
what i mean is, i could sell you that gigabyte board. if you want.
its brand new. not even opened. it has 2x m.2 slots and built in wifi.
I'll give you best price
B550 should be plenty for Ryzen. I dont think there is any compelling reason to go with an X570 board.
What size monitor are you looking to get? 32" or 27"? with the 3070ti, i would look at 1440p. 4K might be a bit of a stretch with good frames.
I have the LG 27GN850-B. I like it alot.
That monitor you linked is ok. but its a VA panel. So you'd have good contrast, but color accuracy wont be as good. Also I'm not sure it's Nvidia G-Sync compatible.
not sure whats good for mid tower cases, but I see soooo many builds using the Lian Li O11 and the Fractal Design Meshify.

I was almost going to get a Corsair 4000D Airflow when I built mine but I wanted something that looked a little more interesting. If you needed a little bigger, coworker got the 5000D Airflow for redoing his cooling setup and he's happy with it.

OOoh I see....ok @Mizouse , yes let's talk more over PM with the gigabyte board....I got a EVGA 850W PSU with my 3070 so that actually worked out. Let me know how much you're looking for it.....I assume I can still register it so I can get warranty from gigabyte?
Yeah it should be more than enough for my needs.
I'm looking at at least 32" @ 1440p and 120+Hz. Hence the more budget LG option....have to look into VA vs IPS panel more....I think I may be ok for now and maybe get the cheaper one??? lol....just $300 is great value.
Gonna stay away from 4k for now.
I'd love to get even bit bigger for 34" but those are all ultrawides...and I looked at those at microcenter and Im not huge fan of the super wide monitors or curved ones....I have a super old school 27" flat 60hz 1080p monitor I'm gonna put to the side as my 2nd monitor for email/discord/etc.
Yeah gonna look into cases more also....hitting up microcenter tomorrow...

Yeah Ive read about the 4000D/5000D series....willl look into those for sure.
Seems like the AMD 6000 cards are more readily available. They keep showing up in stock by Newegg with no shuffle requirement.
tad pricey but available.
Nice cop. Aren’t those notoriously difficult to get?
yup. About a difficult to get as a graphics card.
I got lucky and at the end of June they had a small drop.
If you want one, get on the FormD Reddit and watch there for release announcements. They do it typically a few days before.
Use Apple Pay or Google Pay to increase your odds of getting one.
they are also updating to v1.5 sometime in August, which is supposed to have better graphics card and radiator compatibility. As well as the option for an Ncase M1 layout.
so maybe wait for that?
Good to know, but I probably won’t be building a SFFPC. They look really neat, but I prefer a mid-tower size. With how hectic things have been and the component availability situation, I decided to just wait.
How different is performance in the smaller case?
As an aside, the Steam Deck looks really cool, but at the same time probably won’t get one until middle of next year at the earliest.
I have yet to build a PC. Still using my 2070s prebuild with plans to maybe just build something new with the same 2070s based on how great 30 series sales are still going.
But I finally built my first mechanical keyboard. Anyone else a keyboard nerd?
For my first build I wanted to go budget incase I fucked anything up.
TM680 case in white
Boba U4T switches factory lubed
Durock stabilizers in white lubed with krytox 205g0
Iceberg clones from KeyKits
Case was lightly modded. I added 4oz to give the plastic case some more heft and added some cabinet liner to reduce vibration and the hollow echo.
Now that I'm quarantined in a hotel room for like 3 weeks (my laptops were all kaput unfortunately so using a tablet and a bluetooth keyboard which has been a life-saver so far)...I'm starting to see more benfits to a SFF build. ANd they seem to be hugely popular recently too.
If I had a SFF, I could've easily put it in my carry-on (with the GPU and CPU heatsink uninstalled probably....guessing ok to leave RAM and PSU...and of course unplug and sotre away all/any wires.) and then use a smaller monitor like a 1080p 24" or something that would fit in a suitcase and then pack a mouse and keyboard with headphone and a lan cable and bam....got a mobile gaming solution that's just slightly more annoying than a laptop but vastly more powerful with desktop parts.
I was thinking something like a mid-range budget mobile desktop/SFF build for if/when I need to game/be on desktop somewhere else and of course it's so much easier to move around in the home if needed....maybe at home it can be basically a media PC of sort.
Main thing I'm worried about is thermals...like you mentioned....hence my thought of maybe just going mid-range in the parts since I'll leave my top(ish) end stuff in my mid tower. Can you basically just leave all the panels off to help with more air flow? And with so many SFF cases out there...are there any "best" ones out there that's recommended?
The SSUPD Meshlicious is hugely popular right now.
Ncase M1 and Ghost S1 are popular choices.
NR200 is really popular but it’s on the rather large size comparatively to other SFF cases at 18L.
and yes I could take off my side panels if I wanted.
oh and I recently picked up custom power cables from Pslate and did a little cable management. That actually dropped my temps by about 4-5 degrees. When gaming my CPU is 76 and GPU is at 76-77.
if temps are that much of a concern you can go AIO. As long as the circuit is closed, FAA let’s you carry it on.
