The battery life reviews seem to be great coming from a Pixel 4XL. I can't say I am sold on the camera yet. I expected with the larger sensor and sensor stabilization to see a larger gap. Think the Pixel phones still hold the night time winner on most cases as far as detail in the shadows go. When the iPhone gets it right the pictures at night are sharper but it doesn't seem to always be the case. Daytime wise so far from the reviews it seems the iPhone wins most of the time.
Is there a feature so I don’t have to swipe up to unlock the phone after Face ID authentication?
it would be similar to the Touch ID accessibility feature “Rest Finger to Open” where you don’t have to press the home button to unlock, just placing your finger on the home button immediately unlocks the phone to the Home Screen.
Raise to wake and that feature turned on meant really speedy phone unlocks.
My wife has decided she wants the 12 mini, and ATT has a promotion for trade in credit of $700 and her XR qualifies. first phone in forever I wont have bought direct from apple.

Maybe I wont...dealing with AT&T is like pulling teeth. Trying to get straight answers about how the promotion works is infuriating. And I would have to upgrade to 5g for the promotion. Im about to tell them to fuck off.
what plan are you under right now with AT&T? interestingly I didn't do any AT&T 5G upgrade and my phone just has it out of the box.
I bought my iPhone from Apple.
edit: I have the AT&T Unlimited Elite, but it seems like all their unlimited plans comes with 5G
i got handed off to a manager who actually knew what they were talking about and it made sense.
traditionally I’ve purchased all my phones from Apple except maybe once or twice. I’d only this because the mini would be almost free (save tax and $50 to get the 128gb)
right now I have an older plan that has 30gb shared data (non-5g). With my discount it’s $134 a month.
To get the phone promo I also have to upgrade to a 5g plan. The unlimited elite would cost $140 and the unlimited starter is $130. The biggest differences are 30gb of hotspot (which we very rarely used) free hbomax (I use my parents) and no speed throttling until 1000gb. The starter doesn’t have the first 2 and says speed might slow down if the network is busy. So no guarantee against throttling.
the other to thing to get those prices is I have to enroll in autopay. Which I don’t have with my current plan. I don’t love the idea of auto pay. But at the same time it’s a $20 difference.
the credit for $700 is spread out over 30 months. So my wife would have to commit to a phone for that long. I don’t think that an issue. She has had her xr for 2 years and would happily keep it. But she does love the smaller phone. Her complaint about the crash has always been that it’s too big.
