NFC is a good thing to have, though I don't use it personally. However, I do have a location-aware app that does much the same thing for my Note 2.

IMO, it would be cool for Iphones let alone any phone to have.

Ok I did see that the Galaxy S3 and Optimus G Pro (5.5") are $100 for ATT via Best Buy. Maybe Apple wanted to compete with those as well and get their total units up.

Like I said you are full of shit. We had this debate, when it was an actual debate, and I've stated my use of android, why I dont like it, and why the iphone works for me.

I dont need to buy a S4...when I have easy access to the android devices I already don't like using.

Don't make statements you arent actually willing to back up (and you aren't)

I suppose it depends on where and when you look. Regular pricing? Phones from last year like the S3, which is still a competitive phone. The HTC One was $99 a few weeks ago. The top-end WP phones hit $99 pretty quickly, but not many like WP anyway.

If you're going to make it...might as well market them to all the markets and try to increase your profits...why the hell not.

Some use it for much more, some don't use it at all. My main hope was to use it for payments. Take my license and my phone with me and leave the wallet at home, especially if I was out running or biking and I'd have my phone with me regardless.
That's Blue Tooth and Wifi, my iPhone does that for the car. Those whining are crying for NFC.

You want to use for payments. That's my point NO ONE uses it to accept payment. So why should the iPhone have it?

Thanks I saw this but didn't include because it's smaller than the 5c. Point is that at least Apple is competing now with lower end/older Android phones which is pretty smart. I know they sold year old models already but now they have new style entry level models too.

Its mainly resale value that dictates initial price.

There's 841 merchants within a 25 mile radius that accept Paypass (and thus NFC) as a form of payment. That's quite a bit for 'NO ONE.'

As for what I did in my car, I did all of that without having to turn the phone on. It was a very nice convenience to have. Others may not feel the same. However there is a segment of iPhone loyal users who would like NFC, and would like it to make payments from.

It will be interesting to see when ISIS launches nationwide if it picks up. The reason not many people have used it to pay with is because they weren't allowed. What happens when they are allowed?

I think if I had an imac or idesktop, I'd be much more inclined to have a seamlessly integrated phone/ipad type of deal. Overall, I've always wanted to be apple...but didn't like how pricey they are and how it seemed like all software was proprietary. Probably why they're less prone to bugs/viruses too, huh?

Lower income families who have just been "dying" to get an iPhone...We aren't all middle class or higher.

There will be a market who sees this and thinks it was made just for them.

The brilliance of marketing.

I do like that TouchID thing. Not that I do it, but having to enter a password while you're driving can be an freaking hassle.

...not that I do that...

Not seeing iPhone users in here whining it doesn't have it, just the FANdroids, trolling for something.

Not you, at least you're having a smart conversation about it.

I know about Paypass, been around for awhile, but still limited as to what it can do. And you are tied use Mastercard. As Whiskers has said Passport...

NFC is not something I've looked into a bunch, because I dont really trust it too much...the idea that youre broadcasting an open signal with your pay info...not for me.

We are starting to get bugs/viruses...just not as many because most people go after the dominate OS...and Windows is still that.

Sure...I pay more up front for an apple computer (sometimes...come comparable PCs are similar in cost)...but every apple I have had has lasted 2-3 years longer than any PC I had or built.

Perhaps its different now...but to not have to touch windows...worth the price of admissions to me.

Those with it built into their credit cards can have the information stolen just walking down the street near someone searching for the signal. It's always transmitting.

That was why Wallet being blocked was such a cockblock: you can use it with any of your cards with few exceptions. You go to the terminal, put the pin in the app and you could choose how the payment was made. I believe it was encrypted OTA via NFC and on the processing end.

As far as convenience goes, if you had your wallet with you it wasn't all that. The idea was to start leaving the wallet at home, which was fascinating. To have your boarding pass, your ticket stubs, etc. Passbook has done some of this since then. But like NFC isn't universal without iPhone, Passbook isn't universal at all. I want to see a solution that works no matter what carrier or phone you have, and to be frankly honest you're much more likely to see NFC implemented by Apple than you will see Passbook licensed. I'd be fine with either.

As a rule Mac's give you about 1-2 years more then a desktop. Biggest draw is resale value. You can generally sell a Mac as long as it turns on. Any PC older then a year is pretty much landfill.

Honestly, you are coming off like a fucking troll. I cringe every time I come in here to see what people are talking about to see your posts. You have offered no constructive comments, in my opinion they have been destructive.

Do me a favor and stay out. Your intentions are clear. Thanks.

I will semi agree with you here....

I dislike Windows....if I had to own a personal laptop, I would look into a MAC...you get a lot for your money....

the disagree part will be, I still use my 7 year old Toshiba laptop which I had back in school....it is* a tablet PC running Windows XP Tablet edition....granted I paid 1800 bucks for it, but I have a knack for paying for technology....the only thing I did was upgraded the ram ($50) and it still works flawlessly....

with that said, if I end up replacing it, it sure will be either Mac book pro or MAc book air....
