Jailbreak doesn't equal free apps. Jailbreak equals apps not approved or regulated by Apple. Lots of those 3rd party apps are free, some cost money but it certainly isn't a situation where once you've jailbroken the phone you can go to the app store and start downloading everything for free.

Really jailbreaking is about allowing your device to do all the things it is capable of doing but Apple doesn't set them up to do right out of the box. It's not hard to do and if you decide you don't like it you can restore back to factory settings and unjailbreak it.

but one of the apps not approved or regulated by Apple lets you get the apps in the app store illegally

I don't know if anyone else here does this but I do and it's become very helpful for me. So at my IT job I'm often reading product keys, service tags or express codes off of PCs. This can be real annoying trying to read a 25digit product key off the back of a PC and entering during an OS install. So I had the idea of using the camera on my iPhone to take a picture of the product key and then just read it off the screen. So if I have to install Windows on a laptop when they have the product key on the bottom of the laptop I only have to pick it up once to take a picture of the product key instead of trying to pick it up 5 times to read the key on the bottom.

Friday I was at one my clients and I had to take inventory of all PCs 31 in total. I had to read the service tag of the machine so I ended up using the camera since sometimes I couldn't fit down there and read it. Very helpful.

Anyone see an App that scans a product bar code at a store?

One Canadian Retailer has it. Was wondering if its common.

So how does it work? does it work at every retailer? Or just tell you what that product is?

I can see that being useful. See something in store and just do a quick check to see if it is cheaper on amazon.

Would be nice if it compared it to more than just amazon thou..

Skyfire on 3G has been crappy for me. Maybe with a iPhone 4 can I get a better signal. Great browser but not working out to what I wanted.

FFFFFFFUUUUUU my wife dropped her iPhone in the toilet. Not working after she attempted to restore it instead of leaving it off to dry. Women and electronics

Anyways I'll let it dry a few days. I guess only option is Genius store and pray for a miracle. Or else $200 for a refurbbed. I also have a 3rd line that my mother in law had but with no data. Can I upgrade that line and not put data since I'll swap sims?

Apple has alot of water sensors in the phone so you'll likely be SOL.

Try letting it dry thou since toilet water is mostly fresh water, less chance of corrosion.

Btw, even after drying it, it might not work because the battery swells up when it gets soaked with water. So you'll have to try changing the battery after drying it.

I had a sony Ericsson phone that got washed w/ my laundry. I took out the battery and stupid me put it back in w/o powering it on, but it still killed it.
And the battery swelled to like 2x it's size.

My friend ended up taking it with him when he went back to pakistan. The guy put in a new battery and it worked, although a little quirky.

Yeah I let it dry a few days. Everything but the 3G and the external speakers work properly. The 3G is spotty where sometimes she gets signal and sometimes Searching. She was answering some calls from me yesterday so I forgot to ask if it was vibrate or ring. I think I will try Square's 30 day waiting period warranty where the deductible is $50.

^I used the Skype during lunch. Called my friend in Nashville. Since he has a 4 I can see him but since I have a 3GS he gets to see South Beach and all the hot chicks walking by. :p Worked pretty good but only speaker phone and the call dropped after 10 minutes.

Best part about living there, walk across street, sit at beach, enjoy topless europeans. Epic

Yea, I read about that today. Hopefully it gets solved soon. Either way I'm finally gonna be using a smartphone to its full capabilities. I had my iphone over t-mobile. So the only way I'll get internet is through wifi.

you can use an iPhone on tmobile, just have to use Edge.

seriously thou on an iPhone 4, edge really isnt THAT bad compared to the original iPhone and even 3GS.

its bearable, im guessing part of the slowness was due to the processor.

Requires Jailbreak! But that's soooo beneath you.....

You go straight to jail, do not pass go, do not collect $200!

.... I don't mind jailbreaking.

I just don't have a real "must jailbreak" type mentality.

Plus I dont want to deal with shit when it hits the fan.
