Quote: 1. I've always had my notifications turned off so I don't know about data usage with notifications.

2. Yes you can customize which applications you receive push notifications for.

3. All of our docks work with my 4, my brother's 3GS and my sister's iPod touch.

4. AFAIK, AT&T doesn't offer insurance on for the iPhone but there are other places that do. I've never had insurance on any of my 3 iPhones.
i would imagine push notifications use KB (if even) of data, so i wouldnt worry about it eating up the $15/month plan.

Quote: 1st icon refreshes the server and downloads any new mail
2nd icon moves your currently open message to a different folder.
3rd icon deletes your mail (i dont know how you couldnt figure this out it puts up a big red "delete message" button
4th is replay
5th is new message.
When I click on 3rd icon, it doesn't pop up anything... it just sucks in the current mail into that box and it opens up next mail. Maybe I need to check my mail setting or something.

Dude, no need to start a OS battle. They are both really good in their own way.

I love Android, but it's lacking in some areas where the iPhone isn't.

Do whatever you want, I just don't feel there is a need to do it. I know which OS is better for me, no need to come here and announce it.

Why not start an Android vs. iOS thread?

Because I agree with you that an android vs ios discussion will only run itself in circles. I just recently switched to android from the iphone and I was just having some little fun : D

Here's a funny situation.

My wife has me in her contacts as two different ones - my name, and ICE (in case of emergency). When she texts one contact, I receive it as her contact name and number. When she does the other, I get the message as a 972 area code number (Midlothian, TX). I did it for myself with both phones right next to each other.

Actually, I just thought about that she has ICE assigned to my Google Voice number. I bet that is what it is.

DIE IN A FIRE!!!!!

I thought everyone realized we were joking? I love Android phones and always considering what's out there like the Windows phones. I seriously use Netflix a lot and the free Hulu would be great if it were more than 5 or so eps. I could get the Plus but the beautiful thing is choice. I lean towards Apple now because they get a lot of good apps that I like first including Netflix and hopefully DirecTV streaming to my phone next year. I'm sure by the time the 5 comes out the competitors will bring out their big guns and it will be really hard but fun to decide who to go to.

It's mostly carried over from my 3G days... I haven't tried a comparison with and without push notifications on the 4, but I can do without them. I can check my email and such on my own accord.

My battery usually lasts a minimum of 2-3 days.

I'm at my wits ends with Rogers.

I was made eligible for the 4 2 weeks ago today. Phone was out of stock so I was told to call every day to try and secure one. You'd figure they'd have an ordering process in place, nope. Finally find one this past Saturday, shipped from Rogers to UPS on Monday.

UPS site shows delivery to be done yesterday. Nope, still nothing today. Call UPS, its lost. (Shocker, I'm sure some UPS employee is enjoying his new iPhone 4 as we speak.)

Call Rogers, they say the trace has to be completed before they send another. Fine, but here's the part that raises my blood pressure. They won't send it automatically. I have to call back to place the order, and if its out of stock, I have to once again call until its in. Their 'system' won't allow for automated sending even though I already ordered the fawkin phone. I have to get back in line.

Does this make sense to anyone? I escalated the case as high as I could today so now I'm waiting for a call back from a 2nd tier manager. Un-fawkinbelievable.

What is the difference between 3G and Edge? 3G is faster, from what I read. So are these true statements?

1. I can get on the internet with either 3G or Edge.

2. If my 3G is Off, that means I can still get internet via Edge.

3. If my 3G is Off, my voice calls will be in 2G.

4. My 3GS phone will choose 3G first. If it's not available, it will default to Edge. So always 3G first.

Summary:

3G is internet & voice.

2G is Edge (internet) & voice. Sort of speaking.

4. My 3GS phone will choose 3G first (if toggled on). If it's not available, it will default to Edge. So always 3G first.

Summary:

3G/Edge is internet & voice.

3G has a higher speeds at equal bars, but also uses more battery.

I have a question (in case you didn't see my last thread, I just got an iphone 4 a few days ago).

What are the advantages/disadvantages to 'jailbreaking' the phone? And is it easy?

The stock ringtone/text msg tone selections are fucking horrible. Luckily I've already created and imported my custom ringtones, but I heard in order to do the same for text msg tones you have to have your phone jailbroken. True?

Sorry to hear about your luck Dom, if it's any concelation my friend that's on Bell had to deal with the same lack of que or pre-order when he wanted his. He had to call his local bell store everyday, took like a month because he works nights so he would be asleep by the time they opened, and they would be sold out by the time he woke up. My brother had pretty good luck just going to an Apple store and doing the upgrade there.

Well, Phone showed up late last night. My apologies to UPS employees everywhere.

What's funny is how UPS stresses how up to date their site is yet it mentioned nothing of the phone being found or delivered. It was a nice surprise though.

Still going to complain to Rogers about the process when they call back.

For whatever one dumb old man's opinion is worth, I have always had much better luck ordering from Apple instead of a reseller or provider. The tracking is better, the customer service response is always 100%, it's up to you whether or not you want to sign-ahead for a delivery, and...well...it's just better.

:-)

I wish I had the option this time. Since it was an early upgrade, everything had to be done through Rogers.

To be honest I'm not even sure The Apple stores in Canada sell phones. I think everything has to be done through a provider as far as the iPhone goes.

I think that's one of the misconceptions about jailbreaking...that all the apps and goodies that you can do once you jailbreak is free...
