Not trying to be a troll here, I have a lot of respect for the iPhone...
You guys are all into jailbreaking your phones and customizing them should really give Android a shot for your next device. The open source platform and root capabilities allows customization that blows away anything you can do on your iphone.

I just really, really, really like plugging in my iPhone into a USB port and controlling it through my car's radio instead of picking it up every damn time and looking away from the road to change the track or something when it's through AUX. I might just sell it though since prices are decent.... and pick up a refurb iPod Touch or something.
I'm really considering it at this point. I'm waiting for the displays to improve to the level of resolution that the iPhone 4 has, though admittedly I haven't gotten my hands on a Super AMOLED-equipped phone yet. I'm sure the processors are as fast as I need them to be, though even more powerful ones will be nice. Also the battery life on some still worries me

As far as battery life, I'm on a rooted Nexus One with Cyanogen 6.0 OS and I'm getting over 40 hours of better life with a good amount of usage and 2 push accounts synced.
Yea, that's a rough situation I guess. I wonder if you contacted the companies if they would be willing to give you a license for the Android app if you've already bought the Apple version.
I said out loud a few months ago that if any company wants someone to switch and try, they need to give out so many credits in the respective App Store.
If I got $50 worth of credit in the Android App Store, I'd switch over when it was time.

I'm looking forward to open source... not some damn program telling me what I should and shouldn't download and removing shit from my phone.

If anyone here is interested in android we got a thread about it, and they could go there and get info.
Don't get so defensive, is the iphone helping you with that virginity thing?
Regardless if it's a CC or direct license transfer you're still assuming that it's an app that is equivalent in quality to the app you are coming from, regardless of platform.
I think, for right now, there are going to be some growing pains with people not wanting to switch between devices until a large amount of apps are available on any of the smartphone platforms.
For example, I use GasCubby, MindJet, DropBox and Things on my iPhone very regularly. DropBox is currently the only app also available on Android, but because the other three are not (1 of which never will be because it's tied to a desktop app), I don't see a benefit to want to switch over to Android in the first place. This also doesn't count all the games that I've spent money on.
I'm not saying people won't switch, I'm just saying that the longer a person stays on a particular smartphone and the more apps they've bought for that platform, the less they will want to switch regardless of the quality of the other device. It will also depend on how the other platform's respective app store is viewed as being equivalent or better than what they already have, which we are still a couple years from having IMO. Android may have apps better than Apple and vice versa. Goes both ways.

A credit would go a long way to bridging the divide. Regardless of the quality of apps, there are going to be more different apps than the same ones. With a credit, I could at least take some chances and not feel like I've completely wasted the money on crap ones.
A couple of years, and you're going to see comparable apps across the board, if they aren't outright made by the same developers. There's too much money in the Android marketplace not to attempt it.

I think its fundamentally impossible for the Android marketplace to NOT catch up, at least in terms of diversity in apps. It's open source, has multiple phones coming out on all four of the major networks and at a faster rate than Apple is pumping out iPhones/iPods. And you can only have so many different apps coming out at once... a lot of the apps are redundant or pointless. Seriously, sex facts? an app to simulate a beer in a mug?

The couple of bugs I've seen have cleared themselves up. Except for one: I had all my apps after I JB'ed, now they are gone.
A sync, and now they are back minus one. And now that's back.
All good here. Just a couple of reboots and resyncs and I'm all set. Checking out GameCenter now.
