They are SOPHISTICATED dolls. I bet you Barbie couldn't transform into a car.

I picked up the blue smart cover. I was gonna get the speck one until I learned that the speck case didn't have the magnets.

The smart cover is pretty cool, I'm happy with it! I'm pretty careful with gadgets so I'm not really worried about protecting the back

if you actually use it, it feels faster (well it should be since its dual core)

i did notice at least to me that it feels snappier, things load faster etc.
compared to my limited experience with a 1G iPad.

it took about twice the time to load the angry bird rio for his ipad

Ok apple boys and girls, tell me about adding printers. A lady I work with just asked me if I could add her Canon MP560 wireless printer to her Ipad 2. I have no clue how that works or if its possible. What's the story?

No native airprint for that printer but there are apps available that might work. Perhaps this one...http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/print...299423224?mt=8

Thanks doop.

It looks like that app doesn't get great reviews so I'm not sure if I'm going to try it or not. Does airprint plan to expand support?

It's pretty ridiculous how few printers support airprint and I think only HP has printers that support it.

its because apple isnt using any drivers or something of that sort.

not sure how the other apps do it. but if they wanted it to support more printers you'd be having to install drivers for your printer onto your phone.

I just found this one too, looks a bit better. Think I'll give her the option of waiting or giving this one a shot.

If she has a Mac there's an AirPrint utility that allows you to print to any printer connected to that Mac via airprint

i got a 2 for my mom, so she can video chat with my sister & niece a bit easier. I can't get over how much better the screen looks. brighter, more vivid, and much deeper black.

I want one too now.

Yeah the screen is pretty much the same. I can't tell a difference between the two.

When I went to the St. Pete Grand Prix over the weekend Verizon had a booth setup at corners 3 and 4 (the most difficult corners of the course) and had a tent setup where you could play with the Xoom tablet. They had employees walking around with the Xoom also signing people up for some contest. It was kinda :ghey: if you wanted to watch the race at those corners you had to sign up for some crap so I gave them a bunch of false info and got in.

I played with the Xoom and wasn't impressed that much. I mean it's nice and all but no reason why you would want to pay more for the Xoom instead of an ipad. It was much thicker and the corner were sharp and plasticy. I didn't get to spend much time on Honeycomb but it was interesting, I liked the animations. It's a good start but overall, meh...

Also no iPads or iPhones at the Verizon booth. I didn't see any prominent Motorola branding at the booth but maybe they went with the Xoom because they have an exclusive on it.

How can you say you're paying more, the Wifi version of the Zoom is $599 on amazon.com and the mobile unit costs about the same as an iPad from Verizon.

Isn't the 32GB Xoom w 3G $800 compared to $730 for the iPad. Don't they require the user to purchase one month of 3g data in order to "enable" the wifi feature on the Xoom.

I guess the comparatively priced wifi xoom came out yesterday. still no reason to get that over the iPad.

yeah I believe you can but the fact that you're required to purchase one month of 3G data from Verizon to be able to use the wifi feature is fucking gay. That's a dick move...

I assume this only applies to the 3g version of the Xoom not the wifi only.

Verizon doesn't sell the wifi only. That'll be left for normal retailers.

the screens are totally not the same.

iPad 1 screen is like 2-3mm below the glass...iPad 2, the screen is on the glass.
The blacks are also incomparable.

Find me a review or some evidence that proves otherwise. because every review I've read says the screen is identical to the first one and from what I can tell it's exactly identical, I can tell no difference between the two. Nor did apple claim that they improved the screen....

They were wrong about it being a retina display, but it is a revised part.

The story supposedly is they were trying to put in a higher res display but there were some issues and had to cancel that. Just like the 3rd gen iTouch was supposed to have a camera but then that got scrapped at the last minute.

From the looks of it, they are using a different display. From specs doesn't seem to be an upgrade, but it's giving a better picture.

For clarification it's a slightly thinner display but still the same spec wise

If you consider only the resolution, yes, it's the same spec-wise. But everyone who spends time with displays understands that resolution is only a small part of the story for the relative appearance of two LCD displays.

Check this link:

I also think the iPad 2 will have the cover glass optically laminated to the LCD, like what Apple did with the iPhone 4. I would also like the display to be less glossy and bounce less ambient light.
http://www.displayblog.com/2011/02/0...the-missing-q/

That could account for what Astro is observing in the relative appearances.

But the display isn't laminated to the glass like the iPhone 4 which is evidenced by the ifixit.com teardown

Not that I can tell. I'm sure it's making as much contact with the glass as possible but not stuck to it like the iPhone 4

Just do a jailbreak and use TruPrint:

http://www.iphonedownloadblog.com/20...rted-printers/

It worked okay on my iPhone 4, but sometimes it required some "fiddling" to work. But it got the job done.
