Apple: iPad News and Discussion Thread
I stood in line for about 2 hours last night and got the iPad. I wanted the 32gb black but they sold out about 50 people ahead of me so I ended up with a 16gb which is fine.
I'm having a problem with Itunes not recognizing the iPad. I can't sync it. Computer and itunes won't see it. I just downloaded the latest version.
Anyone know what the problem is?

My phone syncs without a problem.
Does windows make that noise when you connect your ipad? It usually makes anoise when connect or disconnect a device.
Check in device manager (different from device and printers) when the iPad is connected and see if it shows up in the list there. It might have a yellow circle with a black exclamation point. Then if you double click that icon it might say something like "Code 10: Device drivers are installed but device could not be started"
Or just wait until Sarlacc helps you, he knows more about technology than I could ever dream of knowing.....

I went into device manager and the iPad was listed as other device. It was missing the driver. Downloaded the driver, and I'm in!
Thanks a lot, I appreciate your help.
I wiped the iPad that was given to me as an inheritence. Turning on the iPad gave me the display as if it was being turned on for the first time. Connected it to my laptop. Had the same problem. My laptop made the noise signaling the connection, but iTunes isn't responding to it. I ended up downloading an update version of iTunes, then plugged it in again, started up iTunes again and everything worked fine/as it should. I also updated my iPad 1 with the newest software (4.3).

I'm interested in the Speck PixelSkin HD Wrap. It seems to be the same as the smart cover but it has a back to it!

I swung by BB today and they had the white iPad on display and meh....
It looked like I thought it would and not like I had hoped it would. I'm glad I recognized my temporary insanity before making a bad decision.
The white iPad distracts from the screen while the black iPad border disappears and doesn't distract you from the content on screen. The white border just sticks out too much, especially when watching video.

Hmm.
I'm not sure which one I like the most.
I also stopped by my local BB last night to try to find a case and glanced at the white iPad. I don't think it looks as slick as the black model. I'm happy with my choice.

Just ordered this case for my iPad 1:

Stopped in to a BB real quick just to play with one for a minute.
It is definitely much nicer to hold in your hands sans case. And it feels much faster from a graphics stand point.
Overall, very nice 2nd gen...but I will wait for the 3rd gen.

Not feeling that case shoof. Looks heavy, bulky and flimsy. Build quality looks weak, careful with that stand, doesn't look very stong. The guy doing the intial review wasn't feeling it either.
I really just want a case that I can fold and have on my lap while lying down or relaxing on my chaise at home. I probably won't use the stand that puts it in portrait mode much, most likely use the landscape mode with the more sturdy display cover as the stand. I have the standard iPad case on it now but I don't love it..
