Apple: Hardware News and Discussion Thread
I snagged some Beats X when I discovered to my surprise that they were at the Apple Store for 99.00.
They're usually the same price as AirPods.
Same instant pairing because of the W1 chip.
Less noise intrusion than AirPods, a little better sound, including obviously better bass.
There's a range of foam inserts for different sized ears, together with those clips that push up against your ear shell for an even firmer fit.
Comfortable, 8 hours battery.
At the regular full retail price, you could argue that they're competitive with AirPods. But if they're still at 99.00 instead of 159.99, then it seems to me they're a stand apart best buy.

they announced a new AirPods case that supports wireless charging back when the iPhone X was announced.
But its not known when it will be available. Presumably when the Apple AirPower wireless charging pad is released.
Yeah, I saw that. Thanks for the feedback. I think I'll hold off until AirPower, charger case comes out.

If anything it might be like the 2017 21" 4K iMac, you can't directly access it like how it is on the 27" 5K iMac.
On the 2017 21" 4K iMac you have to open up the machine and remove the logic board to get to the RAM slots.
If it's soldered RAM then yes, you're SOL.

The iMac Pro represents one of the largest performance increases in Apple's history. It's 200-300% faster than the current iMac 5k.

Top model lists out at $13k
That said, look at the prices of the trash cans and this computer is already a better deal for what its suited for.
BUT...this computer isn't aimed at anyone here, I don't believe. Photographers don't need this machine, even basic video editors don't need this machine.
No, this machine is for people who consistently work in a minimum 4k world, or higher, or deal with 3D modeling and rendering. And its extremely competitive.

I imported 788 still CR2 (RAW) Canon 5DsR 50 Megapixel images or 50.74GB of images and then…
I had LR build 1:1 Previews
iMac Pro – 25 minutes 26 seconds
iMac – 50 minutes 45 seconds
MacBookPro 15” – 46 minutes 40 seconds
I applied a look (color correction in the Develop module) and Exported 788 JPEG files at full resolution or 14.79 GB of JPEGs averaging 9 MB each
iMac Pro -31 Minutes
iMac – 1 hour 17 Minutes
MacBookPro 15” – 1 hour 4 minutes

oh for sure, no "even" needed...
I would appreciate the speed boost on running various photo plugins, throughput working with file imports and exports, it would also be easier to do anything video related.... but I am not doing anything too advanced with video....
But the cost-benefit ratio is not optimal and not justified........ Although, if I was in a financial position to comfortably get one, I probably would.

I'm so sick of Adobe...even though I'm stuck on their interface because Ive been using it since day 1. Really trying to break free.
Nope. Not for most of us.
Most of us need efficient communications devices more than anything else, and we'd never make proper use of what a Mac Pro or an iMac Pro has to offer. Most of us consume a lot more than we create.
This 27" iMac is a "Late 2015" 5K that is pretty well decked out, and I can't see replacing it right now. There's just no need.
The iMac before this one went many years before the hard drive finally went. If the hard drive were still working, I'd probably still be using it.
In fact, I still have it. All I have to do is replace the hard drive and it'd still be perfectly usable and would appear decently up to date for normal communications activities, even in 2018.

If you bought a top of the line regular 5k iMac you'd have a blazing fast photo editing machine. Especially if you're running adobe..but as usual Adobe won't take advantage of all the hardware/core software the pro's have to offer.
