Apple: Hardware News and Discussion Thread
So trying not to. Still running Air VR1. This is second one, battery dead in first one, now this one, its replacement is dying. Was getting 12 hours or so when brand new. Now lucky if five hours. It's always in my hand, used often.
I did the same. I traded in a mini towards it. Its great, fast, works great with iOS 11 but I miss the mini. I bought a Fire HD tablet for $50 and now Im happier.
I'm kinda hoping they'd make a refreshed Mini but all the signs are pointing to that it's not likely. My iPad 3 is pretty much only good for Netflix and the Optimum app now since everything is so slow and 9.3.5 is the last update. The Mini is the only size that would fit in the controller for my Mavic Pro since the larger ones are apparently awkward when flying.

Thing is running so slow it's pretty much being used as an alarm clock and the occasional web surfing (it's slow for that)
Question for apple imac users: My wife has been asking me to buy a imac computer for her and the kidos and today my brother in law texted and told me he is planning on getting rid of his imac that he bought at the beginning of the year. He paid like $1300 for it new and is willing to sell it to me for $700. If my memory serves me right it's 21.5", 4k retina screen, 1tb hard drive, i5 processor and 8gb of ram. We currently use iphones and love them but haven't used mac's just regular PC's.
I usually don't like to buy used computers but since it's coming from my BIL and it being an apple I am considering it, what do you all think?

Let me take it off his hands. It's for your own safety.

A Mac seems to be able to get by on less RAM, so don't be deterred by 8 gb of RAM. If you find you need more RAM, then replacing RAM is probably the only easy thing you can do with an iMac.
If you play games, one thing you might want to think about is that there aren't as many OS X games, and the typical Mac is not designed for games.
Another thing you might want to do is make sure you understand why he is selling it, in case the same circumstance would affect you as well.
I have two 27" iMac, a 13" MacBook Pro, an iPad Air, and an iPhone X and I have never regretted any of that. :-)
We have been using iPhones since iPhone 4 and always had get experiences with apple so i'm sure we will like the iMac. I have heard from quite a few people that apple computers seem to outrun PC's by a long shot, my PC's always seems to glitch after about 1.5-2 years and from what I understand that isn't the case with apple or am I wrong?
We don't play games on our computers nor do we use them heavy.

I have never regretted moving to the Apple ecosystem and the computers that come with it.

It's not as easy to upgrade the RAM on a 21.5 inch iMac.
you have to take apart the whole computer and remove the logic board.
Actually depends on what 4K iMac you have.
2017 you can using the process I mentioned above.
2015 its soldered to the logic board.

I just bought some AirPods
3 minutes of use review: Audio is good, much better than the ones included with the iPhone. Hasn't fallen out yet the other ones probably suck at staying in because of the wires pulling on them.
I'm about to go to the gym we'll see how it goes...
I got a 45 day return period
