Oddly I don't think they are targeting Echo or Google Home with it. It appears for some reason they are going after Sonos instead with the added ability of siri. That is at least the way I took it from the presentation. To me that is an odd stance to take as the market for that I don't believe is very large. Also was there any mention of how they would interact at all if you had more than one of them in your home?
At first I was like, "Cool! Apple dropped the price on the new 13" non-touchbar MBP to $1,299." But now I see that the price dropped only because it went from the original's 256GB storage to 128GB.
The new model with the 256GB SSD is still the same $1,499.

I have my echo dot connect to my receiver via bluetooth... I can connect to amazon music, pandora, spotify and even to my phone (so Apple music too if I had the service) and my sound system actually rocks my house. For $350 for a smart speaker is stupid... esp with Siri that is behind Google Home and Alexa. Fail... should have been $299 at best...
Hell I didn't even buy my echo dots until they were on sale...
I have way too much Sonos in my house to justify a HomePod. Whichever service is the first to support Sonos is the one I will choose. It looks like Alexa will be first.
Apple is going to have to do a lot to catch Sonos. The expandability, the Sonosnet network, wireless 5.1 setup, and the 50+ services supported by Sonos work great.
2) not worth it if you already have sonos or house that isn't homekit enabled.
The iMac Pro looks like it will be fantastic for pros...that price deters me, sadly. Its really for people who need that processing power ALL the time.
The new iPad Pro and iOS updates are pretty great. They finally added functionality that brings it closer to really replacing a computer. If adobe can get their shit together and make the lightroom app more up to par...I would jump on a 10.5"

agree on iPad. But I think I'll still get a 13" MBP..

Yeah with how much Sonos has enhanced its product and how intuitive it is to beam music to different parts of the house or all of it, is just great. It's going to take a while for Apple to catch up to that caliber... the price is just restricting for just coming into the game.

alexa and google home still seems gimmicky to me. the home pod as well but its also supposed an pretty damn good speaker.
I use it for a bunch of things, never used it to order anything on Amazon. Home control, TV control, Music, News, Radio, its much better then Siri from what it hears and understand.
