I leave town for a few days (G+ peeps know why  ) and this thread sure took a dramatic turn of events
.
First of, I want to thank mdkxtreme, justnspace, speedemon90, CarbonGray Earl, and others who helped to clear up any misreading of my reply post to is300eater.
QB175 and nfnsquared: I apologize for causing any reason for either of you to have misread my post. In an effort to prevent any further misreading of my old post, I have thus decided to break this down Anandtech style in the following format~
My Original Post

My response and clearing of the air

Well to be fair, the GNex being a disappointment was totally Samsung's fault. They made their Nexus products to be inferior to their own Galaxy products on purpose. The N4 was up to current specs then, but lacked LTE and the N5 is higher than some halo phones out now.
The Google Nexus 4 and 5 are phones made by LG!!! Samsung hasn't been in the NEXUS picture since Google put out the Galaxy Nexus! LMAO!!!!
This is totally my fault. I should have started a new paragraph, despite the previous one only having one sentence, when transitioning from talking about the GNex to the N4 and N5. I did not think about how those that do not already know about the different OEMs involved in the Nexus program would get confused. Gosh, mdkxtreme does a better job than me at explaining things:
You are correct about the Nexus 4 and 5 being made by LG, but incorrect about Samsung not being in the “Nexus picture” since the Galaxy Nexus. Here is the Samsung made Nexus 10. http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/gal...GT-P8110HAEXAR
I am so sorry for your making you laugh so hard that your A fell off.

The portion of my old post that you quoted did in fact say exactly that! Unfortunately, you also modified/misread it to have ended with ellipses instead of a period. The following new sentence about the N4 was not a continuation of the previous sentence about the GNex. Again, I can only apologize for not creating multiple paragraphs per sentence.

And FYI, the Nexus line is not and never was pure Android (AOSP) - it is really Touchwiz by Google.
As far as the Nexus line not being pure Android (wtf does that even mean), the Nexus line is a freakin GOOGLE phone!!!!! Which is all ANDROID!!!
This one is a really tough because it would require me writing a huge amount of words to explain what pure Android (AOSP) is, why the Nexus line is not pure Android, the term “Google phone”, and why Android and Google are not the same.
I do not wish to create more opportunities for my words to be misread and cause swoosh to eat an absurd amount of popcorn, so I would like to refer you to this old, yet wonderful post that references an article by Arstechnica.
I believe that would be a good start to understanding why it is believed you misread what I wrote.

You both are totally correct! Touchwiz is by Samsung and not Google, but once again I have to reference mdkxtreme, and also speedemon90 to explain what I should have written.
I bet those guys never get their old posts misread

???
We absolutely do! In the future, I will try my very best to write things out clearly to avoid any further misreading. However, we also come here for some news and discussion unless I misread the thread title. I also like to think we come here for the occasional laugh.
Also, I hope I didn't misread and you actually meant, advice.
Wrap-Up
CarbonGray Earl, I don't know if this post is something to get 3 exclamation points excited for, but it got me excited, so I hope you approve of its usage as the title.
As you evidently say it better than me:

Crap, I think my posts will forever be misread now. Stupid no edit forum system.

And you know I can't spill the beans about the trip. NDA.
Don't worry, it'll be worldwide news eventually.

Traditionally, yes...red means sarcasm, but the way you used the red, I'm sure people will get it (that it isn't sarcasm)
Agreed, especially with how minimalistic hardware design is.
The only standouts in recent memory are perhaps the HTC one, and the Oppo N1. I'm almost definitely getting the N1 if the camera is decent. (reviews are all over the place - maybe because of firmware)
It is, actually an interesting topic of discussion -
What new feature did you acquire with your last phone upgrade that you regularly use? Something non-android generic - something you'd miss if you switched phones?
I see new stuff here and there, but nothing that I think I'd regularly use.
Going from the Note 1 to the Note 2 -
The only really brand new thing, to be honest, was the notification light. Which I use a LOT. (everything else was improved maybe 20%, mind you).
I suspect the next big hot trend in mobile technology will be expanded use of Bluetooth LE.

I don't like the word eventually... its like google telling me I'm getting kitkat eventually... still dont have it

Did you think it was just a casual tour of the HQ? I know you can sort of do that.... future field trip/meet idea!
Well, all the inner workings/behind the scenes and icons are new. It'll just be faster and smoother, but no huge visual changes without GEL.
Here's an autoawesome movie i made

Kinda cool, although I think for videos they need to have the normal sound.

Edit: Looks like that's through the full version. Correct?

It'll be obsolete in like 2 months when the S5 comes out. If you can wait there's bound to be crackheaded black Friday deal. I'd check www.slickdeals.net first.
My 4s broke and a buddy is letting me use his old droid x. Its out dated for sure but I like the platform and want to stick with a droid. Just not trying to spend too much. I'll most likely just get the moto x. Its only 49.99 with new contract.

What normal sound are you talking about? I know you can change the sounds used in the auto-awesome video.

But as the others have said, wait until you see all the Black Friday deals before buying a new phone. You can get them for super cheap! I remember last year they were selling the S3 for free on Black Friday - never know what crazy discount they'll give for phones this year.

And I mean to have the original sound from the video like all the cheering and what not. I know you can change the music.
Btw, for everyone that wants free stuff, Google has a bunch of free magazines available on their site now to be used with the new Newsstand app:

Free magazines!
and Doom, the comments for that "guide" are hilarious.... pretty much Engadget ruined their credibility (do they have any left?) when they started out with the 5C as the "on the cheap" option.

so... it looks like in mid Jan, I'm going to be coming back to SoCal (from Vancouver) for about 2 weeks... I'm looking to buy something while I'm in town... I figure something used. I'm currently eyeing the S4 Active (because it rains so damn much here in Vancouver and I DO walk around downtown a lot playing Ingress).
What do you guys think? At the same time, I'm pretty sure Mobilicity is going out of business or will be merged with another company... either way, I can get on a contract and get something new... Around when will the S5 be announced?

It'll be out in Q2 of 2014.
