I've never really thought the NFC feature was a big deal... sure, maybe transferred pics from one person to another at a get together, or perhaps someone's address/phone number etc etc... But I just transferred about 400 songs from my Nexus 4 to the Note 3 and it literally only took seconds to do it
I wasn't sure if it was done right, I had to play some songs randomly to make sure



edit: is this even possible? Now I'm doubting it... but all the songs are there

 

Hmm, you're right to be skeptical. Maybe it was transferred using Wifi? NFC is not used as a transferring medium for large data. It's mainly used in this case to quickly initiate communication. Transferring is then used through bluetooth or Wifi. In this case I think it somehow used Wifi as in Android's Wifi Direct. But even that, still not sure of how transferring over 1GB took that fast.

 

Samsung to Samsung via TouchWiz uses WiFi Direct when using NFC. Now Samsung to another device I'm not sure. I know without TouchWiz, Samsung devices will use Android Beam which uses Bluetooth. Whether or not that's been fixed in KitKat I'm not sure. Anyway, to make sure you transfer via WiFi using NFC, you can use an app like Superbeam. Its one of my favorite apps and allows you to transfer multiple files at a time via WiFi Direct. It doesn't even require you to be on the same network or the other device having NFC because it can use QR Codes. Its an excellent app!

Maybe its cause those songs are in the cloud already?? So they were already there and you didnt know it?

 

no, because prior to using the NFC transfer, there was ONLY one song in the phone, some kind of Samsung theme or song or whatever, I haven't even bother listening to it

 

both devices were on wifi, from LG Nexus 4 to Samsung Note 3 so

so, I've always thought that with lithium ion batteries, it's okay to just keep the device plugged in, even with it's fully charged, but I just noticed this: (see pic)


it says to unplug the battery... I've always kept my devices plugged until I leave the house (which obviously means being kept plugged overnight)... should I be worried with the Note 3?

 

samsung's have always said that. I just leave mine in still. I dunno if its bad or good, but its too much of a hassle and my battery dies quickly that I dont wanna take it off the charger early.

 

stupid moto x site got trashed at 6am and now they're fixing it.

 

Leaving your phone that is fully charged on the charger can be detrimental to your phone battery's lifespan. But since most people change phones so fast now, it won't matter except for the person getting the phone after you.

They were supposed to have it today. THey had huge issues and wouldn't let anyone buy the phone from the motomaker.

They will come back for the deals on Wednesday and Monday like the tweet above states.

I had the beta on my N7 and although it looked amazing, it just seemed like too much work. I'll try it out again on my phone when i get the moto x.

I got the confirmation email for the moto x, and in it, it says it will take another couple hours before they send me a code. I just wanna get it already!! I hope shipping doesn't take forever.

Yea I got it customized,

Navy back, white front, silver accents, ptuki engraved

Mom got cherry back, black front, and black accents with her name engraved

 

picked up mine last Friday, loving it so far despite some bugs I had to figure out... There's soooooo much I still have to learn about this phone.

OK, new Google Hangouts is rolling out and they are allowing you to combine SMS with the chat feature.

Anyone using this combined setup? Impressions?

 

I was using it for a little bit, and it's not a bad thing, but I wanted to have custom ringtones for certain people (that text), so I went back to separating them

 

I turned it on just to try, but am looking for just that type of limitation before I make a final decision.

I use it. Love it. Only thing I do not love is the fact that you can't really save drafts because they disappear when you restart your phone.

Never used custom ringtones for contacts, but LightFlow lets you do that so no biggie. That app seriously is a must-have for all notification light equipped phones.

 

...well, I had assigned a ringtone to my wife so I know it's her just from hearing it, I got really used to it so I wanted to keep it that way

But FWIW, I DO use Hangouts a lot, it just won't be used together with SMS
