Nexus and S3 are the benchmark and makes me wonder where the next level is going. Quad-core processors, 3gb of ram full 1080p screens, I mean it's getting to a point where what else do you need in a mobile device?

Hmmmm, I haven't used the stock browser for the longest time (Galaxy Nexus), decided to try it just now and it's actually faster than Chrome! I think I'm going to switch back

OK...

soft bricked my Galaxy S II in less than a week... UGH!!!!

I tried to use this to get it back but it didnt work... it takes it back to gingerbread

How to Unroot / Unbrick the Samsung Epic 4G Touch - Latest on youtube from GBKing77

Any ideas on how to get it back to stock.. which was 4.0.4 ICS ... or GB even

I think where I went wrong was with this pit file: u1_02_20110310_emmc_EXT4.pit

I have good experience with using ODIN now but 3 cords and 4 ports later ... no joy

Thanks in advance for yalls help!

Check www.samfirmware.com for full stock ODIN builds which tell you which PIT file to use. Not in front of my laptop right now but I'll link to some files tomorrow when I get the chance.

Try this ODIN/TAR package:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...ght=stock+odin

Make sure you follow the directions. You shouldn't need to use the PIT every ODIN flash. Only use it if the whole TAR/ODIN Package fails to flash without it. Also uncheck repartition as that will require you to use a PIT file. As long as you're able to get into Download Mode you should be good.

Do you have another computer available? You could also try uninstalling the drivers from your Device Manager then reinstalling the drivers. When it fails, where does it fail at and what does it say for the error? You could also try Mobile ODIN if you can access your phone and have root already but I've never used it before:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...VvZGluLnBybyJd

You can also check out the Toolkit to see if it'll work for you:

So you see the yellow COM port sign and then it fails right when you click Start? Definitely try reinstalling the drivers.

I did and then I went to a method that gives me ODIN pit and tar files

I have run it about 5 times and this is what I get:

SPH-D710.EG30_CL435803_REV05_user.tar.md5 is valid.
Checking MD5 finished Sucessfully..
Leave CS..
Odin v.3 engine (ID:14)..
File analysis..
SetupConnection..
Initialzation..
Get PIT for mapping..
Firmware update start..
data.img
NAND Write Start!!
factoryfs.img
hidden.img
modem.bin
param.lfs
recovery.bin

It always stops here and will not go on...

This is what I am not getting done...

Sbl.bin
zImage
boot.bin
cache.img
RQT_CLOSE !!
RES OK !!
Removed!!
Completed..
All threads completed. (succeed 1 / failed 0)

It is about 90% done when it takes a dump...

Now when I try to reboot the phone I get the following msg:

Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recvery mode in Kies & try again.

I don't think this is a good thing....

Hmm...Have you tried flashing each image separately?

The file you downloaded should be extractable so you can have each file it tries to flash. Try flashing each individually: PDA, CSC, Phone tar images.

It looks like you're close. Have you tried turning off your Antivirus and also running Odin as administrator: Right-Click on the Odin.exe and run as administrator?

If that doesn't work, try getting another ODIN image file somewhere. Any one that's compatible with your phone as long as you can get it back to any state. I would still try to flash each file individually though, PDA, CSC, Phone.

If you haven't figured it out, 7-Zip can extract TAR files:

Not sure why... phone wont come on at all... superbricked I guess... Ordered another one this morning... should be here soon...

LOL....would've been cheaper to just pay for the wifi hotspot service rather than brick the phone...

....or just bought a hotspot thingamagigger... I have an open line with no phone on it...

so how much screen on time are you guys getting with your phones??

I'm averaging a ltl over 2hrs haha, i need to leave stock and start ROMing to see if i can improve!

i swear i can never stay stock longer than a month now, surprised i even pulled that off haha, probably because i was waiting till the ROM's improved and had some DD'ness in them?

I get about 2 and a half to 3 hours with my Nexus OCed to 1.3 GHz and GPU slightly OCed to 384 MHz, depending on what I'm doing and whether the bulk of my use is on WiFi or 3G. Display brightness plays a big role as well in terms of battery life. A kernel change will do more for your battery than a ROM change. The ROM change will give you extra features to tweak. Surprisingly, I'm still running stock Jelly Bean on both my Nexus and Nexus 7. I'm just waiting for CM10 to drop in Nightly forms officially for both devices which should be any time now. I'm currently running CM10 on my i9000 though.

Well I had an interesting morning.

Ive been running some CM9 build from mid-July on my phone without problems. Then this morning, my phone locked up, rebooted, and started force closing EVERYTHING. Fix permissions wouldnt work, clearing caches wouldnt work. I ended up having to update to the latest nightly. Since I was in a rush to get back up and running, I just went with a CM9 nightly. I plan on flashing a JB build later, but there are too many threads up on XDA about it

/useless banter

Galaxy Note 2 leaks.

LIJDm.jpg

http://translate.googleusercontent.c...l60B46GoUAYr_g

That's a big screen. (That's what she said. ) As expected, Note 2 leaks starting to come out as its about to drop. My friends bought a Note and an S3 the other week and I got to play with both of them. Was teaching them a few things about Android and maybe rooting my friend's Note one of these days when I'm not so busy. The Note may be big but I love the screen space on that phone. Both phones can definitely benefit from the Hardware acceleration in Jelly Bean and I can see both phones being futureproof for a while, if not by Samsung, then by XDA.

Samsung is apparently doing a Galaxy S III tour out here in LA at the mall where they set up booths to try out and explain all the new features of the S III and raffling a S III for every booth you visit. My girlfriend decided to check it out yesterday while she was shopping and she called me up immediately right after asking me if I wanted the phone because she was so impressed with it. First time that's ever happened as she's not really into tech stuff. I guess she wanted to play with the phone more. Lol. I told her I'd just wait for the next Nexus phone since I this Galaxy Nexus is still impressing me at the moment.

ohh yea i know, well the ROM i'm using has tweaked kernels.

Man my NS is getting old! I over clocked to 1.2 and my phone rebooted with updating over the market and trying to go on instagram ahahha

anyway, i like my rom. Theres some nice features. It even has startup tweaks. Dunno what they do but i'll look into them.

TeamViewer QuickSupport

https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...market.samsung

I wonder why it took so long for someone to make something like this. Currently works on Samsung devices 2.3 and up. Doesn't seem compatible with the Nexus but says it should work on my i9000. Haven't tried the app yet.

Update to the Samsung Galaxy S III Jelly Bean leak:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1835931

Flash via ODIN. Its probably not without bugs though. Also, note this is probably only for the international version right now. You will have to check the respective forums for the appropriate port if its already ported.

I haven't noticed any glitchyness but I hate how long it takes to bring up the keyboard sometimes. On my Evo I'll be in the browser, click on the URL bar and have to wait 5 seconds for the swype keyboard to pop up. It doesn't happen all the time but it's irritating.

ah yeah that can get annoying sometimes..guess that's why its in beta.

I researched a bit and it seems isolated to google.com + chrome + swype beta.

swype word prediction and google's auto complete compete with each other and gets screwy. Backspacing makes the cursor jump all over the place and type letters. Guess I'll stick with the stock JB browser.

I don't know what happened but all my music, pictures, videos are gone!! Well, when I go to the music player, it's says there are no songs, when I go to the movie player, it's say no videos, and no photos in my gallery, yet when I go to storage, there are usage in the every category

Should I do a factory reset?

TeamViewer QuickSupport for CM9, maybe CM10 and AOSP ROMs:

Flash it via CWM and make sure you have enough space in your /system/app/ folder. Works great on MIUI on my i9000. Doesn't work on stock Jelly Bean. Someone has to compile it for stock Jelly Bean.
