so my friend upgraded his GSII skyrocket to ICS through Kies, and he says his phone is horrible now and wants to go back. He doesnt like the additional bloatware which i told him to get rid of by disabling them. But now he's complaining about battery life which took a big hit apparently.

You don't need root for either. Better Battery stats should work without root. The disable apps is built into ICS.
Settings --> Apps --> All tab --> Scroll to the app you want to disable --> Disable.
It will be gone from the Launcher and will not use up RAM.

Man that $99 Ouya Android Powered console is taking off on Kickstarter:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...o-game-console
They raised $2 million on the first day! It really does sound like an awesome idea though. Wish they added a little more storage (unless you can hook up a hard drive to it which sounds plausible) and RAM. Current specs are as follows:
I guess since they still have 28 days left and a ton of funding coming in on Kickstarter they can make some modifications to the specs.

Hmmm...not sure what this is: so, let you experts chime in...
The Galaxy S III is terrific. No issues...but, I noticed something odd yesterday when I was just reading up on stuff before sleeping. The condition is that it has to be a dark room with no lighting...but, on certain programs (particularly the e-mail one to my ISP), I can see the LCD's grid dots (and some other ones not aligned) and this pair of thick lines at the bottom of the screen. They are ugly looking...not straight and just look like someone drew with a marker...
In normal room lighting and daytime, you cannot see this. And you can't see this in other programs. Not sure if my description here is making sense...but, just a shot in the dark if anyone has heard or experienced this before?

You might be seeing the effects of the pentile display. Especially noticeable on solid colors (certain colors make it really apparent). But it looks like streaks or lines through the screen in random areas.
Noticed the same thing on my GNex when it was new but either it went away or I dont notice it through my screen protector anymore.
This is considered normal, but some phones have it worse than others.

Code:
echo 0 > /sys/class/backlight/s6e8aa0/acl_set
By default, Samsung enables this to save battery because White colors just gobbles the battery on a Pentile device while Black colors save power. Unfortunately, a side effect of enabling this feature makes the screen look dirty and keeps the colors from looking proper. This is the reason why Voodoo colors and kernels that allow you to tweak the colors came about.

Here's the proper Motorola Circle Widget as expected:
http://www.droid-life.com/2012/07/13...n-your-device/
Looks like you need to be using the Blur launcher as well to use it.
http://www.droid-life.com/2012/07/13...n-your-device/
Instructions:
1. Unzip the .apk files from the .zip.
2. Install all three apps.
3. Launch the Atrix HD launcher and add the circle clock as a widget.

But when I go to the bookmarks and click on anything that's Acurazine, I get this screen and that blue status bar at the top just doesn't move

Was having some issues with Acurazine on my desktop browser. Maybe its a site issue? Does it do the same thing on another site? By the way, just an aside, did you know you can create individual bookmark shortcuts on your home screen that'll launch the site you wanted to?

Yes its normal and its called Content Adaptive Brightness. In TouchWiz there is a setting inside the Display --> PowerSave or something to that effect. Uncheck it if you want it to go away. Haven't used TouchWiz since Gingerbread so I'm not sure if its still there. On the Nexus you will need root and enter the following command in a terminal:
^The above command should also work on any other Samsung Pentile based device as long as you have root. Change the 0 to a 1 if you want to enable it again.

Thanks, dude. Sorry, having problems find that toggle...Is it in Settings?

Something further to that...Is this in the Power Saving settings?
There is a "Background color" option which I have currently unchecked. There is also a a "Screen power saving" option which I do have checked. Is it one of these that causes the weird "dirty" lines and dots?

I think that's it. Looks like they created a new category for it in the latest TouchWiz. But yeah, that should clear up the dirty lines a bit. When Supercurio releases his Voodoo Color app, you can tweak the colors and the contrast some more. The only problem is you would need root and have to wait for him to release it which takes a while in some cases.
So, UNCHECK the "Screen power saving" option...?
#5597

Okay...well, tried it. I unchecked the "Screen power saving" option...went into a dark room with no lighting and I see the "dirty" lines still.
#5598

Yeah that's just the Pentile display. To get rid of it even more you would need to tweak the colors using Voodoo Display or a custom ROM with the color settings.

I'm assuming Voodoo Display is an app I can get from the App Shop...?

I don't have an ETA, but once the website with measurements is ready, and setup wizard in #DisplayExpert finished.
