Wondering if this is still possible...

On my desktop , I stay logged into Gmail in a chrome tab all day, thus I can Google chat with people easily.

On my droidX I have a Google Talk app that is the exact same thing. Now, I cant find Google Talk in the app store to install on a different device. What gives?

I had this problem too when I got my N4. I found out that these are OEM apps and weren't made available in the app store.

But you might ask, what if I delete them? How do I get it back?

You don't really delete it. It's disabled and can be re-enabled under apps.

The GS3 was $150 down, $20 for the next 20 months. The Nexus is cheaper. Once the 20 months pass, your bill basically drops $20. Im paying $67 a month until November of next year, then it drops to $47 a month.
TMO just gave us 2 brand new GS3's all i had to pay was the taxes, when we renewed our service

So full story, this is a Kindle I rooted and put 4.2 on.

Turns out, Talk is only available for the primary user on the tablet and I had two user set up. Wiped it, re-installed the ROM and the Gapps and its there and works.

Not sure if it will be there when I upgrade my phone to the DroidM, though...

Personally, I archive my SMS/MMS to my GMail using SMS Backup+ and you don't need root. I run the app once a week (can be automated) and it backups all texts including MMS with their media under an SMS label on GMail. You can then search all of your SMS/MMS in GMail so they're accessible everywhere and its sorted by date. It will take up your allocated GMail space but you're talking about kilobytes of space here unless you have a lot of MMS files. The app can also restore from your GMail but when I tried it one time it got messy so I no longer do it. Besides I have my SMS app delete after 500 messages.

I read about that before. Seems like an oversight on Google's part. Then again the Multi-User thing isn't 100% complete it seems. Probably won't be an issue if they combine all the GTalk/Voice/Messenger/Hangout in the future though.

How come two? I'm actually going to wait for price to go down or find it cheaper on Craigslist.

Cause I bought 2 N4s last time. That or make one of them into a car dock.

If you don't want to pay taxes and shipping, you can get it here for $59.99
https://www.puremobile.com/lg-mobile...ng-orb-nexus-4

But I'd rather just fork over the extra couple bucks to get it straight from Google. That way, if things go wrong, I won't have to deal with a 3rd party retailer I've never heard of.

Oh just asking cause I thought you were trying to resell one thinking Google might be short on stock with these since the bumper is out of stock again.

It's crazy how people on eBay and Craigslist upcharge these Nexus 4 stuff and I'm sure they've made some sales.

I know cause my wife paid $50 more just to get me the N4

So I got a question. I'm running out of space on my GS3. (I have an external sd but it's at home)
Anyway I was looking at my storage info and I have 7gb worth of miscellaneous files, crazy right?

So I went searching and found my clockworkmod folder to contain 5gb worth of files in it.looking deeper I have a backup which is 2gb. Understandable. Then there's another folder under clockwordmod that has 3gb! Its a folder called blobs. Anyone know what it is? Can I delete I.

To;Dr folder called blobs under clockwordmod folder.taking up 3gb of space. Can it be deleted.

Haha yeah. They limited it to 5 per account, but there are sooo many easy ways around that. Just like the bumpers when they sold out the first time, scalpers will always be there. I still can't believe people paid $60+ for a bumper on ebay.

I just realized that the Nokia Charger came out at $99 and still sells for at least $50 now at 3rd party retailers, so in retrospect, $60 isn't that bad... And if the price goes down like Nokia's (which I doubt), you could get a charger in a few months for $30.

On a brighter note, at least it's still not as ridiculously priced as Apple's lightning cable at $40.

DON'T delete them unless you want your backups rendered unusable. Those blobs are your files. CWM uses them to compare what data has changed between each backup so that it only backs up whats changed and skips things that haven't changed since the last backup which makes each subsequent backups faster.

I stopped making backups for a few months now. I just use Titanium Backup and pull the folder to somewhere safe. I just do clean installs and restore the necessary data with Titanium Backup. Its not as fast as an CWM/Nandroid backup but it gives me a peace of mind when troubleshooting.

Man I wish they had this for the Nex 10... that thing charges so slow over the standard mUsb.

And damn Speed, sorry bout the phone - I know that when a buddy of mine cracked his screen, he went to some local shop and paid $150 for repair.

I see thanks for this. I'm going to do the same haha. I'll just have a backup for the initial install in case it goes wrong or the version is buggy and then just delete it.

I just wanted a backup of stock, which is what it is, but guess i can use xda to go back to stock firmware anytime.

Yup. I don't see the advantage of keeping an Nandroid on my phone or making one any more really. Unless I want to switch ROMs on the fly which is almost never for me as I like to test ROMs for a few hours/days. From a full clean wipe, I can have my phone exactly as it was with all apps and settings in thirty minutes max using Titanium Backup and at least not have to worry about all the stuff that's built up from the previous backup.

There are some instances where an Nandroid is useful though such as times when you forget to unlink Google Wallet to avoid the Secure Element from breaking but I'm not sure if its still necessary to do that any more. (I still do it just to be safe.) An Nandroid in this situation could theoretically allow you to go back to the old image and unlink it. Luckily, I flash ROMs a lot so I have a sequence down on how I do things. Lol.

Looks like 4.2.2 is starting to rollout. Some people are reporting they're getting an OTA. Supposedly addresses the bluetooth streaming issue.

Same here. Then again, I'm on CM10.1 so maybe they fixed it? From what I've read, its certain head units that it stutters with so its probably dependent on that. I use my bluetooth earphones with no stutters just fine.

Why does the Xperia Z have a microphone under its name? It looks overexposed as well. Someone on XDA (who supposedly works for AT&T) is saying that neither the Z or ZL are coming to AT&T as they didn't sign up to get them. He said that AT&T signed up for a Sony flagship phone coming in Fall of this year that's supposed to be like the Z but with upgraded specs.

Yeah, I'm impressed with how the N4 fared, compared to those 2 other phones.

Maybe Sony is finally going to go ahead with their plans to have a full launch in the USA at that time? That would be sweet like key lime pie. Still, I'm peeved that they gave everyone who pre-ordered in the UK a set of MDR-1Rs. I want the MDR-1RBT so badly but it's $400!!!

Looks like the new update might be bringing a Google Now widget along with it... https://support.google.com/nexus/bin...answer=2665844

DashClock Widget looks to be what the CM team was trying to do with Chronus, but so much better and more useful. Made by an Android team engineer.

I hope that the M7 leaked image from yesterday is real as I think it looks really good. However, I have a lot of doubts about it.

Yeah this lockscreen is pretty nice. The design looks great. And its been open sourced so any dev can build on it which I hope they do. Maybe even the Chronus clock can take some code from it. I have an issue with it already though. Its saying I have an unread text message from my sister which obviously I don't as far as I'm aware and it won't go away. I'm gonna have to guess its a side effect of CM 10.1's Read Text Message from the notification bar feature since I use that a lot when I read my texts from there instead of opening the messaging app. (Love that feature btw.) I guess I'll keep an eye on it. Maybe when I receive another text it will go away. Other than that, I wish we can specifiy how far ahead we want it to read our calendar events and change the weather source. Maybe another dev will do that or CM implements it.

Oh Tablet Talk got updated to include Group Messaging now. It got MMS messaging a few updates back but now is feature complete. So you can pretty much do all your sending/receiving SMS/MMS from your tablet now. Pretty awesome.

Looks like more Nexus 4 accessories are to be released soon. Someone spotted these before they were taken down:

At this rate, the Nexus 4 is the fastest to launch accessories for all Nexus devices lol. a few weeks for bumper, 2 months for orb, and now around 3 months for headphones, usb cable, and charger haha. Hooray LG?
