My instructions are as good as they'll get. Watch some YouTube vids to get a clearer understanding. You will need to install a custom Recovery using ODIN like I instructed. Once you have that custom Recovery installed, you can do whatever you want. ODIN will be your friend for Samsung devices. It'll help you go back to stock, root your phone, install other ROMs, kernels, and custom Recoveries. You lose ODIN access, your phone is pretty much a dud.

Glance over this forum to choose the ROM you want to flash:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1496

For CyanogenMod ROMs, there is an extra step of flashing GApps after flashing CyanogenMod which is usually in the instructions on the first post of the thread. Again, watch some YouTube videos to get a clearer understanding. Once you've flashed a ROM, you'll understand how to do it for the rest of the time.

i'm just gonna keep it, and wait till the next nexus phones. Luckily it hasnt done anything to the touch response, and i can barely feel it unless i run my nail over it.

My phones been slowing down though. Its like my processor is burning out.

Time to flash a ROM and/or a new kernel. lol. CM10 nightlies have been working well for my Galaxy S. It doesn't have the same lag it had running the unofficial CM 10 Nightlies just that I think I can only install a small amount of apps because of the data partition. Its alright though since I won't be using this phone as my primary.

Nexus Media Importer

For the people who don't have root. This app is for you:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...aW1wb3J0ZXIiXQ..

Allows you to mount a USB hard drive/stick/SD Card reader without root access. However, it will only allow you to read and NOT write. Also, the stick must be formatted in FAT or FAT32 only.

haha a new rom will just get slow again after a week, and my battery life sucks now haha. Barely getting 2 hrs of screen on time. Its just the effects of an old phone.

Damn the new nexus phones really need to hurry. I'm surprised no info at all has been released about them recently.

Hmmm...Okay. Yeah, it seems to be an every few days occurrence for me. Sometimes an app just stops working properly (i.e. the stop button on my earphones don't work when I'm listening to music and want to put it on pause)...

ohh interesting. There will be times for me when its laggy and it will say thiis app is not responding so i click ok and it force closes but it works when i open it up again. Everything still works though.

The reason it becomes laggy is after time when you open lots of different apps the OS tries to background as many as it can for fast app switching. Which for me is an issue cause i have very ltl ram on my phone. You have a GS2 or 3 right? I dont think this should be a problem for you? If it happens, instead of restarting try holding the home button and swipe away all the apps that way it wont background them.

Yeah, I do that regularly...clearing up the open apps. However, this is more to do with functionality that seems to occasionally croak over time. So, for instance, there's the occasion when I lost 4G (data) connectivity and the only to way to get it back was to restart.

The other is the example I provided earlier about how my pause button on my headphones stopped working.

Just little weird quirks like this.

Not really.

I live in an AT&T dead zone and I eventually gave up and bought a Microcell of ebay.

Another option is to get a t-mobile phone that has wifi calling. Wifi calling is kinda neat but it does require a pretty strong wifi connection.

Why did you buy one. AT&T gives them away for free. Unless they stopped that whole thing...but I would have to believe enough griping through the chain would fix that.

If you have TMobile and you complain enough theyll give you a free cell booster for your house.

I've tried that little stick on gimmick and it didnt do anything.

The 3G microcell actually works and pretty well. My friends farm in MD has NO service whatsoever...but their main house with the microcell is great.

Yea thats what i heard too! I think it was mentioned in the iphone thread? I dont think tmobile does this though, i may stop by their store one day and see. But from what i saw they dont because of some liability like 911 cant track where you are in case of an emergency or something like that. I dunno.

ohh i guess they do. Sweet, but would they give it to me at my college? Cause we've had tmobile, well forever... so they should know that our main house does have good signal, which it does.

Shouldn't matter where your bill goes to, if they don't understand you're a student, press them about when the contract will be up.

My manager complained about signal for a long time with them until he finally
caved in and bought one from them, so they certainly aren't free by default.

I just dumped them for t-mobile, until I was kind of forced back via the Galaxy Note.

I bought a Microcell for AT&T a little more than a year ago and posted about it somewhere in this thread. AT&T was giving them away, and maybe they still are but I'm unsure about that. I bought one because I just didn't want to go through the hassle of dealing with them and I've been with AT&T since they were Cingular so I probably could've gotten one.

Setting it up was a pain in the butt but once it was up, I haven't had any issues. I did buy a GPS dongle because they say the GPS on the microcell is a POS and if you live in a dense building, it will have a hard time getting a lock. It needs your GPS location for e-911 purposes.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/GPS-Antenna-...item3cc6bd47e1

There is a max limit on amount of cellphones that can be attached to the device ~ 10 max and also receiving a call a the same time ~ 4 phone calls simultaneously. Upload speed is capped at 50 kBps if I remember correctly because AT&T used a cheap upload data chip. Wouldn't matter though since you'd be connected via WiFi any way unless you're sending a lot of MMS. Voice quality is better than when there's no reception but its up to your internet's upload speed. I've managed to make call quality crap when I uploaded my Music to Google Music back in the day but otherwise, it shouldn't be affected too much unless you're torrenting at full speed all day every day. My brother did have some issues with his iPhone 4S for a little while but I think has been corrected with recent iOS updates. It would drain his battery to death even though he had full signal bars so he went off it for a few weeks.

Jelly Bean JR03O for Verizon Galaxy Nexus

http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/08...-galaxy-nexus/

If you can't wait then you can download and flash the zip file in the link above. You have to be unlocked, not rooted. Stock everything to flash it.

Here's the other side of the coin on the 3G Microcell which I was afraid of running across when I tried setting mine up:

http://www.3gmicrocellsucks.com/

Again, mine is working fine. It was the setup that took a while and thought it wasn't going to work. You have to wait for an activation e-mail and that varies on how long you receive it before you can actually use the device.

SimplyTapp for Cm 9.1

CM 9.1 has included a Google Wallet alternative called SimplyTapp:

http://www.cyanogenmod.com/blog/cyan...and-simplytapp

You need to buy an NFC card and register it on their site. This is a good alternative for devices not able to use Google Wallet.

google now was updated

http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/08...teams-updates/

One of the coolest features in Jelly Bean, Google Now, just got its first major update since Android 4.1 was released. The update brings some oft-requested features:
Movies - see movie showtimes and more
Public alerts - receive emergency messages such as storm warnings and earthquake alerts
Add favorite sports teams to follow in real time (from Settings)
Support for Korea
now i'm not sure if we have to wait for the update or it automatically changes since it is a platform?

As a long time owner of the Note, I'll say the following:
1) feels a bit weird losing resolution (1280x800 to 1280x720) but I'll be glad to be done with the incompatibilities from using a weird pixel resolution.

2) This pretty much takes care of any complaints I had with the Note 1.
BTW RGB light means we finally have a notification light. YEAH.

3) I'm not horribly thrilled that the Note is 4 mm longer, pushing pocketability even further. But we are getting a battery that has 25% more capacity, so ummmm, okay.

For me, the most signifigant upgrades are:

1) 25% bigger battery. 'nuff said.

2) More Memory. My phone is loaded - 250 apps, and after bootup I'm down to 250 megs free. Having another gig is more than welcome (although half gig would have been fine too).

3) Faster CPU. Quad core might be overrated, but my note is a bit choppy playing intense games. Also faster cpu is welcome for long operations like backups, installing roms, etc.

4) Notification light. NoLED was okay, but it can really bleed the battery.

5) .2" bigger screen is offset by new aspect ratio, but it's still 4% bigger. DPI took a slight hit due to the new resolution though. (285 -> 264)

Having a nicer stylus (bigger size, rubberized tip) might make me use it more. that's a big 'might' - i never use it now.

HBO Go and MAX Go got updated for Jelly Bean support today.

HBO Go and MAX Go now work on Jelly Bean. At least on my Galaxy Nexus running CM10. On my Nexus 7, also running CM10, only HBO Go works. Maybe they need to fix the update on the MAX Go because it doesn't work on my TF101 running ICS. I had to revert back to version 1.5 of MAX Go for it to work on the TF101. The Play Store hasn't been updated yet to allow you to download either file if you're running Jelly Bean but I've uploaded the APKs if you guys want it:

HBO Go 1.7.1:

MAX Go 1.7.1:

Just download and sideload like you normally would. No root required. Let me know if MAX Go works on stock Jelly Bean on the Nexus 7. Maybe its missing a few files on CM10 or something to allow it to work.
