An even better and longer overview of the Note II. Lots of new cool features especially with the stylus:

why is it, whenever you take your case off the phone... the phone looks soooooooo nice. I mean... to a point where it looks like a completely different phone?? Every time I see a working Galaxy Nexus demo at the store, I think to myself that it looks waaaaaay better than mine (even tho it's the same phone). I've decided to go bare with my GNex and just take the chance, I want to enjoy the design, the way it was meant to be used/seen (at least for a couple days)

It's just something different. Pick a less ugly case

I mainly notice the thinness, but I hate how slippery the GNex is. I prefer the way my case looks on it.

I actually have, what I think is the best looking case... well, it's a bumper and still keeps it's thinness... I even got a white battery cover to match... but still, something about it totally bare just looks sooooo much better to me...

we'll see how I feel a couple days later.

When i had my iphone 3G back in the day i got a case, but over a couple months time it just looked bad. I didnt like the feel thickness and you lose the amazing looks of the phone.

That was the only time i've had a case on a phone of mine, whether it be my moto razr i owned, or even my NS i never had another case. And i love having no case even after cracking my screen haha

It is personal preference then... I used a TPU case for a while, then I changed over to caseless for a month and I liked it. But near the end of that I couldn't wait to get a new case on it. I almost paid for the one-day shipping option on Amazon (which I have never done)

I think the biggest thing is that I'm a tactile person above all. I don't look look at my phone so much as I touch it, and even when I look at it, I look at the screen. I like the feel of the silicone and rubberized plastic of my case. It is thick, but I never notice the difference in my pocket.... and in my hand, it is much more secure than before

I had a 3GS too, and while I liked the curvy ergonomic shape, the bare plastic was too slippery for my taste. The iPhone 4S looks great but I hate the way it feels in my hand, it's an example of form over function

I like the way the phones feel without the case too haha, its all a matter of opinion.

My biggest gripe though is screen protectors. I hate the feeling and i can never have them on my phone haha.

And yea i've heald the iphone 4/4s. Its probably the best looking phone our there. But the sharp edges is really really annoying to hold in my hand.

I bought the full coverage skin from Best Skin Ever for my GNex and just applied the back piece to the battery door. It is very grippy and of course is thin and clear protection.

I killed by old phone when I dropped it on a concrete sidewalk. That's why I got an Otterbox case for my Galaxy Nexus. I'd rather have a slightly unsightly phone than one that doesn't work.

They are such opposites. The thing that impress me about the Note/Note 2 is that the stylus is pressure sensitive, which is something NO (portable) tablets out there can claim (to my understanding), so for artists and/or people in the line of work that calls for this ability, it's a HUGE plus. THAT said, I saw a girl talking with the Note the other day and it DID look rather silly seeing her holding such a large phone to her face, it didn't help that she was very petite too.

As for the iphone 5, does anyone even know the exact specs yet? (sorry, I don't really following Apple/iPhone news)

not much yet. Expect at least a 4inch display. Smaller dock pin, aux input moved to the bottom of the phone. Expect it to be faster than it is now. Better camera. Dunno about 4g though.

IMO i'd take an iphone over a note 2. Even though i dont know the specs of both haha. I really think for the most part nexus phones can compete against the iphone. But then again like you said the note 2 is better for certain people, thats not me though.

The latest CM10 Nightlies added a SMS Popup setting like how the iPhone, MIUI SMS notifications come in:

MYY7j.png eRL6G.png

http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/09...e-quick-reply/

Personally, I hate that feature and there are apps that already do the same function:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...5zbXNwb3B1cCJd

I do, however, like the "Quick Reply" option in the notification bar. Not sure why this isn't in the default JB messaging app but its very useful.

Current indications are it'll be out on all four carries before the end of the year.
The international will be end of month/early october.

Only the t-mobile one will have the 1700 band needed for tmobile 3g.

for the bumper, just search in eBay for "TPU Bumper Galaxy Nexus" and you'll get a bunch of listings. They are ALL in China/Hong Kong, so expect a good long wait. They all say "i9250" but according to people with Verizon LTE GNex, they still fit. These cases are REALLY cheap... and by that, I mean both the price AND the built. Which is why I bought 2 the 2nd time (so, I've had 3 of these).

The white part isn't TPU as advertised... it's more just plastic. But IMO honest opinion, it's the BEST looking case or in the case bumper for the GNex. But seriously, buy more than one.

As for the white battery door... the seller I got it from sold out all the white ones... but I found this, not sure if it's the same quality

Google Wallet Pre-Paid (Money Networks) is being discontinued.

http://www.google.com/wallet/prepaid-refund/

Important dates affecting your Google Prepaid Card

September 17, 2012: You will no longer be able to add funds to your Google Prepaid Card or add a new Google Prepaid Card to a new device. Please be aware that resetting the Wallet app after this date will remove the Google Prepaid Card and you will not be able to re-add the card. Find out more.

October 17, 2012: Your Google Prepaid Card will disappear from the Wallet app and you won’t be able to spend your balance any longer. Don’t worry, you will be able to request a refund if you have remaining funds by visiting this site.
Better use up that free $10 before it goes bye bye. Also, don't plan on changing ROMs before you use up your prepaid credits after the 17th because the pre-paid card will be gone if you try to reactivate your Wallet. You can of course still create a Pre-Paid card via the other credit card companies.

New Google Now Easter Egg:

"Bacon number name of actor"

http://gawker.com/5943017/google-unv...om-kevin-bacon

Competitive Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon players the world over have just been handed the ultimate cheat: Google has embedded a "Bacon Number" Easter egg into their search system, making the distance between you and the number of roles between an actor and Kevin Bacon even shorter.

To use, simply type the words "Bacon number," followed by the name of an actor.

Yossi Matias, the lead engineer who spearheaded this new function, told The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision the goal was to show how good Google is at sniffing out "the deeply rooted connections between people."

New York Magazine's Dan Amira notes that establishes sites like The Oracle of Bacon still do a better job at connecting between Bacon and more obscure actors, but given Google's adaptability, chances are you'll be finding your own Bacon Number before long.

Lag fix for CM10 based ROMs (CM10, Paranoid Android, Jellybro)

Apparently some CM10 based ROMs are not getting the full project butter due to a change in the "libsurfaceflinger.so". Someone created a zip file to replace the libsurfaceflinger.so in the latest nightlies with one that was getting the full butter speed:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1875490

I've flashed the fix on both my Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7 and there's a considerable difference in speed between the Nightly without the fix and with the fix. It also fixed the flickering I was getting on my Nexus 7 when scrolling through large amount of pictures.

If you flash this and your phone fails to boot, just reflash your current ROM without wiping. Nothing to lose trying out this fix. Some people are saying it also fixed their lag in AOKP. You can also manually push the file yourself using Root Explorer and navigating to the /system/lib/ folder. Don't forget to change permissions to rw-r--r--.

^That reminds me. The latest CyanogenMod Nightlies just added Burst Shot Mode up to 20 Pictures and a Timer Mode. They also added the ability to change the quality of the pictures from Low --> Medium --> High --> Super. Zoom In/Out is done via volume control in addition to the on screen controls and the Power Button can be used to take pictures. You have to use the GApps provided by Goo-IM to take advantage of the said features above with the tradeoff that you lose PicasaSync in the Gallery (Not a big deal).

http://goo.im/gapps/

They also added a Stopwatch and Countdown Timer built into the Clock app. You swipe to access them instead of having to install a separate app from the Play Store:

VaE1Z.png twSek.png

Coming up will be the Graphing Calculator built into the regular calculator app:

http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/09...fault-in-cm10/

You can install it from the Play Store if you can't wait:

Well after what was released recently, I don't think they're in a rush. Motorola and Intel are supposed to announce an Edge-To-Edge screen (minimal bezels) on the 18th which sounds very interesting. The new Intel Medfield processors are performing great but the downside is the app compatibility issues.

Have you guys seen the Oppo Finder X907? Now this is the thinnest phone coming in at 6.65 mm and its got some nice specs to boot:

5" Display
1920x1080 Resolution (DPI of 441 even better than the Retina Displays)
Qualcomm S4 APQ8064 (Their new generation Quadcore Processors)

Now only if they sold outside of China.

I guess this is HTC's next flagship phone:

It turns out that the HTC 6435LVW is everything we were hoping for. A reliable source has confirmed that the devices does feature a 5-inch 1080p HD display and is nearly identical to the mysterious black HTC device we’re already seen. Our source has confirmed a 480ppi display, quad-core Snapdragon S4, 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. He also points out that there is a second notification LED for calls/missed alerts/charging on the back of the device near the camera.

Currently, the device is being referred to as the HTC DIx, but the name is still up in the air. Our source believes that the HTC phablet will be marketed under the DROID name due to the “red techno” background and an unmistakable robotic “DROID” notification sound. Based on that, we’re going to assume the DIx name stands for DROID Incredible X.

While a 5-inch phablet from HTC would need active pen input to directly compete with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note II, our source was not able to get the HTC Scribe pen from the Flyer to work with the device. It could be that the software has not yet been enabled, but we’re doubtful that the HTC DIx will feature active pen support. HTC has also decided not to equip the HTC DIx with a microSD card slot for external storage and the battery is said to be non-removable. This news will certainly be a disappointment to many.

Our source has been reliable in the past, but some of the details he has presented so not directly match up with previous rumors about the HTC 6435LVW. Benchmark scores have shown the HTC 6435LVW is powered by a dual-core Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon S4 with a 1794 x 1080 display featuring a pixel density of 418ppi.

As of now, the HTC DIx (HTC DROID Incredible X) is the device I am most excited about. The HTC One X+ with an NVIDIA Tegra 3 Plus will certainly make a lot of people happy, but the prospect of having a phone with Qaulcomm’s quad-core Snapdragon S4 with a 5-inch 1080p display is too compelling to overlook.

480 ppi??? Insane if true. I guess 720p displays on the phones will be old spec come next round of Android devices. Look like 1080p is the next frontier.

Man I hope the nexus phones don't get much bigger than the gnex. Bigger than that may be too big for me.

And hopefully they Go all out with the display as well.

Same, and I've felt that a screen between 4.3" and 4.5" would be perfect. I love the GNex screen when using it two-handed, watching a video or just scrolling through text/photos but the phone itself just feels like its a little too big.

GNex is too big. The S3, even though it has a 4.8" screen, feels smaller.
