NBA: 2011-2012 Season News and Discussion Thread

failhard.
This fucking Celtics/76ers game is fucking atrocious. The referees have completely taken over the game calling bullshit fouls and techs and made the C's momentum absolutely stop in their tracks. It allowed Philly to catch up. In the first quarter, I believe they only had 2 field goals, with 20-something points from free throws. This game should not be this fucking close. I don't think I've ever been this mad at a game before.
Fuck these fucking refs. I hate how much power Stern has given them, since no one that matters can say or do a damn thing about it.
Even just now, the 76ers coach Collins admitted they should be down by 20 or more points.

IMO...The only thing he needs to be frustrated with is HIS OWN GAME! LeBron is holding his own and everyone elses with the rare exception of someone like Chambers. But Wade really needs to be that 1-2 man as they done all yr. No excuses IMO. They been dominating as one of the highest scoring teams all yr...and now? And just GUESS!!! wqho will get the blame when they fail on reaching the next round or Finals...
YEP! ~ #1) LeBron! Then #2) Bosh's absence and last, Wade garbage as performance during the playoffs.

So, what we're saying...based on the comments...is that I should change his name to LeWhine instead of calling him LeWade?
Okay. Done.

Damn looks like tomorrow might be an elimination game...

Man, I really hope the Spurs can finally be a team who will know how to play a close game with the Thunder & still close out.
The Lakers are not looking like they'll move past the Thunder, even with home court advantage right now.

Nice job LA. This is a much needed win & another one tomorrow could make this a really interesting series.
#1891
could have EASILY been up 2-1 on the Thunder....
Oh well, good win tonight, but no time for rest.

No you got it wrong the regular season doesn't mean nearly as much to these guys as the playoffs and ultimately the NBA championship. When it comes to the post season Lebron does good until the pressures on and right now the pressures on so he's doing is disappearing act again. Wade is a NBA champ and he knows what it takes to get there but he sees the chink in Lebron's armor more than anyone and now with Bosh down it just made things even worse. If they don't win the Finals Lebron will get most of the blame even though it won't be all his fault I personally would blame the coaching staff.
WOW...what a game! I personally DO NOT LIKE THA LAKERS. But as a sports fan I sure appreciate a tooth and nail battle as that game was with all stars rising to the challenge.
On a side note... I really dislike Meta World Peace of SHIT! That attitude and behavior is not needed and should not be tolerated even to a small degree. And in his case, there is a looooooooong history of this and he has proven he will never change!

Today's NBA is soft even compared to as recent as a decade ago honestly MWP's style of tough play would probably be considered weak compared to 80's and early 90's. Every team needs at least one enforcer and MWP is that for the Lakers he might get out of hand sometimes but you have to respect that and the incident with Westbrook last night was nothing.
#1894
^^initiated by Westbrook, as was the James Harden incident. But completely agree, that was nothing compared to the 80s.

Griffin is having an insane game right now, since he appears to have been developing his jumper. I think he's 8/9 FGs right now. I haven't seen as many highlight dunks from him in the playoffs. Good shit.
Bigger story, the invincible Spurs are losing by 20.

I am glad the CLIPPERS are winning...I for one, like to see some 6-7 game series and not sweeps or blow outs. And the CLIPPERS are putting on a show! And yes ^ against the well oiled machine of the SPURS who IMO, are the best fundamental scoring and playing team on both sides of the ball. They just have that chemistry that can not be matched or replaced with "Superstar" pick ups. They been doing it for a long time with the same rooted players they have on the floor today.

The missed free throws killed the Clippers (among other things)

lol, I love Pop's hack-a-Reggie-Evans strategy to prevent a comeback. Straight trollin'!
I loved Tony Parker's post-game interview. I think he said something along the lines of "The main theme of halftime was don't panic, we'll come back". Then it cuts to Parker, Pop and Duncan on the bench, just chillin' and laughing before the 3rd quarter, even with a 10-point deficit in their faces. This team is fucking scary.

Like I said before the Spurs are just toying with the Clippers they know that with they way they have been playing this season their confidence is to the level of them knowing they can beat any team anytime anywhere. I hate to say it but I don't see any of the remaining teams beating the SPURS in a seven game series.

But dam I will be glued to my seat when OKC and the SPURS meet. Should be a FINAL setting within this game alone.

The Spurs are probably the best team in the league, but its starting to seep into my mind that so many elite players went down with injuries, and so much crap happened this year, that this might be more championship by circumstance if they were to win it.
That said, I love the way they play.

I don't understand why Brown went away from Sessions he was playing well going to the basket and because there was no inside penetration the Thunder just collasped on Bynum and they couldn't get him the ball thus all the outside shots which allowed the Thunder to comeback. I think the Lakers need to rethink this Mike Brown hire and part ways with him at the end of the season.

While it might have been good to get CP3 I don't share your thoughts about that because Pau would be gone so now you have CP3 and who steps in to Pau's role? No player on the Lakers bench could produce the overall points/assist/rebound numbers of Pau. Bynum has thrived this season mainly because Pau is a threat and if you take him away I really don't think Bynum is ready to thrive alone in the middle. I think if we got CP3 we probably wouldn't have been as good as they were this season.

They may not have done better, or they may have done worse as you suggest, but Pau and Lamar weren't getting any younger.
To add insult to injury, CP3 is playing in the same arena, taking some market share and making an another competitor in our division. I guess David Stern doesn't owe its most valuable and highest revenue sharing franchise, anything.
As a group, this team needed a change in dynamic. I LOVE Pau, think he was the best power forward for a couple of years, but he's getting older, he's 'soft', and his role is diminished by Bynum's emergence. The Lakers aren't getting their cost/benefit for him anymore, so its time for a trade in the off-season.
