NBA: 2011-2012 Season News and Discussion Thread

Was at the Clippers-Memphis game yesterday. Man, I still can't get over how crazy athletic these giants are in person. Pretty gutsy game by both teams. No real animosity, just hard play. Zach Randolph gave a hard foul to Blake Griffin, but it seemed like they are pretty cool afterward.
Other notes:
-Griffin isn't the guy he was during the regular season. You can tell he feels a bit of pressure to perform and doesn't quite know when to attack.
-Marc Gasol is a BIG dude. Rudy was pretty clutch, until good defense stopped him.
-Staples Center is THE place to be, sport-wise in LA. Its 3 occupants are in the playoffs, and they are doing well. Win or lose, somebody's making a shitload of money, and its pretty fun. The atmosphere was electric during and after the win.
Lastly, got to fist bump Clipper Darrell and ran into Jim Harrick (last UCLA bball coach to win a NCAA championship in 95) in the bathroom of all places. lol...

I don't really care, but from what I hear, Sterling has shown his face in the office 1 or 2 times out of 3 years.

Did anyone see Baron Davis just bust his knee?
#1569
failhard.
Yet another point guard down with a knee injury. Bibby better watch himself.
That shit looked nasty though. Nobody wanted to look at it lol. People are saying it looks like a dislocated patella.

True, but Bibby's almost too slow to injury his knee now, lol.

Me too...but I didn't pay. I have a friend who's an exec, so we got his seats, got comped a meal, and drinks. My friend is actually a diehard laker fan, but once you start working for an organization, you tend to root for their success.

Good win by the Lakers it was a good hard fought game.
Good win by the Knicks even though they can't win the series Carmelo Anthony not Amare Stupidmire is the heart of the Knicks because when the pressure is on Carmelo steps up and Amare punches fire extinguishers.
With 13 plus seconds left that was the worst play that the Heat could have run at the end of the game. There was many different things that could have been done but they didn't seem to have a clue.
Josh Smith and Al Horford were back playing and Atlanta just damn choked no other way to explain such a collapse.

That was a bit tough to watch.
On a similar note, right after the game, a couple articles were writing that Lin was trying to get back in better shape so he could fill in for Davis, but it seems the coach this morning is calling it unlikely (as with Game 4).

What was up with the chick that ran on to the floor of the Nuggets-Lakers game yesterday?
Heard she was yelling for Kenyon Martin (who's now with the Clips) or wanted to have JaVale Maggee's baby or something.

I shoot people
the Clips NEED to take care business tonight... if they lose, then home court goes back to Memphis and the whole point of the epic stealing of game 1 would be wasted

they gotta take care of business at home. I don't think they can afford to play a best of 3 with 2 of them in Memphis. I'm nervous since no one has yet to win 2 in a row, but hopefully Blake's playoff jitters are subsiding, he hasn't looked the same yet. The last two games of the regular season he was hitting the outside jumpers at an amazing rate, I was hoping he'd roll that into the playoffs, but I haven't seen it yet. Hopefully they can hit some g'dang FTs too

Believe it or not, Reggie Evans has been the key for the Clips in this series. Guy just hustles for balls.

BTW, Baron Davis... partial tear of patella tendon, complete tear of ACL and MCL, as per NYK tweet.

Early Reports are saying Baron has partial tear of the patella tendon, and complete tears of ACL and MCL.

Good fucking lord.
I'll give him this though. He went out the Garden like a boss. Smiling on a stretcher through injuries like that, where everyone around him was turning the fuck away in disgust. Plus the Knicks won!

Is that worse than Livingston? Does anyone remember?

No, Pat Riley loves coach Spo. If anything it will be an overhaul of the bench, the bench had not contributed as needed. Although I don't agree with benching James Jones with battier and Miller hogging the minutes there is no space for him.

^ Dude, I won't stop laughing until I die if the LeHeat fail to win it this year. Seriously, who the eff stands in their way now that the Bulls are screwed?
No one.
While the Thunder and Spurs look impressive, they are no match for Miami. And no, I'm no even snarking about the LeHeat's supremacy here. They have no one standing in their way this year.

Let them play at San Antonio & see how they stack up. Oklahoma, from the season, is more than capable of holding Miami.

I honestly am not sold on OKC's defence. San Antonio is good...but, in a 7 game series, they may not be able to keep up with Miami. Their age is against them IMO.

You won't be the only one pissed if it doesn't go to plan this year.

Props to the Jazz for even making the playoffs this year. They were originally predicted by many to be at or near last place in the west. They're gonna have a mean fucking front court next season.
