Asian isn't the same as Asian American. I'm Asian American (depending on who you talk to) so I'm pulling for the guy. As for Yao, that's like saying Manute Bol and John Wall are of the same background.
I don't disagree with you...but to put his night against the Jazz in perspective, you have to go back to Isiah Thomas to find that kind of night on his first start. So those 2 games are a pretty good for any NBA player barring Kobe, Lebron, Wade, Rose, etc.
He'll be stopped at some point, but its still pretty cool....better than Jimmer's doing....

failhard.
We all make mistakes. That brought back memories of Youtube heydeys.
Can we start calling Lin legitimate now? He dropped another 20+ points, plus 10 assists tonight. He outplayed Deron Williams, hung with John Wall and played well against a really solid Jazz team. Does dude have to win the Stanley Cup next? :|

And did the LeHeat lose yesterday?

The next question's probably gonna be, who's gonna stop him. Lakers are coming into MSG friday or saturday...and you know we have some GREAT point guards.

In any case Lin is the next Tebow (as far as hype is concerned) next thing you know they'll be talking about him being an All Star Sub.

I'm Down Right Fierce!
I'm 5'11, 155 lbs and asian-american. Whenever I step onto a basketball court non-asians expect me to suck. They don't expect that I've played competitive ball since I could walk, started on varsity all 4 years of HS, and even played with the practice squad for college.
So I understand the #Linsanity hype - he is the first legitimate asian-american player in the NBA.
The only thing I don't understand is why people discount his individual performance against crappy teams. Even if the Wiz/Nets are terrible, Lin outplayed their star guards (Wall/DWill), something that other legitimate players can't do.
Now do I think he's going to be a star... hard to say. I'm certain he can ball me up.... but I still think his left hand is suspect, and he needs to develop a long ball game. If he's not a threat from the 17ft to the 3 pt arc, at best he'll be a serviceable PG.
Second real test (first was against Jazz) comes this Friday night against the Lakers. If JLin starts penetrating to the basket like he did in the first 3 games, they'll put Kobe on him and well...

It was fun proving doubters wrong, so ya, Jeremy's a bit of a fun story for me to follow. Especially now that I'm 36 and I'm not doing those things anymore.

I won't lie, I'm okay at basketball but no Wang Zhizhi.
I'm a pretty good shooter though. Dribbling and etc., mediocre at best.

The thing we have to remember with Jeremy though, is that Amare AND Melo are out. These guys are ball-dominant, so he may not get his run of the offense when they come back.
Still, if he averaged less than what he's been getting, like 10-15 pts/game and say 4 assists, that's still pretty good for basically a walk-on. Read that he'll make less this year than Kobe makes in a game.

Just because he outplayed the other guards on those squads means nothing because those guys are miserable because they are on losing teams and I know that Deron Williams is biding his time and just waiting to either get traded or leave the only way the Nets keep him is if they get D Howard or some other star players to surround him.
Don't get me wrong Lin is doing good for himself and I wish the Lakers currently had a point guard playing like him now.

In my opinion the Lakers won't be a test for Lin because they have always had problems stopping good point guards and their defense of that position is horrible.

Agree lakers have been getting torn apart by good PGs, but interested to see how Lin will take on Kobe's defense. Kobe for sure isn't the type to under-estimate anyone, and if Lin burns the Lake's PG a few times, I expect the switch to happen.

From LeBron:
I agree. It's mostly his fault.
James You could be watching cartoons with your kids and you don't like it, you say, 'Blame it on LeBron.' If you go to the grocery store and they don't have the milk that you like, you just say, 'It's LeBron's fault.'

Heading home via NY Penn in an hour or so, I'm tempted to go upstairs to The Garden and check out the game tonight.
Sidenote: I wonder how long it will be before someone slights Lin for being a Born Again Christian.

LINsanity for real, dude went off 38 points.
Not even that he carried the team, made huge defensive plays, and just energized the team in general.
Living in LA all my life I have been a Laker fan since I was 7 or 8 years old but I found myself actually rooting for the Knicks in this game.
