And the offense. I don't see the 2 game lead lasting the way they are playing.
Baltimore & Tampa are playing way too good right now.

This kind of sums up the season for the Yankees.

They're saying Votto will be back tomorrow, but I'm not holding my breath since it keeps being pushed back, but he can take as long as he needs since we've shown he's not needed to win.

If he wouldn't have got injured and continued on the pace he was on, we could have potentially had the Cy Young, Rookie of The Year, and MVP this year (assuming Frazier and Cueto win)

^^ At least your not a TWINS fan like me.
There just trying to not be in the basement when the season ends, - well that and avoid the coveted 100 losses.

We used to have a few Twins fans around here, notably bgsmith and Illinorge. Haven't seen any around in a while though. How do you like Target Field?

I can't believe I still have not went to a game yet at the new Target Field.
I have heard only great things about it.

They've sunk a bit...then again, goes with the changing times in the Central. When the only true big-spender are the Tigers, it kinda makes the more thrifty teams in that division kinda a toss-up.

Honestly, I'm surprised the ChiSox have held onto 1st place for so long.

If they can manage to win the series between them and the other teams the rest of the way they should be in good shape.

I really, really want to see Washington do well in the postseason this year, but I have a feeling curtailing Strasburg will bite them in the ass. That said, I would love a Nat's/A's world series, or even Gints/A's would be nice.

I would love to see an A's / Reds World Series, although MLB would hate it. Obviously a ton of history between the clubs in the WS.

On a related note, I just registered for a chance to purchase Playoff/WS tickets

Ordered A's postseason tickets today. Surprisingly inexpensive.

Hoping for a strong finish. I think a Nats/A's series would be cool. Plus a good excuse to go back to DC.

You were able to buy actual tickets already?? If so, which round(s) of the playoffs?

Put in the post season order. All games to allow for refund versus payment being applied to next year. I dont think tickets are available to those without some type of season package.

And the slide continues

Im curious though, now that theyve expanded the post season with an additional WC spot, what happens if there is a three way tie for the WC? Who plays who?

For that matter, how the hell is the two WCs going to work out? There would be 5 teams from each league. Does one team get a "bye" similar to football? Clearly, I didnt pay a whole lot of attention when this was announced.

It hurts my head to figure out all that mess.
Why they made it so complex is baffling.
I will say at least the redsox are not contending. I have some joy......

Yea, theyre unveiling the Ripken statue.

I might go to the game Sunday, but the way the Yanks are playing, I dont want to see them. I turned the game off last night because they disgusted me so much.

that is why i want to go. my fiance and i have gone to all the statue games this year bc were collecting them...and we had tix lined up for this game (or so i thought) but at the 11th hour i was told that my friends no longer had tickets...so i'm a bit annoyed to say the least. had i known, i would have bought tix a month ago instead of assuming i already had a set.

live and learn.

My understanding is that the two WC's play a one game playoff, whoever wins advances to the NLDS/ALDS. I could be wrong on that however.

He sounded like a guy on his death bed wanting someone to put him out of his misery. It was kinda sad, really. I think the league completely changed on him in his coaching absence and he's way in over his head.

Anyways, how about McCarthy getting drilled in the head

Obviously this has brought back the whole "pitchers wearing helmets" debate.

I'm surprised I haven't heard anyone propose a helmet design that looks exactly like a current hat. Would kinda shut everybody up

Robertson....What can you do, he just has not pitched the same since he came back from the DL. He's horrible actually. Why he was pitching in a tie game I have no idea.

The entire pitching staff is a mess, aside from Kuroda who is pitching decently well and Soriano who isn't given the opportunity to close out games when the starters/middle relief can't hold a lead. I was disgusted with them last night.

Their offense is sputtering too. Theres no way they can advance in the playoffs in their current state, assuming they even make the playoffs now.

I'm sure I'd like the guy if I met him, but something about him calling games...and I just wanted to give you some hell

I feel the same way about pretty much the entire Padres staff (besides Jerry Coleman). I'm sure it's the same with some people not liking Marty Brenneman though for whatever reason.

As a perennial Yankee's and Red Sox hater, I would be overjoyed to see neither of them make the playoffs. I would really like to see Baltimore win the division personally.

Hell, my pick for each division and the WC would go as follows:
AL East: Baltimore
AL Central: Detroit
AL West: Texas
AL WC 1: Oakland
AL WC 2: Tampa Bay

NL East: Washington
NL Central: Cincinnati
NL West: San Francisco
NL WC 1: St. Louis
NL WC 2: Arizona

Arizona is probably the only team highly unlikely to make it, but I hate the Dodgers and do not care for the Pirates at all. The Braves will choke again, so they're of little worry to me.
