Anybody else think he might retire after this year? Nobody in their right mind would give him a big contract, and there's no way he would settle for a platoon/bench job.

I was also checking out his stats on baseball reference. I forgot all about him being ROY and MVP in 2001. It's also amazing how few walks he has per year and still keeps such a high OBP

Marlins traded Infante and Anibal Sanchez for prospects. Jacob Turner is supposedly a stud and one scout deemed him untradable. I liked Sanchez. He really matured here and had a no hitter. Infante was a nice surprise too.

Yankees doing what they always do. Patch a season to win a series. He's gone after the year I'm sure. Only reason they got him was it was a cheap deal & they needed an outfielder since Gardner is out. He hits too so now maybe they won't be leaving runners on 2nd or 3rd 5 times a game.

I would love to see the ChiSox get some starting pitching help...the rookies are going to be alright but they are relying on too many to be in a pennant race.

Yikes, A-Rod broke his hand tonight.

Nice trade by the Pirates to get Wandy Rodriguez. I think they'll get one of the Wild Cards, but we all know the Reds will get the division

Astros are gonna be in the cellar for a LONG time.

Speaking of the Sox, my annual baseball trip group is going back to Chicago for two Reds/Cubs games in a few weeks. I was thinking about swinging over to U.S. Cellular for a night game vs. the A's that Friday.

Any recommendations if I do? Good areas to sit or anything like that? Or is it even worth going to the south side of town?

The Yankees seem to play better with him out.

Hanley to the Dodgers We officially lost the Lowell/Beckett trade. I hear the prospects aren't the caliber of what we got from Detroit.

US Cellular Field is not as...nice...as Wrigley. Then again, few ballparks are. Fenway and Yankee Stadium come to mind.

That being said, you get what you pay for in regards for seats. Certain sections are say, very rowdy. And well, I never sat back there.

And yes, this is the south. So, not exactly prime real estate. Still, watching the ChiSox this year can be entertaining (from what I've caught on the tube). Spunky little team...well managed by Ventura.

Yeah, I'm not expecting anything like Wrigley, I just have a goal to visit as many stadiums as possible, and since I'll be in the area

Hopefully the train runs down there, and I can convince some other people to go. Two baseball games in one day may turn some of them off

I bet he rebounds with the change of scenery. I kept hearing Oakland was trying to get him.

How can people turn down a game of baseball? It's the most relaxing sport to watch from the stands. I love it.

Have some beer, food...sit back and relax.

Eh, some are just there for the trip and not real baseball fans. Luckily my brother is going this year and I'm sure he'd be up for a night game.

It's too soon to judge if he's good for the team. I knew he'd be controversial as hell but I didn't think the Castro thing would occur. I knew his commy ties would bite him in the ass but not like that. Plus with The Franchise cameras on him you get a greater idea of how he is.

I've watched enough of Hanley to know he'll help out the Dodgers out west. He's now mature enough to know it's time to turn on his talents and skills instead of trying to be, "Mr.Marlin."

Matt Harvey Ks 11 Diamondbacks for his debut! w00t! i'm excited about all of the Mets young arms for the future.

WBC 2013 news:

Marlins park(Miami) & Chase field(Arizona) will host round 2 of the WBC. AT&T park(San Francisco) will host the semi-finals & finals. I mean, in March, isn't it a bit too cold up in northern Cali? well, not as cold as the northeast lol...

I read that Japan may host the first and second round for the Asia pool? From not participating to hosting two rounds...they've got to make up their mind. In Asia, Japan has indoor baseball stadiums so it makes sense in March...

I have a 80% chance of going to Japan in March to watch WBC Korea vs Japan w00t!!!

And 2 hits. He does need to learn to keep his pitches low though. Otherwise he is going to get rocked.

Liriano is a ChiSox. I wonder which pitcher they will get...the unhittable one or the guy who is all over the map.

This supposed to be in red??

While we've had the best bullpen in the league all year by the numbers, there's bound to be some wear and tear by the end. Ondrusek has faded towards the end in the past, and Bray just went on the DL, although I don't think he's hurt, just ineffective. Hopefully Nick Masset can make it back soon

I like the trade, but would've liked to see some bench/leadoff help instead, although there were slim pickings. Glad they didn't make any major moves though.

Oh and Chapman is the nastiest pitcher I've ever seen, by far.

Can't wait to see him starting. I'm wondering if the Broxton trade has something to do with that

He hasnt pitched in a very long time. And the game was a blow-out, perfect opportunity to let him face a few batters.

Was 99% sure

While none of our original 5 starters have missed a start, the problem is we don't have much in the minor leagues if somebody goes down for a long time. Sam Lecure is currently a long reliever and has made some starts in the past, but I don't know if he'd be able to fill in the rest of the year.

That's one thing that has me worried, and a reason I think Chapman could be put into the rotation in an emergency, even though I don't think they want to do it yet.

Oh, and Broxton pitched a perfect inning tonight and Chap with another save

I am far from his biggest fan.

Should the Yankees claim Lee? I'm still upset with him for making us wait to be dumped.

Generally speaking, pitchers as good as Cliff Lee do not get traded as often as he has in his career -- four times. In August, pitchers as good as Lee don't get traded ... ever. Could this year be different?

Lee was placed on waivers by the Philadelphia Phillies this week, which is not a surprise, as teams often put most or all of their roster on waivers during this period. With Lee, however, it could mean something due to his contract.

The Phillies would like to fill some holes on their roster and perhaps shed even more payroll. The idea that they would let a club claim Lee without holding out for a trade is far fetched, but with $87.5 million due the veteran over the next three years -- plus his buyout of a fourth year -- a team that puts in a claim for him could conceivably work out a deal to add Lee to their rotation.

The Yankees were linked to Lee earlier this week, but reports rang out that the club wasn't interested due to salary -- the Yankees have their eye on their luxury tax situation for the next few seasons. The Boston Red Sox are trying to move their own salary in Josh Beckett and unless they do so may not be any kind of a fit for Lee.

The Dodgers could be one legitimate possibility, but the Rangers are eyeing their payroll limitation, too, at least when it comes to a large contract such as Lee's. The chances Lee is moved are slim, but oddly, probably not zero.

It's worth noting that if teams put in a claim for Lee, they risk the Phillies letting the player go which assigns 100 percent of the contract to the claiming team, making that scenario unlikely.

Remember what I said before that whole fiasco before he signed the contract with the Phillies? I said he only had one more good year before he starts to decline. Hes 2-6 this year, though his ERA is decent. He's played in 18 games and given up 15 homers.

I still dont want him.
