Really liking what I'm seeing from the ChiSox. Getting a revitalized Youkilis has proven to be a great move so far...

Can't believe the Yankees are where they are.

Also I saw a ad from a showtime special on the Marlins season coverage. Guess they have a crew following their year.

What....did you expect that fans were going to stay fans for 20 losing years while the owners pockets cash. Hell....half the people there have no idea what it's like to have a winning team.

Personally....I hope the team over excels to the point that ownership really opens their eyes and spend some more cash. And I really give credit to guys like Andrew McCutchen for wanting to play there.

________
Was that supposed to be in red text? He had no heart in NY. Maybe it was NY, but it wasn't the Yankees fault. They gave him way too many chances.

He definitely is a presence in that locker room

We have plenty of ideas what it's like to have a winning team, just not what it's like to have a pro baseball team... Cutch definitely is the heart and soul of the team, management not spending has always been a huge black eye to them, but I think they're starting to pay attention to the Pens and Steelers and see that you have to pay in order to A.) win games B.) sell tickets

I never said the organization was at fault, but the city itself. Look how the media destroyed him. Fans hated him. He was criticized for everything that he did; however some was warranted (i.e. - when he was mouthing something to Girardi as he walked off the mound during a pitcher change last year).

I would have loved to keep him as a #3 pitcher, but his contract was just not favorable. Though, that doesnt matter since the Yanks paid most of it anyway

RA Dickey and Wright not starting has me sort of bitter so, I'll briefly check the boxes tomorrow and then focus on the Mets second half. Hey Larusa: don't show your face in Queens...EVER!!!

RA not starting is his fault. Wright not starting is ours.

Personally it doesn't matter to me. I just hope they continue to play well and that they don't have to play the Cubs again.

with regard to Wright....but not on Dickey. Didn't change my sentiment either way.

....and seeing the Cubs with that record and knowing that they thumped us in two series makes me squeamish! I know there weren't high expectations coming into the season but their relative success has changed that. The pressure is now on.

^^^

Personally I'd be happy with the Mets finishing 3rd and 4 games over. And a contract for Wright.

I don't see why MLB doesn't let people vote in a pitcher or two. Personally I'd rather see no voting since most fans are incompetent but as long as we're voting might as well do pitchers. They are players too.

Fan voting is the dumbest idea in the world. Just gets them clicks on the websites.

And the joke known as the All-Star game once again shows itself to be just that.

Agree, I think the teams should be picked based off of stats as of July 1st.
The position players with the best BA & HR total & the pitchers that have the best 3 records should be in.

Let the players performance decide who gets to play.

Also, trim the bloated rosters down a lot. I don't know how many All-Stars there were this year, but I read in 2011 there were 84

I know that includes injured players, and I understand they don't want some players, especially pitchers, laboring too much...but still. There's an article on SI every year before the game that goes over all of this, and I think he makes a lot of great points.

Man....that roster issue really has you pissed.

You all are getting so bent out of shape about the ASG. It doesn't matter that much to me. IMO I don't care that the fans and players choose. I think that's better than using SOME of the stats. This game is more about the fans than anyone else. The expanded roster just allows them to showcase more players.

Fawking double post.

I just think it cheapens the actual deserving All-Stars. It's like adding mediocre players to the HOF, on a much smaller scale obviously.

But you're right though, in the grand scheme of things it's just an exhibition and a game.

Big sweep over the Cards by the Reds this weekend...might be one of those series that changes the course of the season

Of course the Dbacks are up 4 - 0 in the first inning right now

Civic. Were you watching the same Burnett in NY as I was???? They gave him more chances than freaking Daryl Strawberry got and he continued to suck.

I am happy to have him gone and happy he is doing well elsewhere.

Congrats on the sweep A's I heard this is the first time in Yankee history they lost 4 in a row all by 1 run. At least we are still 6 up. Time to shrug it off and start a winning streak.

Holy shit.....

The New York Yankees have traded for Seattle Mariners outfielder Ichiro Suzuki, reports YES’ Jack Curry.

"The Yankees have acquired Ichiro Suzuki for RHPs DJ Mitchell and Danny Fahrquar, a source said. Yanks also get undisclosed cash in deal."

— Jack Curry (@JackCurryYES) July 23, 2012

The Mariners confirmed the trade on their Twitter account.

"#Mariners acquire RHP D.J. Mitchell & RHP Danny Farquhar from Yankees in exchange for Ichiro Suzuki. More on Mariners.com"

— Seattle Mariners (@Mariners) July 23, 2012

The veteran outfielder will likely play part-time in left field as New York tries to overcome the absence of Brett Gardner, who will miss the rest of the season with an elbow injury. Raul Ibanez and Andrew Jones have played left field in his absence.
http://tracking.si.com/2012/07/23/ichiro-trade-yankees/

I definitely did not expect that one... Im really surprised that the Mariners gave the Yanks money on top of it.
