Meh Things and Ottawa are automatically eliminated as is any team that has a fan in this thread. That should give me about 25 teams to choose from. Although we could use another Rangers fan. We're not getting enough Ranger updates in here.

Being that you are a "senior" moderator, might I suggest Tampa Bay or Florida? That seems to be a mecca for seniors. Plus being a long term Leafs fan, you may have that special type of crazy that Floridians are known for.

Maybe, just maybe believing in the code prevents you from getting grabbed and knocked out. Right or wrong, not believing in the code has ramifications both ways. Orpik violated the code and got knocked out for it, Thornton violated the code and he'll be suspended for it.

The question of the players character is answered by who feels sorry about their infraction. No one in Pitt is willing to say they did anything wrong. I haven't heard a word from Orpik feeling bad about giving Loui a concussion or Dupuis about the 2 hander that broke Kelly's leg.
FYI, Orpik can't remember anything after the National Anthem, but I'm sure he's sorry for his clean legal hit...

Went to the Pens BlueJackets game last night, and every time that the BJ's did something I didn't like, I would stand up and yell "Jump him from behind" yet sadly, none of my dirty Penguins players would listen to me

^^ You're doing it wrong.
You don't announce it before you do the cheap shot.
You just do it.....like a Penguin.

But whatever you do, don't feel the need to back up your actions. By not believing in the code you can make it go away, just like if you don't believe in cancer you can smoke cigarettes with no health risks.

What code says jump someone from behind with no warning? You guys are ridiculous. It would have been 1 thing if Thornton grabbed Orpik, and said we're going, and they fought. Then I can see your code argument, Thornton received a roughing penalty for trying to go after Orpik the first time, he could have gone up to him again and tried to fight him again, and Orps probably would have fought. There is no excuse or explanation for what he did to him instead. I've seen guys forced to fight plenty of times throughout the years, sometimes you just have to drop the gloves. Jumping someone from behind and beating them unconscious follows no code, and is absolutely disgusting and doesn't belong in the game of hockey.

Sorry, bit late in seeing it. Mostly cause I don't care about a bunch of millionaires wanting to maim each other. But holy dirty Batman.

Gotta be West Coast. Since I grew up loving the Mighty Dicks, I may have found my team. Plus Moog needs to be kept up to speed on the goings on in Anaheim.

You are either refusing to see the entire chain of events or not seeing it...

As I said before (so, please don't say I'm full of myself ), let's just say Orpiks' hit on Loui was clean. But, it was a hard hit...when a star player is hit, the enforcer USUALLY will do something in response. That's part of the "code". So, he went to Orpik and asked him to drop the gloves. Orpik refused. Bad idea.

But, fine...whatever. The game continues. We also know Kelly gets his leg chopped off by a wonderful 2-handed swing and then, Marchand gets kneed in the head by Mr. Neal. Okay...you take all that into consideration, you have a Pens team that is not playing within the unspoken rules of engagement in hockey.

No one here or in the press is for one second excusing Thornton's dumb@$$ move of taking out Orpik from behind. But, the fact remains that the unspoken "Code" in hockey was broken. You follow or you still think all of us here are on crack...?

I don't think it's that hard to see what went wrong in the debacle between the Bruins/Pens the other night.

I think you are blinded by years of cheapshot antics by your team, and when they finally got called to the mat on it (by the code)....they ran away to hide, and then got a cheap shot delivered to them for not following the code.

And you are still surprised by this?

No excuse for Thornton.

However, you cannot expect to throw out cheap shot after cheap shot, and not expect to pay the piper for it.

Pens are gonna have to pay eventually for their brand of dirty hockey...and to an extent, they did via Thornton.

...again, no excuse for Thornton's actions.

I heard Penner hand delivers a year of pancakes to every new Sucks fan.

However, so far this year, Penner has yet to make a delivery.

Maybe you can be the first new Sucks fan!!!!

You're tying all those things into Thornton's actions, Kelly wasn't slashed until the second period, the attack on Orpik happened in the first period. I have never defended the Neal knee, I have said that he's an idiot and that I thought he deserved to sit. I do not agree whatsoever that Orpik had it coming to him after laying a clean hit. Did he skate away and choose not to fight? Yes, does that mean what happened to him afterwards was justified (which black label keeps saying it is) hell no. If you or I attack a guy from behind and beat him unconscious, it's assault and battery. Like I said above, Thornton is a 4th line "enforcer" of course he's going to challenge Orpik to a fight, does that mean a top d-man has to throw down according to the code? Maybe, but why couldn't Thornton challenge him to fight again? Jumping him from behind is indefensible and cannot be explained. You guys want to harp on "cheapshot after cheapshot" but the hit that Orpik made was clean. Did it injure someone? Yes, it's unfortunate, that does not mean that he should be sent off on a stretcher because he hit someone playing the puck with their head down. If Thornton was upset about Neal's knee, why didn't he challenge Neal to a fight? He crossed 2 bluelines and jumped Orpik from behind. Thornton's act was not justified and no one will ever make me feel differently. Neal is an idiot, and did a dumb thing. Thornton is just a dirty piece of shit who doesn't belong in the game of hockey.

...and with that, you miss all the other more important points.

...which is what everyone here is trying to say to you.

It's really not too hard to understand.

Take off the myopic rah-rah go Pens goggles for just a moment and see the bigger picture.

...and a little NHLPA food for thought on James Neal's cheap shot knee to the head suspension.

He got a measly 5 games....WHY?

Five games under the CBA is the maximum amount of games a player could be suspended without being able to appeal.

Thank you, NHLPA for this nonsense.

With The Counts Instigator Rule, it's clear players don't pay for their cheap shot actions on the ice.
With the NHLPA's 5 game suspension max for no appeal rule, it's clear players won't pay for their cheap shot actions off the ice either.

Train wreck league.

Habs

Carey Price is the backstop for Team

The East is sooooo soft.

6-0, Price gets punted, Kings have the back-up to the back-up in net, in only his 3rd NHL start. That kid Jones is quite the back-stop

......but alas, the Kings will lose tonight to the Cup champion Leafs.....even without Mr. Sloppy Seconds.

For all you clownz who thought Shanananban was going to be the savior of the league and fix all the cheap-shots and goon stuff.......here is some food for thought:

Last season Shannanaananban gave out 24 suspensions over the 48 game season.

This season so far....just 30 games in, Shanananananban has given out 22 suspensions already! (when you factor in Thornton's)

Nice job Shanananban! Your formula for handing out discipline is clearly working!

Matt Frattin is so bad that it appears that Sutter won't even put him in the line-up against his old team.

What a waste.

And why is Scrivens also riding the pine? Not very nice of Darryl IMO.

BTW - Moogelino, Doughty came over to visit the basement earlier today. I thought about keeping him, but I'm a Ducks fan now so I let him out.

And isn't it interesting how good LA's goaltending has been with Quick out. One could make the argument (Yummy ) that its not the goalie but the system that makes LA so successful.

Moogelino only has to pay $100 bucks per ticket in the 10th row?

Sheesh, poor domcha has to sell his left nut to be in the 10th row at the ACC.
