To commemorate the first game of the Kings V Nucks this season:

...ummm...who's that guy on the left? I think it's Jeff Carter

No, see. The Leafs goal tending is beyond terrible, more terrible than their defensive play. They won't be going to the playoff's much less the cup finals.

Interesting.

GOALIES LIKE BEING HITCHED TO HITCH

The best job in the NHL? Playing goal for teams coached by Ken Hitchcock. Already, Jaroslav Halak has two shutouts. In the two wins, he faced just 27 shots in total, 13 in one game, 14 in the other. Last year, Halak and Brian Elliott combined for an NHL-high 15 shutouts in St. Louis. But this is nothing new. Steve Mason had 10 shutouts playing for Hitch in Columbus and really hasn’t been heard from since. Pascal Leclaire had nine shutouts in Hitchcock’s first full season with the Jackets and one other shutout in his entire very average career. In Philadelphia, Roman Cechmanek had six shutouts and a 1.83 goals against average. This is no accident. This is the way Hitchcock’s teams commit to defensive play. In his last three full NHL seasons, Hitchcock’s teams have had 37 shutouts, and 22 of those came from forever troubled Columbus.
This actually supports Yummy point that its the system that matters, not the goalie. But then I remember how many Cups Hitchcock won in Columbus, Philly and St.Louis. And the Cup he did win in Dallas with Eddie the Eagle.

Is there chatter that Phil the Thrill should be traded from Toronto...? After all Burke has given up for the guy...? Really?

Oh sure, just run away from the argument. I haven't been around much lately, need to get my blood flowing and open old wounds.

Phil the thrill can be waived for all I care. He's a role player on a good team at best. He's a not a difference maker. Especially not with the center they have him playing with.

To get an idea of how bad that trade was, just ask yourself what Kessel would bring back in a trade today. It certainly wouldn't be Tyler Seguin and Dougie Hamilton.

You're not getting Dougie away from us but if you want we could teach you how to Dougie.

I don't need a double-team pile-on from you and Waldorf (with 97Ack duckhunt-snickering and fluffying in the background) cuz your teams are struggling and picking on me is your outlet to feel better.

If you were a great GM, you would trade Crosby, Toews, and Brad Doty straight-up for Kessel.

The Kings will get 4 first round picks for it at least because Pancakes is a TWO-TIME Cup winner.

Phil the Thrill was not...so, hence why he was had for so cheap.

I'm sure you'll end up with a 1st and 2nd and Jake Gardiner.

If that doesn't go to Vancouver first for Luongo.

So I went to my first Stars game of the season this weekend.
1) I finally got to see my all time favorite player (Jagr) play, but he was scratched due to an injury
2) Literally 3 seconds after I get up to get a beer, the Stars score their first goal of the game and I miss it.
3) Of the 100 concession stands that serve beer, I picked the only one that was actually out of beer.

And the Stars lost, but it still was an entertaining game.

Being a Stars fan, I would've thought your fave player of all-time (all-time!) would be Modano?

Never cared much for Modano. I guess my Czech blood and fan of exciting hockey led me to loving Jagr/Penguins hockey. Both were my favorite teams. Now Stars fav, Penguins 2nd fave.

Yea so, who won the cup that year?

If anyone is to blame, it is the officials for missing it...

No one won the cup that year. Dallas stole it, Brett Hull admitted to being a cheater, the world kept on turning.

But if you want to blame anyone, it's the knuckleheads in Toronto, the officials on the ice were just puppets having their strings pulled.

You still have time to book a flight to Hockeytown, catch Tuesday night at The Joe and enjoy a game in the company of some real hockey fans.

I'll even give you a good deal on my tickets.

Amazing job he's done in St. Louie.

Still waiting for Renney to work his magic on our power(less) play.

Not as amazing as Hoysov even if one won the Norris last season and the other guy is going to be a potential Calder candidate.

Well, it's still early...sorta...but, I was tuning into the game and was shocked at the 4-0 score at the end of the 2nd.
