No. 1 New York Rangers vs. No. 7 Washington Capitals
Records: New York 51-24-7 - 109, Washington 42-32-8 - 92.
Season series: Rangers 3-1.
Power play: New York 15.7 percent (23rd). Washington 16.7 percent (18th). Postseason power play: New York 5-32 (15.6 percent). Washington 3-19 (15.8 percent).
Penalty killing: New York 86.2 percent (fifth). Washington 81.6 percent (21st). Postseason penalty killing: New York 22-26 (84.6 percent). Washington 21-23 (91.3 percent).
Leading scorers: New York - Marian Gaborik 41-35 - 76. Washington - Alexander Ovechkin 38-27 - 65. Leading postseason scorers: New York - Brad Richards 2-3 - 5. Washington - Ovechkin 2-3 - 5.
New York outlook: Both teams are coming off seven-game series, so they should be on equally fatigued footing. In defeating Ottawa, Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist (1.70 goals-against average, .945 save percentage) sustained the excellence that made him a Vezina finalist. The Rangers' defense has been exceptional all season.
Washington outlook: The Capitals might get an emotional lift from eliminating the defending champion Boston Bruins, winning Game 7 on the road. Rookie goalie Braden Holtby showed poise thrust into a starting role, Ovechkin has awakened, and defenseman Mike Green has rediscovered his game. The Capitals seem to be gaining strength under Coach Dale Hunter.
Prediction: The Rangers are deeper and should win in six.
http://www.sacbee.com/2012/04/27/444...ers-vs-no.html
Records: Philadelphia 47-26-9 - 103. New Jersey 48-28-6 - 102.
Season series: Flyers 3-2-1.
Power play: Philadelphia 19.7 percent (sixth). New Jersey 17.2 percent (14th). Postseason power play: Philadelphia 12-23 (52.2 percent). New Jersey: 5-25 (20 percent).
Penalty killing: Philadelphia 81.8 percent (17th). New Jersey 89.6 percent (first). Postseason penalty killing: Philadelphia 20-29 (69 percent). New Jersey: 18-27 (66.6 percent).
Scoring leaders: Philadelphia: Claude Giroux 28-65 - 93. New Jersey: Ilya Kovalchuk 37-46 - 83. Postseason scoring leaders: Philadelphia: Giroux 6-8 - 14. New Jersey: Travis Zajac 3-3 - 6.
Philadelphia outlook: The Flyers shredded the Penguins' third-ranked penalty killing unit in the first round, scoring nearly at will. Giroux and Danny Briere (five goals, eight points) led the scoring parade. Having a few days' rest should help the Flyers' banged-up defense.
New Jersey outlook: The Devils needed double overtime in of their seventh game against Florida to win their first playoff series since 2007. This could be the last long run for future Hall of Fame goaltender Martin Brodeur, who will be 40 next week.
Prediction: The Flyers will score a lot, but goalie Ilya Bryzgalov is as likely to give up six as he is to record a shutout. The Flyers have too many scorers to shut down. Flyers in six.

What happened to Bobrovsky? Wasn't he the starter earlier in the season? Seems like he and Bryzgalov are trying to out stink each other.

I live in STL but am not a Blues fan. Pretty good game tonight by the Kings.
I said at the beginning of the year that I thought the Flyers would win the cup, but after Bryz's sketchy ass playing in the Pens series....I dunno now. lol

I think it is more Nashville not playing great.
The sizzle in the Steak
I gotta say...watching the Kings V Blues.....it was an "easy" watch.
I never felt that the game could be taken over by the Blues like it can/could have been by the Nucks.
The Blues Power Play is horrible.....almost as bad as the Kings
Pancakes = Blues Killer
Bottom Line: Kings did not play their best game by a long shot...and still won decisively.....Quick is amazing....he saved the game many times. Blues gotta be scratching their heads.

Well, if the current trends continue, I could not have been more mistaken about how these 2 series in the West have played out.
The sizzle in the Steak
Look at how many shorthanded goals the Kings have scored in both series so far.
It's tough for the opposition power play to get set up and get shots on goal.
When they do get a few shots on goal, Quick is there like a wall.
...no disrespect to the Blues...they are good, but the Kings are better.
...just like the Nucks, the Blues can't figure out how to solve the Kings.
