Yea they have a responsibility, but what, they're suppose to have the skates on 24/7. No matter how important something is, downtime is needed.

And again, who says they are partying?? Where's they news stories about it?

Looking at what time it is, I would say you're at work, but, you're on the internet fucking off. I am wrong? Don't you owe it to the one's paying your check to give them all of your time when you should be working.

Again it's their downtime, if out getting totally shitfaced, then a problem.

I am my boss and an insomniac. I finished everything I needed to do at 4am (that could be done until the rest of the world got up) and am now waiting for them.

I get your point but professional athletes trade getting millions, adulation and the promise of becoming champions for a social life again IMHO.

*EDIT*

Seeing as you assumed I am "stealing" from my employer, I'll lob that volley back atcha. What about you?

Being out at 4 am IS a big deal when the team has you on a curfew, being out at 4 am and drinking like a fish is a big deal, because it's the freaking playoffs

IMHO.
bolded part is wrong. This isn't 1991 where mario can eat cheese fries in the off-season. the off-season/summer is for training, nowadays. professional athletes don't take breaks, at least the ones that want to succeed.

“If you’re not healthy the most important thing when the season is over (is to get ready for next season). Players can’t afford to be healing in the summer,” he said. “You’ve got to be getting stronger and preparing for the next year. The summers are not for relaxation to the point that you don’t work.” ~ Gary "MF-ing" Roberts

Apparently it is a big deal because they have been suspended by their team for a playoff game they desperately need to win. The other issue is that they don't have a normal 9-5 job, they are under contract and have to follow team rules. If the team rule is be in the hotel before curfew then they broke a team rule. On top of that and they get paid 6 or 7 figure salaries, even more reason to follow the rules laid out by your bosses.

Apparently I was unclear. I'll try again.

During the playoffs IMHO players need to be 100% focused on things that will help the team.

After the season ends if they are so inclined I could care less what they do.

Obviously they ought to keep up their regimen in the event they want to be successful next year but that is what preseason is for seeing who deserves to be on the team.

*EDIT*

Opinions can't be wrong, they can only be stupid.

domcha, just got the official letter for the winter classic, its only 35 gizzle for a suite.

Let me know if you and whiskers want to ante up. Would be nice to go, but the chance of me sliding that thru my expense report is slim to none. If I was confident that your club was going to be competitive, would take it down and flip it for a nice profit, but its hard to get anyone amped up about an event that's eight months away.

I learned from NHL 36 that James Neal should shower more often and wash his hair. Once a week?!?!?

It certainly was. I was and am totally drained. Can't imagine how the teams feel.

I never cease to be amazed at the things announcers say. Doc said nearing the end something like, surprisingly people are not leaving to go home and watch on tv.

Who would leave a game like that?

Game ended at around 12:15 here on the east coast - but all that adrenaline and heart pumping I couldn't really fall asleep until 1:30-2:00 am.

Paying for it now (thankful for the extra large Dunkin Doughnuts coffee)

Yup. Boyle was certainly kicking himself for that block. Hopefully Torts was not too mad, he does have a strict shot blocking policy!

Was a nice game, but I remember games played later years ago.

This is what happens when you go to 3OT and the dogs get pissed that you lost by one goal.

This is what Karl Alzner came home to...

Don't be tight! Get the suite and you can get all the AZ Hockey Talk peeps in there. Nothing like a day of hearing Moog and Yumchah going back and forth about name brand goaltending. Although I'll never make it since the Odyssey would break down on the drive.
