Say, what do you boys think of the general collective thoughts by the players that the instigator does NOT need to be brought back...?

Anyone see that Guardian villian skit?

The whole time I was thinking it would have been so much better with Bettman as the villian.

I disagree.....but hey, as a player, if you know you can get away with a cheap shot hit and not have to pay for it.....why not?

Instigator rule is

^ Yeah, I know you are a big proponent of it. Just thought it was surprising how many players voted against bringing it back. You'd think it would be the opposite.

How did you come up with that?

....just because you pull a cheap shot hit once in a blue moon does not mean you are a dirty player...IMHO.

Plenty of players pull off a cheap shot hit in frustration now and then....but I don't consider them dirty. There is a big difference between that, and the frequent offenders in the league.

I think he's referring to this and more specifically http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/alls...-be-abolished/ That 66% of players do Not want to get rid of the instigator rule.

By far, THE best hockey players I've ever played with were originally figure skaters. They learn better skating mechanics via figure skating.

So you think the 66% of players in that poll are dirty players too?

I was just noting what I thought Yummy was referring to. I have no idea what either of you are trying to say nor know what either point is.

What is Yummy talking about? He said that 66% say the rule does Not need brought back, then you said you disagree..

But the question is whether they should get rid of it and 66% say no. Not, not brought back. I'm confused..

Brought back? That's where I got lost.. Help me understand what he's saying....

I read the question as 66% do NOT want the rule back. I always thought players wanted it back so that well, head shots and etc. would be decreased and there would be more "self-policing" and etc.

Anyhow, unless I totally misread the result, that was what I meant.

Well since they all want to play in Hockeytown, suppose we can settle for the "second best" coach only to our homegrown MI product Dan B.

I can't believe I'm explaining this to a

The instigator rule didn't go anywhere it's still here. The instigator rule does not give you permission to instigate a fight after a cheap shot. Quite the opposite actually, the instigator rule actually forbids you from starting a fight after a cheap shot.

To explain it another way, the existence of the instigator rule prevents self policing.

You read the question wrong, the question was whether the instigator rule should be eliminated, 66% said no, it should not be eliminated.

Urgh...writing am the suck today for me.

And right...hence back to my original comment on why I'm surprised it was 66% who did not want to see the rule gone.

....and hence my response: Why is it surprising that the players do NOT want the rule eliminated?

Cheapshots with no retaliation FTW!.....if you are a player that is.

For a fan, it's a horrible, horrible rule.
