I wish that was true, but let's face reality decent tickets are $100+. Luckily I occasionally stumble into our company tickets that are $200 each

Heard a clip from the HBO show this morning of Boudreau going apeshit. Only thing I wonder is how often he does that. Because if its often, he'll be out of work in the not too distant future.

^ Yep, screamers only are effective for so long and then the players tune out.

How do you take a coach seriously when he's in a skin tight all red oufit/shirt with his hands down his pants and a huge gut sticking out lookin like Santa Claus? or when he's yelling/talking to you with BBQ sauce all over his face?
It is pretty amusing though!!

Napkin before interview, just sayin
The owner and McPhee have no problems with this, if you think it doesn't happen elsewhere... Guess you didn't hear Bylsma dropping the f'bomb?

Apparently Ron Wilson doesn't yell at players or go off the handle. And just look how well it works for him.
Senior Moderator
So your saying he does? When discussing this Boudreau situation this morning they were saying he doesn't. No idea.
I think its needed every so often Especially with a team as talented as Washington and on a 7 game slide. But he really has to pick his spots.

I've seen him go off during a game sitting four rows away from the bench.
Gabby, did it right after the game and then left, he didn't keep doing it.

@ Neon Dion...
Former Flames coach Mike Keenan won't get into specifics, but he confirms there were issues in Calgary's dressing room involving Dion Phaneuf.
Veteran players referred to Phaneuf as "Neon Dion" and found him, at times, overly confident, if not cocky, on and off the ice.
There were arguments, and some wanted Keenan to tighten the reigns and discipline Phaneuf, but the former coach enjoyed Phaneuf's sometimes, combative nature and verbal approach and was willing to live with his mistakes as he developed.
Keenan compliments the 25 year old defenceman for always showing drive and arriving at the rink everyday, fired up, and ready to play.
At times there was friction in Calgary's dressing room, and perhaps a sense of jealousy over the 6 year, $39 million dollar extension Phaneuf signed with the Flames in 2008.
However, Keenan says he very much enjoyed coaching Phaneuf and says he would have him on any team he's associated with in the future; adding former NHL stars such as Jeremy Roenick, Chris Chelios, or Ed Belfour, all had their issues, but all were thoroughbreds Keenan found very coachable.
Why Dion Phaneuf fell out of favor with Flames general manager Darryl Sutter isn't clear, aside from the cap relief Sutter received in trading Phaneuf to Toronto.
Phaneuf's fate in Calgary may have been determined in June, 2009 when the Flames signed Jay Bouwmeester to a 5 year deal, committing $27 million of Calgary's cap space to its blue line.
Perhaps, the lethal combination of friction and finances determined "Neon Dion's" future from that point.

chips and smokes, lets go
Anyone else notice how easily penalty shots are being called lately? In the past the player would have to be all alone and hauled down from behind, and even then they would sometimes just give a 2 minute minor. I've seen more than a few penalty shots this year that I didn't think were deserving.

That...
Another weird one I've noticed lately is the refs calling misconducts on certain players even if they did NOTHING. So what if two pugilists are on the ice? They did not yack at each other...nothing...but, into the sin bin.
That's like giving a person a speeding ticket because you THINK they are going to speed. Lame.

I was watching a game about three weeks ago that talked about this. I want to say it was a west coast game that was on Vs.
24.8 Infractions – Refer to the Reference Tables – Table 13 – Summary of Penalty Shots for a list of the infractions that shall result in a penalty shot being awarded (see specific rule numbers for complete descriptions).
There are four (4) specific conditions that must be met in order for the Referee to award a penalty shot for a player being fouled from behind. They are:
(i) The infraction must have taken place in the neutral zone or attacking zone, (i.e. over the puck carrier’s own blue line);
(ii) The infraction must have been committed from behind;
(iii) The player in possession and control (or, in the judgment of the Referee, clearly would have obtained possession and control of the puck) must have been denied a reasonable chance to score (the fact that he got a shot off does not automatically eliminate this play from the penalty shot consideration criteria. If the foul was from behind and he was denied a “more” reasonable scoring opportunity due to the foul, then the penalty shot should be awarded);
(iv) The player in possession and control (or, in the judgment of the Referee, clearly would have obtained possession and control of the puck) must have had no opposing player between himself and the goalkeeper.

^I guess it's within the rules, but I think the officials used to be much more lenient. I remember penalty shots only being awarded on a play where it would be a sure goal.

^^^ They did play a good game-it was Chris Chelios night. I've got Cup aspirations too, but I looked at the standings and the Blackhawks are at the bottom of their division right now...I was surprised.
Going to the Winter Classic
If you’re heading up to Pittsburgh for the Winter Classic, you may want to take your skates.
Besides the game on New Year’s Day, there will be some opportunities for fans to lace ‘em up in advance of the big day.
There will be public skating on a rink in a parking lot adjacent to Heinz Field each day from Dec. 24 to Jan. 1.
The rink will be built in the "Stage AE" parking lot and will open for public skating from 3-9 p.m. on Christmas Eve -- including a “Skate With Santa” that day from 4-6 p.m.
The cost for public skating is $7 per session, and skate rental is $3.
Crews will start building the rink after Sunday’s Steelers game.
The Capitals won’t be the only D.C. team playing in Pittsburgh. The Washington Junior Capitals will compete in an international bantam tourney during the week. They’ll face some good competition, too. Not only will they take on a Pittsburgh team, but they’ll face off against a team from Sidney Crosby’s hometown of Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia, and one from Evgeni Malkin’s hometown of Magnitogorsk in Russia.
Here’s the public skating schedule so you can plan accordingly:
