Apparently, after winning the cup you get a second reward of having a million injuries the following year. Two games ago we were up to 8 players out. Get 2 back and then 2 more get injured so back to 8. This is nuts.

This franchise must realize that the system is what it is all about...goalies are alot like QBs...the obvious minimum is an NHL-caliber player in net...no sh*t...but, after that...it has to be the system via backchecking, play of the blueliners...
If they think having 2 of the best offensive players on the planet solves everything...they are on glue.

I would venture to say the system is a larger part of it outside the top 3-5 goalies in the league. Just look at Colorado. Not saying the Avs have had scrubs in net but we are going on the third year in a row with a different starting goalie each year and making it work.

Yep, all too familiar with that curse. Sadly I think it's the toll it takes on these guys after playing that deep into the summer and not letting their bodies recover

Got to the SCF 3 years after Sid's first year (2005), won the 4th year. Malkin was a year after Sid, so 2 and 3 after his rookie year (2006) respectively

K...similar trajectory like the Hawks when Toews/Kane arrived. Your team had Letang to anchor and that blueline was deep AF.
Hawks obviously had Keith and Seabrook as their anchors. Looking at Edmonton's blueline, I think their 'best' in Nurse is at most, a 3rd pairing on the Hawks/Pens rosters during their Cup runs.
