With Toews and Byram...and that depth in front...I think your squad will be just fine.

Oh.

Well, if it makes you feel better, that blueline is still better than what the Oilers have.....

Provorov hiding behind religion is an act of cowardice. Flyers should've sat him out yesterday.

Well, we managed to pull out a win last night to my surprise. Having Nuke in the lineup changes the entire dynamic of the team on how much the forwards help pickup the defensive load.

When the other team helps it's easier to win. 2 out of three of their goals were on Ranger blunders.

Enjoy it while it lasts, Yankees were on a similar tear the first 2/3 of last season & died.

It's a bittersweet thing...on one end, the Golden Jet was one of the greatest ever...but, off the ice, he was an abuser, wife-beater, and anti-Semite...I mean, yikes.

It is close but to me, it is on the legal side. I would need to see a slow motion to determine otherwise. He makes impact just before he leaves his feet.

Trouba has a lot more blatant leaving his feet hits than that one. That said if the league wants to take player safety the way the NFL has taken QB safety seriously at this point then even those hits need to be gone. He is pushing off in a upward motion even if he doesn't get off his feet before impact.

Again I am torn as I loved this is hockey of the 90s. It was not near as fast then either so the impact was definitely a little less. Hell, I used to try and lay these hits myself when I played.

The Pens/Avs game Tuesday was super exciting back and forth hockey. The Avs controlled the game probably 2/3 1/3 but when it mattered at the end we fell apart.

That said f&ck Jeff Carter and his shoulder. Cale Makar is now out with a concussion.

I didn't like the hit, I was surprised the league didn't address it. Carter is by no means a dirty player and he played for my hated Flyers for many years and I never considered him dirty, but I have no tolerance for blind side hits. This is something Tom Wilson would do, and very much reminds me of the hit David Steckel put on Crosby back in 12 that really pissed me off and almost ended Crosby's career. Definitely hope Cale is ok, he's a hell of a D-Man and I have mad respect for him.

Rangers bring back Tyler Motte, send Julien Gauthier, pick to Senators: Why the teams made the deal

The Rangers acquired forward Tyler Motte in a trade with the Senators in exchange for forward Julien Gauthier and a conditional 2023 seventh-round draft pick, the teams announced Sunday. Here’s what you need to know:
  • The condition of the pick is that if the Rangers advance to the second round of the 2023 playoffs, the pick will improve to the lower of the Rangers’ or the Jets’ 2023 sixth-round selection.
  • Motte, 27, was traded to New York from the Canucks last season and played in nine regular-season games and 15 in the playoffs. He had three goals and six assists in 38 games for Ottawa this season.
  • Gauthier, 25, had six goals and three assists in 40 games for New York, where he’s been since 2019. Gauthier was the No. 21 pick in the 2016 NHL Draft.

Backstory

In his stint with the Rangers last season, Motte scored two goals during the team’s second-round series win over the Hurricanes.

Why did New York want Motte back?

Motte was a solid addition at last year’s trade deadline from the Canucks; even though he missed the end of the regular season and the first five games of the playoffs, the Rangers liked the energy and skill he brought to their fourth line. They needed those upgrades again this season and the cost was minimal, so why not a reunion? And they hope Motte, who missed a long stretch recently with a broken finger, has already had his major injury for the year. — Staple

What Gauthier brings to Ottawa

This feels like a straight swap where Ottawa gets a player under team control for next season in exchange for a pending unrestricted free agent in Motte. Gauthier, who is making $800,000 this season, is an RFA this summer, so conceivably this could be a trial run for him to audition for a fourth-line role next season.

Kane maybe. Toews, no -- the Captain is out until March now with long COVID effectively ending his availability in any trade. Hawks even announced it.

The thing with Kane is he has alot of trade value but the team getting him has to be able to afford his cap hit and also, he has to move his no-trade for it. The logical spot of going to cabby's Rangers faded when they got Tarasenko. Going with the returns I've seen there and then for O'RLY, I think the return for Kane would be significant as he's still a very good player (scored another hat trick today). But, the thing is, will be willing to go to that team. One thing talked about the press here in Canada is possibly Edmonton (which makes zero sense as they don't need more firepower, dummies) but I doubt Kane wants to go there and also, per Moog's famous words, the Oil are in total cap hell.
