I wish the game would give you better info on what class the cars you have to compete against are in, so you can pick an appropriate car. This was easier in the earlier GT's because they told you how much hp a certain class is, and you would then pick a car that had that hp. In this game, it says hp sometimes, but when it says "All Cars" or "All Classes"... you don't know. You can go into Preview and see the cars.. that is the best thing you can do - but you don't get any numbers.

Not a terrible thing, just something to think about... I would like to have competitive races, but then there's the race you enter with a car that has similar hp, except there is one AI car that smokes everyone else...

ok.. this is bunk. I just previewed Clubman Cup in Pro Events, checked the lineup, thought ok, I'll take my 320hp S2000 out there, should be a good battle... first race starts... 79 A-spec pts.. I'm like wtf. First car is an Elise 111R... yeah that car just took off, no way in hell I could catch up to it. sux.

what's the highest A-spec pts anybody has won in a single race? mine has been 32. In the 50+ A-spec pt races I've seen, I always get smoked.

I am still far from day 694. But I have saved 6 million credits already. I did the German Touring Championship trick twice for quick cash.

One more thing about the black beauties, the pic you guys saw there came from the Japanese version, they have 2 more digis for their currency.

check this thread for a detailed description of A-spec pts...

http://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=56502

specifically:

The primary determining factor in A-spec points calculation for a given field of AI cars is the player's vehicle mass, followed by a power-to-weight ratio curve.
HOWEVER....

the more B-SPEC points you have, the quicker your B-spec driver is. Or, the more he races, the better he is at it.
so final analysis:

A-spec pts = useless

B-spec pts = useful

holy cow yeah Trial Mountain blew me away... and Seattle yes. The updates are even in the detail and textures of the road, I mean damn. They went all out on this game.

and what about Laguna.... ... updated graphics AND track model - I read that the designers WENT BACK OUT to Laguna Seca to remodel it, and its now much closer to how the track is in real life - you can't cheat the line at the corkscrew and barrel through it anymore... not that I've ever done that in the past...

In all NTSC-J versions, you just need to win the Grand Valley 300km race. But there are numerous of reports out there saying they CHANGED it for the western releases. I guess SCEA hates Sauber C9?

some of those are tough.

I raced the NA sports race with a stock CSL, that that was over 30 points for each one. It was a pain, but certianly doable.

I fcukin hate that Lotus. I ran that clubman cup or whatever with the Nismo400R car.... garbage! It had more power, and I managed to get absolutely smoked on the straights by it.

go figure... I just raced the NA Sports race with a stock M3 GTR @ Infineon, 1st race. It was against M3 CSL, TVR Cerbera Speed Six, TVR Tamora, TVR 350C, and a Camaro SS... the race is for 101 A-spec pts. so I'm , thinking maybe the CSL will kick my ass. I finished 8 seconds ahead of 2nd???

Am I bragging?

im gonna do the euro championship after i win the last professional event. More screenshots to come. The best value in this game might be the 500HP VW. it is only 30~k at tuner town. and the ownage car for me so far in the tommy kaira ZZII. Mid engine 4WD and it weighs like 10lbs.

I haven't try ZZII out yet, but I remember it had too much understeer in GT3. Did they get it right in GT4?

The M3 specials are awesome cars. You can buy one, leave it bone stock, and go kick some ass.

Being the Bimmerphile that I am, I started the game with the CSL.

I also play over at another friends house to.. "help out." My addiction is getting severe.

well, apparently no, from within each race at least... however if you go to Home, DIARY, it lists all the best lap times you've ever run, ever. Over time, it may be hard to weed through that entire listing though, lol.

This Diary listing is pretty sweet, documents everything you've ever done in GT4 Sim mode...

I have won a few races getting 45-50 A-spec points, and one for 115 A-spec points, most are 1-8.
