apparently it happens on any tv, HD or not.... reading through for solutions.... apparently you set the graphics mode to "interlaced", and it doesn't happen anymore... but I dunno if that will work on a non-HD tv....

6th place here), he got it around masterfully, putting a 9.9 sec margin on the 2nd place E55. He only asks for my input regarding gear ratios and aerodynamics.Stay tuned for the garage pics.
ok I've weeded through that thread and here are the things you can do to help the "jitter" issue (if you are experiencing it) - basically the PS2 is being asked to do a little more than it can handle:
The "interlaced" video mode setting is something you choose on your TV itself, not the game. You may or may not have this option though, depending on your TV and what GT4 mode you are using.
So I am going to remove all the songs I don't like from the list (which is the majority of them) - I don't have any music playing during the races but I do have them playing during replays. And then I am going to set brightness to 0. Hopefully these things will help reduce the memory load on the PS2, which seems to be causing this issue...

Guys and girls, please listen! Some one on these boards posted a helpful hint for the "jitters". I wish I could remember who so they could get the proper credit. Here it is: Go to the options menu and adjust the brightness. Bring it down a few notches. Mine was on 3 and I moved it to 0. It has drastically cut down the jittering. In fact I haven't seen any since, and I used to get the shaking quite a bit. Try it!
Whoever is responsible for this solution, THANK YOU! GT4 is now 99% perfect! The intro music still stinks.

Another thing to try:
I tried turning the brightness down also, but was still getting jitters, may have helped a little, but not much.
I noticed that the jitters happen at the start of the race, what else is happening then? The music track is being selected. I have all BG music set at 0, but it still tells me what track is playing in the corner at the start of the race, so it's still playing the song, just with a volume of 0.
What I did to stop this:
Go into the jukebox section in GT mode and delete all songs from the race playlist. I have been 100% jitter free since I did this (although I haven't raced SSR5 since, and that seemed to be the worst offender). Hope that helps some.

wow, it looks like i'm way behind.
i transfered the credits and i bought a euro r (cl7) and then i bought an s2000. i raced the sunday and did the ff (i was getting about 120 a-spec points per race (car was stock) and it was kinda hard) and i bought a used '99 skyline gt-r midnight purple II. the only mods were to the tsx with turbo, tires, exhaust, chip (300whp) and rims on the skyline (the bbs re's). the rest of the garage is all old crappy car, oh and a cadillac cien that i won the MR cup too easily with
this game is too adivctive.

I hadn't been following the thread but I did go out and pick it up yesterday. So I check it out and noticed 480p and 1080i resolution support. Off I go today to pick up the component cables for PS2 to hook up to my Mitsubishi HD1080 screen. I get home, hook it up, select 1080i in GT4 and nothing. It doesn't display right!!!
There are three component input jacks on my system, two for 480i/480p and then one for DTV (480i/480p/1080i) but the darn thing is not working. I guess I need to
for the TV and see if there is something I missed. What is killing me is that when I switch to 480p mode it displays but the TV says it is just 480i still. I watch DVDs in 480p all of the time so I know it works.
I see on the DTV input it also has H and V inputs so I wonder if there is a limitation with my TV. Nevertheless, I would have thought 480p would work. GT4 shows 480p but the TV does not agree.
Anyone have any input on the matter??

bad news for Logitech MOMO Force users... (the red housing with leather-wrapped wheel, steel construction):
http://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=54880
I haven't actually tried the wheel yet - been too lazy to set it all up - the controller has been doing ok for me so far - I just kinda assumed it would work since it worked with GT3... then I just now stumbled upon this thread...
I will have to try it for myself to confirm, but I dunno... I might have to get another steering wheel...

Alright.........if anyone could help me I'd most appreciate it. I can't seem to get any further in the game, I don't know if I made poor car selections or what, but I seem to get owned, severly , in anything I try. Can someone give me a few tips to get money, fairly quickly. I'll do what it takes to get the car required, and the money to modify it to the level it need be, but I can't seem to figure out a successful strategy on my own

I know what you mean though, the game is so damn deep that sometimes you don't know what to do next and you feel kinda stuck. I guess that is a part of the whole challenge...

and also, what I've been doing is, not sweating the golds on the license tests, for now. imo when it gets to the point that the game becomes annoying and frustrating to play because it's taking too long to get a gold for instance, its time to do something else. This game is not supposed to frustrate you - you should be happy playing it. Be happy with a bronze or silver for now - instead shoot to progress in the rest of the game. You can go back and try for golds later...

happy GT4-playing,

Get an used Civic Type-R in the used car lot, give it a mod chip and an oil change. Play the Civic challenge in the Honda dealer, you should be able to win all 5 races pretty easily without any engine mods(other than the chip of course.) And then sell your prize car(87' Civic race car for $90k.), now you can buy a very decent car with the money you got.
If you don't feel you have enough money, you can always re-run the series again to win the prize car.
Why not special condition hall some of you may ask, because you can do all things I just said above in $15k.
