anyone know how NOT to start 6th in a race?

 

I've seen this before... however judging from the posts, it seems quite tedious to setup and I can't say I have a real interest in trying it.

Hell, I don't even have a PS2 network adapter.

 

good question. I don't think there is a way to qualify for a higher spot. kinda dumb if you really think about it.

BTW: right now i'm barely starting out so i got a Used and Abused R32 (400 to 500 HP )... don't like the newer R34's kinda :ghey: looking... but i guess i'll have to get it sooner or later... Next to buy is the Accord Euro... has that TSX/TL look to it...

You are wrong. You can qualify in any championship series. (And you have to, all I-A and S licence-required races are so damn hard, even with group C cars.)

Question: are there rally cars and tracks? I walked into the room two days ago right at the tail end of a GT4 commercial. I could have sworn they showed a white rally car flying around a dirt corner. I'm just curious because I haven't heard anyone mention anything except pavement yet.

Over on the PC side of the house I've been driving Richard Burns Rally for the past month and having an absolute blast! Hopefully you guys can get a chance to do it in the dirt too!

 

There are 7 rally tracks(plus one wet track) and more than a few rally cars in the game. Most of them are Ford, Mitsubishi and Subaru.

is there any way to skip the whole intro movie thing before the actual start of the race? no way to just count down 3-2-1 then start? that shit gets me too worked up

 

dont think you can skip it. But let me say it is way too easy to rake up dough in this game. just b spec a championship. MEGA DOUGH!!!

hm..... i started off with a R34 the 63,000 cr one and then modded it using up the rest of my money.. man big mistake.. after dominateing the sunday cup and 4wd cup i bought a 99 ITR and had little money for mods.. i couldnt win the FF races (not enough HP) so i said screw this and started over...

started of with a 96 240sx hatchback and some slight mods to it.. won the sunday cup and then bought a 03 ITR (DC5) won the FF race and then tried the FR race... man that was soo hard with teh 240sx.. had to get like silver or 4th place whatever and used that money to boost up the HP of the car.. freaking tough after that i bought an MR2 GT-S and entered the MR race.. man i had to go up against a freaking NSX-R 02' geez.. anyways man i cant stop playing.. so fun

 

You think that's bad- on my way into work this morning I was coming up a hill to 90 degree right hand turn following a really old lady going really slow- since there was no room to pass on the hill, I briefly considered speeding up, and bouncing of her to get through the corner ahead because there was a nice sweeping left hander about 500 feet ahead that I wanted to slide through...

 

 

This is where I got my fabolous driving skills from.

 

Finally had a day when I didn't have to work at night, so I go to really focus on my GT Mode... Oh, and I decided to start all over...

And that's how I ended up playing for 9 hours straight, without sleep, and now I am at work. Sheesh, it's like impossible to put it down once you start the career...

So, as far as my foggy mind remembers, this is what I've done so far...

-Got my a,b, and iB licenses (too eager to play to finish the iA test)
-bought a CRX and got through Sunday mode
-Then went through a bit of the mission stuff, got to number 9
-With the new found money, stuffed my CRX with goodies
-went to japanese stadium, won compact series/championship
-with that money, I decided to get a nice Skyline GTR
-with that, I took down AWD series
-with that money, tricked out GTR
-Took the GTR to the Japanese Open (whatever the first series on the list is) and won that
-which (I think that was it, maybe I'm missing a cup win) gave me a 400 Nismo Skyline.
-which I tricked out with money and just finished my first Japanese GT race (second place... dang)

... and with all that, I thought I accomplished alot in the game, but it only racked up to 5%... 5%!!!

After GT races, I'm taking the 400 to the Skyline races at Nissan...

omg.. what a blur the past couple of days have been.

got all the way through super lisence.

got a skyline, schooled a lot of beginner cup. everything in there is done except the ltw trophy.
started racing some of the other cups for fun.. won the 350Z LM car (crazy brakes/grip). Then got the Option 350Z and gave it 900+ hp.... therefore making it nearly impossible to drive out of boost.

11% done since wednesday night.... and I don't want to put it down.

 

I wonder when I'll get to 11%...

This game is so involved it's not even funny... the driving experience and physics is teh great...

The one beef I have so far is the AI on other racers... sometimes they just run this 'pre-disposed' line and knock me off of mine. And they don't really give you the sense that they are trying to compete with you...

Bah, minor stuff when seen in the big picture that this game packs so much into one PS2 disc...

Oh, my mind hurts when I think what GT4 might be like on PS3

$20 or so on a memory card

I have to restrain myself constantly to keep from dumping another $100 into that logitech wheel/pedal setup...

 

I was thinking about trading my old PS2 and three old games (NCAA football 2004, Automodelista, GTA:SA) for the new slimmy...

Still contemplating about that.

hahahah... I felt like doing something similar last night... its funny how the game influences (or tries to influence) your driving in real life LOL... could cause some problems if you're not careful... I've had similar experience with other racing games too, lol.

 

hehe... this morning, I was walking to work, and I kept thinking...

"Why are all these cars not hitting a nice driving line at all the corners? And why are they going so slow and stopping?"

ok this game is crazy. I feel like my whole life has been in a timewarp since it came out. I woke up today (late) thinking GT4 had been out for about, a week or so. It's only been out for 3 days!!! wtf.... so crazy. work is definitely not helping, I get home and I'm not used to concentrating that much on something right after work, for that many hours. I sit down and play, the hours go by like nothing, all of a sudden its like 1:30am. I hope to get some serious gaming done this weekend - could be probs.

I picked up a few toys last nite - the Saleen is amazing!! and the modded M5...





ps. I definitely need to get another mem card...

 

Yea, my sense of time is kinda off... and the % complete for me (5%) really makes me feel like I've gotten nothing acheived
