transferring credits over from previous release is something Polyphony added due to feedback from players. Everyone was getting a bit tired of having to go through all the licenses (particularly the basic rudimentary ones) with each new version of the game. you are only getting license a & b, not like its a 'free ride'. I think its a great feature and I have used it to its maximum. And, I don't feel like I'm cheating, at all. I've paid my dues for the very basic GT tests already, I shouldn't have to do them again.

 

I kinda didn't plan for it... and took an unexpected day off last week... so I'm at work today...

So what did you people start with?

E46 M3, and bought a TypeRRrrRRrR.... that needed a damn oil change as soon as I got it on the track.

Oh yah... the M5 on the Ring...

 

I bought a Mitsu Galant VR-4........not so sure if it was a good idea. I've now increased by stable to a 99 Teg Type R that whistles when you get to 7000RPM (), and an SVT Lightning.

I played until 4 this morning... so tired. got A and B lisences, just got the teg, gave it an oil change, some upgrades... sold the polo and the Italian mini...

Oh, and I've only finished the Sunday Race series...

I tried running one race with the Sunfire at the FF series... waste of time...

There isn't a C6........I was pissed. You think it would be in there. They don't even have the Grand Sport anymore.....but they do have the older ZR-1 which I don't think is a good trade off for no C6

 

I tried running the FF series with the little Micro Italian car.........the race was worth 200 A-Spec points (!) but I got so owned it wasn't even funny.........

 

Yea, I sold it and the polo, and got the Type R with Mugen tuning for the FF series.

16 tests per licences sucks! I got the A, B, and iB so far. Finished the Sunday and FF races with the Type R - slight mods. This game is definitley GT2 meets GT3 plus some polish on it.

I need to get the component video cable so I can play in 1080i @ 60fps. I saw some pics comparing the 480p to the 1080i and it blows it away! I'm just using S-video right now.

I'm going down to my parents this weekend, and they have HDTV...

meh, didn't like the way the z06 handled in GT3 anyway......

 

they nailed the sounds in this game. NSX is dead on......

 

so i wasted 5k on nitrous for the M3 accidentally. bastages.

imma restart the game. 5k goes a long way here.

 

dude... that's scary... that's the first car I bought too. an '02 RX-7, white.

the sounds are indeed incredible in this game... and don't listen to what anybody else tells you - the graphics ARE better than GT3... for example, the trees. Race @ Tokyo - make note of the trees.... to me they are easily noticeably better-looking than GT3.

AND.. the physics. damn.

What mods have you done to it? I upgraded the sport suspension, exhaust, chip, turbo1, LSD. 270hp. Turbo spool is awesome. So cool....

yea def. Graphics are awesome. Was showing brother tree detail on the N-Ring.

We raced, m3 v. NSX on the n-ring. haha that was fun. we were all over the track. much fun. Two distinct exhaust notes from the m3 and the nsx....both perfect.

 

hah... I did race exhaust, turbo 2 or 3 (forgot), 470hp or so...

I bought a used 91 Prelude Si VTEC for FF races then a EVO MR which is a dream too drive.
One thing I hate is the way you can't buy a car test it out then reload if you don't like it. With GT4 when you buy a car you have too keep it even with auto save turned off.

just plug a USB flash drive into one of the USB ports ... so damn sweet.

When you take a pic and go to save it, it will appear as "USB Storage Device" under the save options. The default save quality for USB storage device is SuperFine, the highest available. Save the pic, plug flash drive into computer to transfer.

Supposedly its not compatible with all USB flash drives. I have specifically seen incompatibilities with the Sandisk "Cruzer" series. I just have a generic no-name 1GB flash drive, works great.

Has anybody played it on an HDTV with component cables in 1080i yet? If so how does it look?

 

I haven't even bought a car yet. After i was done with WoW last night i had about 45 minutes to play. I did about half the B license tests and went and looked at cars for a while.
