He had a deposit on a GPW/Tan AP2 years ago when it was brand new, but he backed out He enjoys driving the car but I don't think he would buy one now.
The FRS is running E85 now and the blower should be going back on soon. However, he's considering parting it out and getting a real performance car like a 997.2 or Elise He's all over the place when it comes to car. He's more indecisive than my wife trying to pick out an outfit.

The problem is settling on one car that does everything well. It doesn't exist!

I wanted one for the longest time since the first time i saw one in 99', I was 11 then. Ive recently test drove a few and love the feeling of the ap2. Not so much the ap1 just bc of the lack of torque around town.
Needless to say I picked up the tl instead just bc its more practical , as it would be me dd, and when I went and test drove an ap2 with the fiancee she was terrified of how low and how all the other cars felt so much bigger and was scared to get crushed lol. She said she wouldnt mind me getting just that she would never get in the car with me lol. I think I picked a bad example to take her for a drive in it was a modified ap2 lowered with blisten coils and a loud skunk 2 exhaust.
Stil hoping to pick up an ap2, but maybe further down the road as my 2nd/ weekend car. Or maybe ill just say F' it and just pick up the s2000 as my only car lol.

My wife didn't like the car at first but now she's in love even though she doesn't drive it. I think it would be harder to convince her to sell it than it would be to convince me to sell it.

Though it's certainly possible (a few on this forum do it), a S2000 is a terrible only car. It's a most excellent fun car though.

Have any of you guys traded in your s2000 for a type s?

just buy both!
Already got the Type S, now to find the s2k to pair it up with

I did the opposite, sold the type S for the S2000.

This is my second S. I bought an ap1 in gpw 6 years ago and it had basic bolt-ons. Sold it thinking I'd buy a larger vehicle but ended up in a stock sebring silver ap2 and I'm still in the same boat. Income or space doesn't allow for another car
#6857
Trying to find an oem lip in sebring silver is a pain in the ass to add on top. Where'd you get yours? Or is yours ssm...

J is correct, the TL was an automatic. I had it for 7 years and had an automatic CL Type-S before that. The TL was great but I've been wanting a S2k since I was 14.
As for transitioning between the two, you lose a lot, but gain a lot at the same time. No heated seats, stiffer suspension, more road noise, less MPG, minimal storage space, horrible speakers...the S2k is built around the connection between the driver and the road. Some creature comforts are there but I wouldn't call it lavishly equipped. But for all of the things you lose, you gain a connection with the car that's hard to describe. Instant throttle response, quick and precise steering, the feeling with the top down, manually changing gears, the insane VTEC crossover, the occasional thumbs up from people on the road or from other S2k owners...it's an awesome feeling that the TL never gave me. Minus an Alpine bluetooth headunit, my S2000 is completely stock, and I'm fine with it. Of course I would like some aesthetic changes but I don't think about them when I'm behind the wheel.
I've tried my best to put how I feel about the car into words, but it's hard to do. Drive one for more than just a few minutes and you'll understand. Another Acurazine member is visiting for New Years and he has a built FRS and a new GTI. Yesterday for about an hour or two, I drove his car and he drove mine. He pulled my car back into the garage and all he said was "I want one". I drive 72 miles round-trip to work and the S2k makes it fun and enjoyable. It's not a supercar, it's not the fastest thing on the road, it's not practical, but it's absolutely intoxicating in every way imaginable.

No sir, both came on car.
I'd honestly suggest that you just get the ebay one and see if you can somehow find the weatherstripping that the oem has above and make it work. Much cheaper and they look damned good.
Dave...damn right you can't!
right was oem, left is replica

I have a set of 19" SF Challenges that I have for the TL but need the centers powdercoated and get tires for them. Been almost 4 years now since they've been on the car. The only time I've wished they were 18's was when I bought the S. They'd look awesome on the S.

As mentioned, if none of you have taken your car to the track yet, DO IT. No matter how much you love your car, you will gain a newfound appreciation for it once you take it to the track.
Ideally, while you're there, talk to experienced track goers with similar vehicles (FR layout, lightweight, low torque). They can give you good tips on how to drive your car. Even better, ride along with them.

Good tips...I have a good group of local track guys I could go with to PBIR/Sebring.
Nice Buda! Only thing that sucked about the volks was the sizes...they were +48 18x7.5 all around on 225's...I got starstruck and bought them anyway, but the rears were WAY too small. I SHOULD have just split a set of rears with someone looking for staggered for an S/NSX but I sold them instead. Made some good coin on that whole deal too.

I haven't taken my S to the track. I really should but have been avoiding it as I'd probably want to do engine mods then and I'm probably going to keep her stock. That's really hard but I bought a unicorn and paid out the ass for her so want to keep her value.
Yeah, 7.5 is way to small on the rear. My volks are 19x8.5 +42. The diameter kills me on using it on the S. The width is good. Not sure about the offset. I haven't looking on to aftermarket for the S. I'm liking the Burnt Copper Pearl plastidip on them. Looks kick ass.

Any of you know a GPW s2000 owner that works or is visiting Blizzard Entertainment in Irvine?
I just saw clean one turn in there
