Stop lovin' my mom dude.
There's no doubt in my mind that I got my car enthusiasm & obsessiveness from my mother. My dad had absolutely no interest in cars what-so-ever ...

Car came with 2 sets of wheels on arrival, not sure why.
Currently in the process of looking for a clean set of AP2v2 wheels for her.

You know what's awesome about a hardtop on the S2000, Tyler?
Fucking NOTHING...it's heavy to lift off, daunting to not drop, have to store it...makes the car as unfun as when you HAVE to drive with the top up except you can't just pop it down at the next red light when the sun comes out.
You have a hard top on the Tacoma...if it's nice out, it's roadster time!
TOP ALWAYS DOWN > S2KOUPEFUKBOIS
Oh yeah, and they cost too much.

And visibility sucks with it big time.
It is very cool to have, but if I had one, I'd likely leave it stored in my garage, just like your A-Spec wheels, J. Maybe pull it out once every two years for a photoshoot of it on the car and that's about it.

That's it, man...and that's the point...I had it for a few photoshoots and then sold it for $3200...
after having to spend $500 to buy and install (21 hours!) a soft top that previous owner removed for "weight savings"...that and the cruise control module and wiper fluid. Little did he know new owner eats than that weight for breakfast.

yum...espelir springs and hard top...so pretty, I'll admit.
Come to think of it, selling the car's top is what allowed me to sell the entire car to Chip at friend pricing and still walk away with nothing out of pocket for the 10 months of ownership and modding (well, that and he didn't want the Advan)

Good points, J. It just looks SO good though.
I've considered buying those Espelir springs but with being a decade old with 103k miles on them, I'm scared they'll take a shit once everything is installed

It looks good but I didn't like the fact that I couldn't go top down on the fly. Sold mine and never looked back.

While I don't use my HT much I love it. It looks amazing on the car. LOVE the increased visibility through the rear vs the soft top. I have a DIY ceiling lift so storage is easy and I can put it on/take it off by myself. For the days were it's cold and you aren't going to run the top down, it's a perfect option as well as on the 110 degree days where the A/C rules all.
I put mine on for the storage during the winter as I know I want it on the car when I first take it out in the Spring. Sure you have to decide on when to use it and live with that choice, but it's not that bad and it changes the look of the car in a good way.
Happy New Years all, I'm partying it up in Chicago tonight!

I was definitely a moron for trading a LOW-MILEAGE 2002. I should have just kept it and added the NSX to my "collection". I could have afforded to.
I've still got the SSR GT1s in my basement, to put right back on it. My Tanabe exhaust is now sold and in California. I've still got my OEM S2000 cover.
So oonowindoo, go buy it. Now. Before I lose my resolve and pull the trigger. I don't want to be the car guy version of a "cat lady", after all! It's still well above what I traded it for, so I can tell you that you won't have to spend anywhere close to $20.

You have no idea...it's currently 7F outside and we got 10 inches of snow in the past week.
Visibility with the soft top is 100% in all directions...

While I wholeheartedly support the idea of buying that car back (you never should have sold it), if you are looking to sell your S2k cover, I'd be interested. PM me if interested.

J is correct, the TL was an automatic. I had it for 7 years and had an automatic CL Type-S before that. The TL was great but I've been wanting a S2k since I was 14.
As for transitioning between the two, you lose a lot, but gain a lot at the same time. No heated seats, stiffer suspension, more road noise, less MPG, minimal storage space, horrible speakers...the S2k is built around the connection between the driver and the road. Some creature comforts are there but I wouldn't call it lavishly equipped. But for all of the things you lose, you gain a connection with the car that's hard to describe. Instant throttle response, quick and precise steering, the feeling with the top down, manually changing gears, the insane VTEC crossover, the occasional thumbs up from people on the road or from other S2k owners...it's an awesome feeling that the TL never gave me. Minus an Alpine bluetooth headunit, my S2000 is completely stock, and I'm fine with it. Of course I would like some aesthetic changes but I don't think about them when I'm behind the wheel.
I've tried my best to put how I feel about the car into words, but it's hard to do. Drive one for more than just a few minutes and you'll understand. Another Acurazine member is visiting for New Years and he has a built FRS and a new GTI. Yesterday for about an hour or two, I drove his car and he drove mine. He pulled my car back into the garage and all he said was "I want one". I drive 72 miles round-trip to work and the S2k makes it fun and enjoyable. It's not a supercar, it's not the fastest thing on the road, it's not practical, but it's absolutely intoxicating in every way imaginable.
