at 80, 90, the AC is cold and car feels normal. at 100+, you might as well turn off the AC and just enjoy the car. That is what i did in the 6 years of ownership.

out of all the cars i have driven, S2000 is worst when it comes to sensitivity. It is very sensitive to weight and temperature.
So in the summer time when you have the AC on with your GF = GG

But as bad it is in the summer,i would not have it any other way. I love the fact that Honda put all of their effort into driving pleasure and performance and said fuck all comfort related component.
To be honest, I can tell when I have an extra 150 pounds in the TL too...but I agree, I guess the power/weight is much more sensitive in the S2000...also, I will say that normally, I drive everywhere with windows down and no AC in the TL...all year long and I live in South Florida. It's just my preference, but also probably why I feel like I'm just fine with the AC in the S2000. We shall see! As an only car, I could see things being a bit brutal, although more often than not, the S has been my preferred car even in conditions where the TL would be better.

When I ordered them, he was showing "Limited Stock Available", but now it just lists the front and rear emblems with a dropdown option for the sides. Its pretty crazy how it darkens the car up.

These are much closer to the Heeltoe Black Chrome emblems for the TL.
Thanks Dave!
Okay...didn't realize they weren't OEM...I had seen them on Heeltoe website a while ago, just forgot. Ended up with the OEM ones which are basically straight up black.

I put the one on for the fender I have on the car thus far...and wasn't sure about it, until I stepped back this morning and saw how well it flows with the black emblems and amber in heads and sides.

Yes sir...everything I could complain about with the car, I have to THINK about it to find something to not like...sure, I'd love a little more torque to shift low...I'd like better gas mileage, but you can't really find enough to make you not want to keep the car. You'll have the best of both worlds now...

I do the same...it's good enough blowing in my face at a red light when it's hot out.

how about weight? anything work better/worse for you rock? we have similar climates.

and I guess I mean engine smoothness.. not necessarily performance differences.

Well, I changed to royal purple during this down time so I can't really speak on it yet, but it idled real nice like when I backed it up and pulled it forward in the garage

I had redline before and it seemed just fine...I kept the same weight in there...10/30 IIRC

You like it Tyler?!
You ordered and installed it if I understood that right. That's it for me too...that added leverage to confidently put it into every gear is why I love it...especially since it's ALSO heavy.

It's a lot different than what I'm used to, but I like the added leverage.

No doubt it sits much taller than my last setup- at times I feel like I'm using a sequential shifter out of a rally car

LOL...were you able to screw it all the way down...it takes a firm grip and some serious mustard to get it screwed all the way down.

^ Yes sir, no metal threads are exposed on the shifter stalk - I honestly couldn't believe how hard it was to put on.

As soon as the shift knob was delivered to my work on a nice hot sunny day, I walked outside to my car to put it on. It occurred to me that, it's not every day you're sitting there in your driver seat, sweating bullets with a dead hold grip on a long black shaft.

Okay, seriously though...I am wondering if you're really supposed to just get a damn tap and die with the 12 x 1.5 or whatever and pre cut it.

I used my grip and kept going...but you need to go until the bottom of the black thing gets to the taper that gets bigger, then the knob will screw in low enough that the boot will almost touch it. to remove it, carefully use a channel lock on the NON threaded harder area of the black insert (if you ever do).

It'll feel tall...but I promise you, after a month, try putting your old one back on and you won't like it.

LMAO, hopefully you were low in the RPM in 3rd when you made that mistake...
Also, no more fighting 2nd notchiness when it's cold! Shift low RPM and this shifter until it's warmed up then it's all gravy.

So you like it!

I used to use a moddiction anvil knob but man, I think any lower than the stock position is TOO low. I know someone who had that knob in addition to a short shifter, and I swear the shift knob was BELOW the dash

Still have it if anyone wants to buy it. Call it $25 + shipping?

^^^Yeah, the one I bought was countersunk and I felt the same way...too low for my taste. That's a great price though.

few years ago i was doing some extensive research on oil for the s2000.

It seems #1 voted was Amsoil so i got some.

After 2 oil change (i changed it at every 8k miles vs. 4k with mobile 1), i can't say it is the best but it is definitely better than Mobile 1.

I laughed when i saw it says 15k oil change for track use and 20k for daily driven.

Oil change intervals are based on time frame when additives break down, that's the clumps you find in the engine when oil has been in there to long. The additives in question are what give you the winter rating, 10W, that's the W. Petroleum based oil (group 2) usually breaks down around 2-3000 miles, group 3 oil is petroleum based but goes through a different refining process which removes more of the sulfur and then is classified as synthetic (only in America) and this oil has a 5000 mile change interval. Group 4 is full synthetic or man made so its properties are different, it is possible to see 20,000 mile change intervals.

I don't have a comprehensive list of group 3 or 4 oils but I do know royal purple and amsoil are group 4, Mobil 1 was group 4 but switched to group 3 a few years back and just about all other synthetic branded oil you find in your local auto parts are group 3

yah sometimes it is tiring and AC barely works in summer time and the car feels like it is slower than a corolla with AC on.
If you mostly drive on streets then go with 4.77 gears won't feel like a corolla anymore, if you do a bit of highway driving then 4.56/57 gears if you can find them or 4.44

These 2 things kinda go hand in hand. The hankook v12's are a great tire for the money, hard to go wrong with them but....... The chassis and suspension on the s2 has loads of potential for whatever your driving style is. The BC coilovers are pretty good but they are still running a progressive strut in there that is prone to hydro lock. I have come to appreciate digressive struts. Bilstein and fortune auto both use digressive struts and IMO are the best 2 coilovers under $1,500 and why you ask? Slam the brakes on your car, you will see the nose dive. Go into a turn pretty fast and car leans to 1 side. Go into a long sweeping turn at 80 or 90 mph and hit a pothole, you will understand hydro lock instantly. All of these things are non existent with digressive struts and depending on your spring rate ride quality is still very good. Now back to the v12's, with digressive struts your car stays flat in turns so you will start doing exactly what I did, go faster and that's when the v12's just aren't cutting it anymore. If your car stays flat and well composed in a turn your tires grip becomes the only limitation. I personally can tell you I never thought I would take my max performance summer tires to there limit and then beyond but I did a few months after swapping my suspension.

My BCs are set to stiff right now, I don't have body roll and certainly no more than stock. Took a few 90+ turns over last weekend. Car is behaving beautifully on hard turns.

Need stickier tires though.

*Jeremy Clarkson voice* And here's a "top tip": if you find yourself in a S2000 with the top down, with a semi trailer blocking your way......duck! And you'll just make it underneath with nary a scratch on either you or your S.

You're welcome.

^OMFG! That cray cray!

Well, after a good mod weekend last weekend, the S did not fare well this weekend. I got my wind protector lit with LED strip lights, installed modifrys side marker mod and put on my black chrome emblems and "S2000 Topless" sticker! Things were looking good for the Panda Junction show this weekend.

Then on Friday I went to wash the car not realizing how hot it was from the sun. Heard a pop after the first stream hit it but didn't see what it was until I was drying and found an 8inch hairline crack in the windshield. FML. Insurance will cover all but $100. Fuck me again.

All was not lost and I got her all gussied up and ready for the weekend. Saturday night and L wants to go swing dancing. Now, I don't mind dancing and we are actually pretty good together but I just wasn't feeling this one. I went anyway cuz i knew she would enjoy it. Met some nice folks and started to relax a bit when some guy walks up. "Are you the guy with the real nice Honda S2000?". Aw shit. " I'm really sorry but my wife just backed into it."

Guys, I could not have parked further away from every other vehicle on that lot without being across the street! She was lurking a few feet away and came over when she saw I wasn't going apeshit on the guy. Telling me how she was on her phone with her kids, yadda yadda. So I take a long swig from my drink and walk out to look, telling the guy he needs to get his wife a backup cam. He tells me she drives a Pilot and already has one! I almost keeled over right there.

Damage turned out to not be too bad. She caught the front right wheel well at about 2 o'clock. Creased the fenderlip, with stress creases closer to the headlight and further back on the top of the fender. FML.

Turns out, dude is a Nationwide salesman. Starts feeding me the "You can use any of the Nationwide partner repair shops...". Um, no. I'll take it to the shop of my choosing. We'll see how easy he makes this.

The show turned out to be a fun time. I saw my friend Minh and his wife...Minh has a set of taillights he is selling me too. Was a gorgeous day and we had fun.

This week I'll have to deal with it all.

Upside? At least they had the decency and respect to come in and face you, I think many know the feeling of finding your car with a dent or scratch and not a clue to who what when or how. Doesn't sound to bad though, hopefully it will be taken care of without drama.
