Sorry to read of your S' troubles.

At least the perpetrator confessed. That's always better than a hit and run.

Yeah, I guess you're right...I'm just sour after messing my fender up by going too aggressive. Maybe down the line I'd pick up a more aggressive set, but I keep telling myself to just enjoy it as is and not go more aggressive.

on the rear though...I was rockin +28 effective with the TE's and 20MM spacer...not terrible! Just need a stretched tire if you're going to go really wide...the front was my bigger problem though...those fenders aren't meant to take a beating.

fenders are made of paper.

I mashed my AV6 fenders several times over 3 years... not a crease in sight..

the day I installed my coilovers on the S I bumped the driver front fender on the way home ever so slightly... i spent 20 minutes maneuvering the wave out of the lip of the damn thing... so weak

Yeah I need to have some paintless dent removal. It really doesn't help that our fenders are at butt height - you can tell they get sat on all the time

oh man I would murder..

I don't like people standing next to it much less leaning on it.

a girls sat on the hood of my first car in highschool and dented it and I've been paranoid from that day forward. (she was only 100-ish lbs too)

Boggles my mind that people do this. I see it all the time at C&C and I just don't get it.

The last car thing I went to I watched a mom encourage her kid to open my door and crawl in so they could get a picture. Luckily I have the loudest, most obnoxious air horn available tucked behind my bumper. When I hit the panic button not only did it scare the mom, but it made the kid cry. +1 for me.

Totally agree...to add to that should have walked up, squeezed her toosh, and asked her if it would be okay if you put your "kids" inside her.

Estimate is in! $926.07

I bet that bitch will use her backup cam from now on!

My only concern is the hardtopguy emblem I JUST installed. They are a Honda part, but may no longer be available from them. Looks like I can order a single piece from HTG for $35.50. I'll have to make sure his insurance adjuster knows about it.

Did it get ruined? Why not just remove and use an xacto and some double sided tape?

Ima try the boiling water and fishing line trick first. If it comes off cleanly, great. If not, the guy's insurance is buying a new one. He'll probably be buying a new one anyway. That'll give me one for the windscreen!

Okay Steven "Decal" Bell...calm your t*ts!

It'll come right off...I'm sure $30 won't make or break the claim so yeah, if they'll give you one, go for it. You don't even need boiling water, your emblem was just put on, park it facing the sun on a hot day and use some fishing line. Comes right off.

Its the "putting it back on" part that concerns me. The emblems on the TL were a PITA to put back together.

I've taken a few 10+ year old emblems off that seems to be cemented to the car...

thin fishing line worked every time.

Dave, it's not hard, man...get a roll of 3M double sided tape, a razor to cut the strips to size to fit behind the letters and bam, put them on. As far as alignment...S centered, 2000 about 1.5" over and 2" from the top fender seam. I used a piece of masking tape to mark exactly where each letter goes.

dem butts doh.

Nice rides!

As most of you know, I put new Ventus V12 Evo2s on a week ago and oonowindoo hit the nail right on the head - took much longer than I expected for break in.

At first, I did not like the tires - car felt very floaty and highway speeds and I noticed that the sidewalls are much softer than my last set of tires. Cornering felt sloppy and I didn't really have a lot of confidence in the car.

Up until a few days ago, the tires finally woke up - for All-Season tires, these things grip . For $600 mounted and balanced, I really can't complain of the performance these tires offer. Very comfortable for DD duties

Shifter feels great - took a week or so to get used to but now I'm starting to enjoy it.

I plan on changing out my transmission fluid on Sunday - the stock Honda MTF fluid isn't cutting it and even with the added leverage.

I'm going to go back to GM Syncromesh FM - Owners on S2ki are reporting that it helps with notchy shifts and based on personal experience, it made a huge difference in my CLS6 & Accord 6MT.

Anybody else use GM fluid?

^^^that was my FIRST mod to this car. Still a LITTLE notchy in certain RPM range shifts in 2nd while still cold...but silky smooth after that.

PS, it's not GM Synchromesh anymore.
it was always rebranded but you'll be hard pressed to find it unless you look up AC Delco

Also, do get yourself a little liter screw on pump to put the fluid in...IIRC it can't just be poured in like on the TL and others with a visible tranny from above.

I picked up some Honda high temp grease to do my shifter. When I changed the MTF and diff fluids (Honda and Mobil1), the shifter seemed a lot better, but its still not buttery smooth. Hoping a re-grease will help. What is this GM/ACD fluid you speak of?

+1 on the pump. You can source them locally pretty easily, too...WalMart, Advance Auto, etc.

I used the GM fluid for a while and it was a little better when cold, but the Honda MTF is far better when warm. The GM fluid got notchy when the transmission got hot and didn't last long at all.

^ Interesting.

At 125,000 miles, It's possible my 1st / 2nd gear synchro are on their way out - it's quite notchy when cold and they're bearable when warm.

^^^I don't find that to be the case for me at all. You sure you got the "with friction modifiers"? When warm, it's a slice of heaven. I also have only had it for 6 months and about 3K miles so I'm not an expert.

Dave, google it...it helps with 3rd gear issues on the TL and a vast array of other cars. Good stuff.

Previous owner tells me he greased up the shifter already so I skipped doing it. I already have the Honda High Temp Urea Grease as that's what I use a syringe to inject into my clutch master cylinder at the pedal to shut up the squeaking. Works like nothing else.
