Honda has not announced the end of the S2000, and so we are presuming that it will soldier on for another year. This is a pretty big issue on S2KI recently.

Well, at least I haven't thought about touching the RL anymore. It's perfect.

Mod #1 complete tonight: PA-HON11 with iPod wiring, XM Roady XT in the glove compartment, install of a 2-way alarm system. I feel slightly safer leaving the car in public now, and I can get my hourly CNN fix while in the S.

Mod #2...probably gonna be those Work Meister S1 2 piece wheels above, in 17" size. There simply aren't very many good-looking wheels for the S. Somebody stop me from buying them! Tell me they're too heavy, too ugly, or something!
I think the stock AP2 wheels look sick! Just put the spoon BBK on all four corners instead

neuronbob: My vote is for the CE28Ns.... they look so nice. This is like perfection IMO.... even the factory (?) lip spoiler is a nice subtle touch

https://acurazine.com/forums/showpos...&postcount=796

JJaber: get one of your parents to be a secondary driver on your insurance.... preferably the better driver My dad is the secondary on my car and he's only driven it once, cause it scares the crap out of him.... but the insurance guy doesn't know that! We actually got a before/after quote, it was $1500 for 6 months with just me on it (clean record) and $500/6m with my dad as secondary.

OK guys, I'm totally agonizing over wheels. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Looks or weight?

Work Meister S1 2 pc wheels (21#/23#) but looks pretty good (picture on previous page)
Prodrive GC-05-click or GC-06-click
Now I'm even looking at the new SSR Type C-RS--click
Definitely not the Volk CE28, too many people have that.

All are 17's in safe offset and other than the Meisters, are as light or lighter than my stock 16s. By the time I make a wheel decision, the cruising season will be over at this rate....and maybe that's not such a bad thing.

A 17 that weighs the same as a 16 is still going to cause a decrease in performance and fuel economy, in addition to unsprung weight and rotational mass you have to factor in axial inertia. I would leave it alone, I like all of the factory S2000 wheels, if you really want more performance buy better tires it will yield more performance then wheels. Trying to be original with bolt ons on a S2k is an impossibility, its rare to see one in stock form, everyone molests them.

S2000 on the track during a Ferrari meet

What an excellent driver, in a totally stock S2000. I need to take my little guy to the track at least once.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/zi_JpvvdGD0&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/zi_JpvvdGD0&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

From the description on YouTube:

Honda S2000 vs Maserati, Porsche, NSX, & Ferrari
Added: June 29, 2008
My completely stock (including stock tires) Honda S2000 laps Summit Point Raceway during a Ferrari Club meet. Passes Ferraris, Porsches, and Maseratis. Demonstrates what an excellent track car the S2000 truly is as well as how driving skill is a better ally than horsepower at the track.

Disregard the pass of the first yellow Ferrari 360. The driver was warming the car up. The remaining cars, however, were being driven robustly.

So apparently the newest AP2s have been tuned to have even less oversteer? I talked to someone who had one at the autocross last saturday and said he couldn't spin it if he tried

No one can agree about the differences, yes it has been changed and yes it is suppose to be less prone to oversteer, however those who had earlier AP2's and upgraded to 08's claim they can't tell a difference, other then the ride itself is a bit harsher. As for an inability to have the back end come around on a 08 I can testify that not only can it be done, but it is still very easy. With traction control on it keeps the car very "safe" it is hard to get yourself into trouble with it on, I wonder if the person from the autocross simply didn't turn it off

The video that nueronbob posted was interesting, I couldn't believe how much body roll that cambio corsa had! Must have been scary going into some of those turns. Seeing that video makes me wonder why they don't make a real CR, the current one, in my opinion is hardly different from the base model other then ricey mods. On the other hand if they made a model with a beefed up clutch, rear dif and supercharger for drivetrain improvements and then removed some of the luxuries to reduce weight they would have a real CR and then they can make a CR luxury, which would have the improved drivetrain and the luxury amenities of the standard model and of course they could charge more for these options and people would pay for it, I know I would have. The only reason I seriously plan on getting a new vehicle in a few years is because as much as I love driving the S2k, I want something with more power.

Amazing!

Great car 10 years later. I remember it was originally termed as the car you bought to get "The most Ferrari fun south of Ferrari prices".

I would rather have it new because its been my favorite car since it came out now i have some money saved up for a down payment and im going to be selling the tsx or trade in again if i get what i want. I will be able to cover the monthly payments and my parents got my on the insurance.

^ I would stick with $27k, i think they would do it.

Sick deal! But also keep in mind that they are offering .9% for 36 and 2.9% for 60 on new models.

So depending what rate you get on that 07 would make or break the deal. IMO

I agree with the Crazy one. You have found an uncommon (not rare) gem....a new 2007 S still on the lot. I haven't seen any in my area.

Here's some pics of my very humble radio mods.

Very happy with the work, with my ability to keep the stock HU and to maintain the use of the stock radio controls, even with some aspects of the use of the iPod.

XM antenna

The Roady XT fits PERFECTLY. It's was only $24.95 on closeout at Sears when I last checked.

The wires don't pinch on closing the door, and there's plenty of room for my iPod.

Keep in mind that the 07 is a few months away from being a 2 years old car, the $27k it was worth a few months ago I would feel is starting to drop. By September it will be more like $25k, at least to me.

As for saving $10k to buy a slightly used car that is only a few years old it isn't going to happen with a S2k, to me low miles is less then 10k miles. Its hard to find an AP2 with average miles for less then $20k, I bought a new 08 in December for $31k, no way in the world it will be near $21k(10k less then new) in 3 years, in particular in good shape with low miles. If you can get a good deal on one new, invoice or below, this is a fair car to purchase new, the big hit isn't that big.

I use mine as a daily driver and assuming you have no kids and don't need to store big things its a piece of cake. Every now and again something will come up that wouldn't if you had a larger vehicle, but for me it is so infrequent its not something I would base my purchase on. If you need to haul lumber, soil, furniture, plants, etc... this is not the car for you, but if you need basic sporting goods, groceries, etc... there is nothing to worry about. The trunk is fairly large and there are plenty of little storage compartments in the car itself.

So, can you fit two set of golf-clubs in the trunk? It sounds retarded, but that could be a deal breaker for me...

\

Considering you are getting an 07 with the traction control- I don't think you have anything to worry about. I have to drive my 04 (no traction control) pretty carefully in the rain, but I think that's the case with any RWD car. I DD mine and have no doubts about it.

Two golf bags go in if you take the longer clubs outs (driver and 3 wood). The passenger usually holds on to them.

oh yea and im talking the carry bags and not the caddy bags. I would think two caddy bags would be tough since they are usaully bigger.

Im going to the dealer at 1:30 to sign the papers. I dont think i will be able to pick it up until saturday though.
