Thanks Tyler..
doesn't help that I'm a bit of a maniac when it comes to installing stuff quickly...plus, I already knew all the mods that I liked from the previous one and it's my 2nd time installing the exact same thing so learning curve is a little shorter.
Stoked, my helmets came in! I was a little hesitant buying them on Amazon because I wasn't sure how the sizing would work, but XL fits me perfectly and I got a medium size for the gf
Hearing the exhaust this morning wasn't as harsh. Either way, found a huge crack on the flange of my stock cat...probably part of why it was so loud and clanky...gonna have that welded and try stock cat with the UK mod and see how I dig it.
Hearing it this morning, it's not as bad as I thought...
regardless I'm getting the stock cat re-welded...or ordering the berk high flow...
I think the main thing that's annoying me is that something is touching...maybe a heat shield or something...on the way back from the grocery store I did top up and I heard something at a certain rpm was making a sound from the spare tire area.
Actually...already ordered the CNT Racing high flow cat...200 cell count, metal substrate...mandrel bends...$120 shipped. I can live with that...Berk is double that price and no available for a month.
My only gripe with the Berk is the cost and the wait time...realistically, it's just a magnaflow cat...
I'll likely end up getting a high flow...better than the rasp that the test pipe introduces, although I really loved the sound more today. Maybe it broke in!?!?
I actually love the UK mod though...sound, no extra real cost...and the beautiful stock ap2 looks.
Either way...my good friend fixed the busted weld on stock cat so I'll try putting that back on unless I decide to re-order the high flow cat.
Is the sound from that video primarily coming from the UK mod or the test pipe?
I know S2000 with just a test pipe does not sound like that...Maybe it is a new thing.. never heard of UK exhaust mod.
Edit: did some searching on the UK mod... makes me wonder who came up with shit like that, cuz i know i do not stare at my exhaust to see which 2 pipes i can connect together.
Sounds good tho.

I can't honestly say...because I did both at the same time. BUT, that said...got the stock cat welded up where it cracked and I'm gonna throw that on today. I'll be able to tell you where it came from once I hear how it sounds after. There's a chance I'll reorder the high flow if it quiets it down too much.
Not gonna lie though...the raw sound is growing on me. Was fun driving in this morning...just a little more muted and no rasp/drone would be perfection!
I am not sure...I love the sound...think it might be weird out of one side only?!?!
Not a bad idea though!
I'm a weirdo...at $120...I pulled the trigger on the high flow cat. I know it'll bug me to be back to stock cat and skipping rasp on the test pipe will be a good thing.
stock cat back on...car sounds better but a little toned down. Somewhere between the test pipe and the stock cat is perfect. HFC ordered...
UK mod is a go though...if you want a little vrrom vroom sound from the back instead of only being engine sound...this is a no brainer. I love the ap2 stock exhaust look to begin with...and hate the cost of most of the dual aftermarket cat backs.
[QUOTE=rockstar143;15401978]on the way back from the grocery store I did top up and I heard something at a certain rpm was making a sound from the spare tire area. /QUOTE]
Did you check to make sure everything was tightened down on the spare itself?
Thanks Dave...actually, it was one of the extra portion of the clamp I used for the wrap I put on...I bent it up, and it's gone.
UK mod is a must have if you're not into spending oodles on exhaust. I needed a little more VTECFKYES...without too much for wife to hate the car again.
In other news...
Fenders are all rolled...liners trimmed...tab relocated and touch up paint applied.
I did my very first AutoX event today and it was a blast. SCCA throws a really well organized event and I was apart of the 2nd run group. Not only did I run 5 heats, I rode shotgun with other drivers to get more familiarized with the track (Other S2000s, Caterham 260, tuned STI w/ Hoosier slicks).
From the get-go, the track was not very well prepped and I was pretty much the only guy out there with worn out All Seasons (35 psi in front, 30 psi in the rear) Due to a thin coat of sand / dust on the track, it made for lots of understeer if the car's weight where it shouldn't have been and made for lots of oversteer if you gave it the VTAK (as demonstrated in the video below). Tommy Salami hit the nail right on the head, a front sway bar & some proper tires are absolutely essential.
A few other AP1 S2000s running Potenza RE11s / Dunlop Star Specs were posting around 62 - 64 seconds around this track. 5th run, I ran 66.2 seconds with my girlfriend riding shotgun
Times:
1: 69.3
2: 67.8
3: 67.7
4: 66.6
5: 66.2
After watching the onboard footage, I see a lot of areas of improvement (not bouncing the rev-limiter off first for starters )
There was an FRS on 17x7" RPF1s w/ RS3s (235 square setup) and he was consistently posting 62-63 seconds - an older Corvette Z06 was posting 62 on slicks .. so it ain't all about powah.

Once I get the car a little more prepped for AutoX I plan on attending more events in the future.
There was a woman in her mid 40s who was rocking an exact clone of your car - same color, black RPF1s, great tire setup, same ride height.
Seriously though...looks like a great time, man. Loved the video. Thanks for sharing.
Well, I got a killer deal on wheels I'd been eyeballing. Fenders rolled, bumpers trimmed, tab moved back...golden...no rubbing. Also put in the ecoated black premium centric rotors, cleaned up the pads, regreased everything and painted calipers black.
Thanks to Dennis' recommendation, I went Sumi HTR Z3...215/245 stock combo...wheels are 17*8 +45 and 17*9 +42 (funny, what I ordered was +35, which I was afraid wouldn't fit well...what arrived was 42 which wasn't even an option on the site. I was SOOO relieved! ).
Anyway
started with my mu lugs, but after painting caliper, I switched to the black ones. DSC_8397 by swimex37, on Flickr
Dave...trust me, you want the 38MM UK mod. in driving it around all weekend, I can tell you, it gives you a little of that vroom vroom sound out the rear that you crave, without the cost or giving up the great looks of the stock exhaust. Test pipe too much rasp...stock cat actually sounds great with it, but I had already ordered the high flow cat and it was shipped so I'll give that a shot. The crackling noises I was hearing were actually from the crack in the stock cat flange, and the deterioration of this weird white stuff (insulation) between the heat shield and the cat.
I've thought about doing some AutoX sessions, but for some reason, I'm not that into it. I know a lot of FRS/BRZ members on the forum are getting a great results from AutoX though.
