General Car Talk Discussion Thread
You wrote in a couple places you guys are getting the new oddy and new CTR. How come change to sienna now?
Also are are you gonna get the new sienna ? The current one is long in the tooth
RIP Audi Avant. I guess it was inevitable that you'd need to get something more practical.
I too am surprised you're not considering an Odyssey. I've heard good things about the new one.

If I ever got a van (never)
I'd get a Pacifica..
Just the fold down seats alone.
My brosef has the Town & Country (just before they switched back to Pacifica)
Super nice and convenient. Plus without a premium for nothing (ahem Sienna).

I love the way the Pacifica looks and the Stow and Go seats are the best on the market.
My main concern, which is probably everyone's, is what will a Pacifica be like in four years? Aside from badge snobbery, I don't know what the mid-term quality will be.
But all things equal, the Pacifica is my choice too.

As I said, I drove a fully loaded Pacifica. (Limited) The money you pay for that is well worth it. Touring-Elite Ody is near 50k.
I think I was low 40 when I priced out the Pacifica. My main concern is the reliability. I still find it strange that it used to be an SUV and now Minivan.
My old co-worker got a 17'' Touring L-Plus for a steal. If I was to somehow convince the wife I would try to snag a 17..
I've also seen some Pacifica's bagged already.

With the rear view camera (night vision), if you are driving at 10pm, you can see what your 3 month old is doing, instead of having to pull over, and check on your child.
Then again our 1987 Toyota Master Ace, had none of these features. It was mid engine, RWD, engine under the driver seat, dual sunroof, captain chairs that fully swiveled so you could play a card game on a road trip, and cool ice box.

Man, fuck those guys. Assuming the owner lives downtown there, I wonder why they didn't get locking lug nuts. I certainly would.
Then again, I don't think I'd ever own a CTR if I lived in the city... or at least a garage would be required.
Sad to see though. At work there's a black CTR at the business along side us. So every day I look at a white Focus RS and a black CTR. Holy

I know! The Avant has been so perfect.

Wife doesn't like Chrysler.

+2015 Sienna SE or XLE with around 30k miles can be had around $24k. These are the ones I want.
Want to keep it for a long time and seems like these Siennas are very reliable. Have so many friends who have these cars. haha
Tell your wife to stfu and look at the car before making judgements. And as you said, she is getting her car and this for the family.
PS: the Pacifica can wear 20s...and not hinder the ride quality.

only garages will stop theft of wheels.
dont leave your shit on the skreets!!
funny, enough...i pass through an apartment complex on the way to work, where ppl park their shit on the street..not even inside the complex...
every morning, there's always at least one shattered window.

I have seen dome really questionable decision making regarding street parking here in DC. There's a brand new M4 on my street. I've seen current generation 911s and even a Ferrari California parallel parked overnight in Georgetown.
As much as I agree with Sarlaac but with milder language, I don't know how you convince someone who is clearly not interested in a brand to consider it. Especially when the vehicle in question is so new that there's not a lot of rational evidence to back up an argument.
When I was thinking about the Buick TourX, my wife shot down the idea right away because it's American. Then I started showing her JD Power and Consumer Reports data and she changed her mind due in large part to the fact she had no idea that Buick was a top five brand in reliability categories most years.
How do you do that with a Pacifica? I don't know. I do know the top trim Pacifica is my favorite looking and engineered minivan on the market right now.
But then again my wife would rather drive Fred Flintstones's car than own a minivan ...
