Agreed but if the Accord becomes my dogmobile, then I don't care how quick it is. I can put a hitch on it and carry my bikes around.

And then I can look at something more interesting as my primary car ...

That's the tradeoff of having dogs. If I have one car, I have to accommodate them and have it be everything else I want in a car.

If I have two cars then I can split the requirements

Meh...BoostedJack/Altegris have about 23478 Poopdicks each. There's more in their garages.

ROFL, Chris Harris is destroying some dudes on Twitter for stealing footage he shot and then splicing into their own videos. It's awesome to call out these fucksticks for plagiarism.

Though it seems to me other automakers' recalls are up as well. They just don't get nearly as much media coverage.

The Odometer – Road trips were never the same after 1854, when Nova Scotia inventor Samuel McKeen created a device that measured distance with every revolution of a carriage wheel. Though to be fair, everyone from Vitruvius to Ben Franklin were also working on this one.

Lexus is going to release a 2.0T into the NX crossover. I'm assuming this engine is coming to the IS at some point soon too. 235hp and 258lb-ft. That is a much better option than the IS250 and would keep it competitive with the turbo-4s in that class from ze Germans, Cadillac, and Volvo.

First of the Japanese makes to put one in a "mainstream" model... interesting.

Question: What are the dynamic downsides to wider tires, if any?

I would imagine more rolling resistance but then that creates extra grip too.

There is an impact on handling with turn in if you get too wide. I remember reading about it a while back, but don't remember the specifics.

You also have an increase in weight which may impact your acceleration and mpg.

Wider tires also are worse in snow. They spread the weight over a larger area and can have less traction.

With each car and application there is an optimal setup. If you go too extreme it will eventually have some downsides.

I was going to say the same thing as the post above me, but to add... higher chance of tramlining (when your tires follow the grooves in the road and you have to correct with steering)

Saw my first Aventador in person back on Thursday. I was in the city driving past Michigan Ave on Chicago and saw it ahead, but unfortunately I could not get my phone out in time. Glorious white coupe.

Also saw a black MP4-12C Spider on the way home from work a few days before that.

More meat = more grip, heavier, and less nimble "feel".

Personal experience: if you launch a car, wider tires will provide the grip it needs to "Shoot" the car out and of course, corners faster with more confidence.

Daily drive with "normal" cars: It actually feels like the cars with skinner tires will accelerate faster from a light (Without launching) because it has less grip to hold you back and lighter.
But cornering feels scary.

I just had a Hyundai Accent with 175 tires this past week in Vegas. The acceleration is surprisingly decent but the car feels like it wants to spin out in every corner.

I've seen a couple of MPC-12Cs...but, nothing like the F1. Still, in person, any of these exotics are just breath-taking.

I've only seen 3. A white Spider near my neighborhood, 1 at C&C last Saturday (does that count? ) and 1 in an upscale shopping area near my house.
