I'm not ignoring it...I'm, frankly, a little pissed off. As far as I can gather, it was not self-imposed.

He posts about them sometimes. But usually he'd fade out, rather than just drop off the face of AZ all of a sudden. The other question is, how long is it for?

So, we've gone to lengths in the past discussing whether the ZR1 can be called a supercar. I personally felt, just from the specs and pictures, that the car was deserving of "supercar" status. Well after spending a good hour with one last night, with highway and city driving, I can tell you my thoughts, I have a different impression. Is it fast? well sure. Very fast. But, it feels just like any other GM. Any other Corvette. It doesn't feel like (I think) a car in this price bracket should feel. The power is nice, but other than that, it doesn't really give any feeling that its a special car, or a supercar. You don't get the *feeling* that you are driving, a super car. It rides really smooth, is easy to drive, clutch is surprisingly light, shifter is very good. But the difference to spend a little more and get something like a used R8 V10 or something is staggering. I'm very curious to see how the C7Z06 drives. Are these factors that were resolved / subdued with the refinement and improvements of the C7?

The difference is in where they spent the money in what they ask for the car. There's a reason you can get a either a brand new ZR1 or a used R8 V10 and it certainly isn't the engine. FWIW, the ZR1 is probably faster than the R8 V10 and isn't that what defines a super car? Speed, ability, and a sky high price tag (for us mortals).
Also, driving the ZR1 on public roads won't give you what the car is meant to do. The R8 V10 is a cruiser. Sure it's pretty good on a track but it's mainly designed for people who want to go down the freeway on their way to the 5 star restaurant of the night to one up their friend that only has the V8 version. The ZR1 is a sports car and as such is meant to go fast without concern for anything else. No fvcks are given about comfort, fuel economy (the chevy still is better), or rear tires.
Also, the chevy will be cheaper to maintain.![rofl](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/rofl.gif)
FWIW, everything I've read about the ZR1 says that it's too much of a handful to live with on a daily basis and one is better off getting the Z06 instead.

just my opinion.
the R8 is a great track car and you can rip it up. get a manual V10 and you have a serious machine. It traps around 125 mph, the ZR1 traps around 130. I have never got the impression the R8 is a car you take to the restaurant.
R8 will be harder to maintain for sure, but don't forget about the exotic-style parts the ZR1 has on it as well.

Yup and just mine too.
The R8 is a fantastic car and by no means a slow one, I would not be upset if I owned one but you have to admit that 99% of the people that own it don't even think about the track.
Yes there are exotic parts on the Chevy but most of the other parts are straight from the Aveo. One of the plus sides of getting an expensive car from a company that also makes cheap ones.

I can't afford it at the moment but if and when I can, no, that won't change, I won't be making purchases based on what others are doing or thinking. Why would I do that? I will drive the cars I'm interested in and make decisions based on that experience. I can tell you right now, I wouldn't buy a ZR1.

We can re-visit this issue once we become multi-millioners
I suspect that our rational and car requirement will be dramatically different from now.
Think about how you buy and view things in your late teens or early twenties and compare it with it now.
Wealth changes everything for 99% of the ppl out there.

if I was a multi-millionaire, I'd be the same person, I'd just have a stable of nice cars and a nicer house. and lots and lots of camera gear. I'll tell you that right now.

That s what all non-multi-millionaire say, including myself.
your social circle and everything else, i mean EVERYTHING will change during or after the process of becoming that rich.
This process will definitely change you or you probably have to force yourself to change in order to become that rich in the first place.
Of course unless you win the lottery.

I'm a car enthusiast, and last time I checked I'm pretty sure all of you are too - that's why I post about driving the ZR1, post photos of it, talk about it. If you didn't notice some people wanted to know about the car and how it drives etc. It's the internet dude, everyone wants to be a superstar. You think I'm seeking attention? Have you even looked at what's going on all over the net, 24/7/365? I'd like to give you some advice, don't pay attention to me or what I post.

That being said, have you seen Acura's A-Spec site? It makes the Lexus F performance offerings look amateurish. Oh, wait....

Blancfleet Aims To Be The Next ZipCar, Add Bugatti And Pagani To Fleet
If you want to feel like a million dollars for a day, you could do a lot worse than to hit up one of the many companies offering supercars for daily rental. But until now, barely any have actually offered million-dollar cars on their fleets—making Blancfleet's supercar hire business extra special.
Blancfleet founder Charles Polanco says the company hopes to become "the next ZipCar", though your average ZipCar fleet doesn't allow drivers behind the wheel of a Bugatti Veyron or Pagani Huayra. The company's business plan is already an unusual one, side-stepping some of the usual supercar rental drawbacks with its crowdfunded setup. As the company announced back in May, Blancfleet actually buys, rather than leases the supercars on its fleet. The firm allows each car a certain number of rentable hours per year, and money made from these hourly rental periods is used to pay for the cars.
The company also notes the difficulty in obtaining insurance when you're renting out ultra-valuable supercars, when the potential damage caused in an accident can escalate beyond that of the average house. For the renter, liability insurance is rarely high enough to cover such damage, and the huge deposits many supercar rental firms place on vehicles means even the smallest incidents can hit the customer for thousands of dollars. To make its own process more attractive, Blancfleet self-insures its cars—all costs are rolled into the price of the hourly rental rate, and risk is spread across the hundreds of people who've crowdfunded the business.
Of course, hiring a supercar, even for an hour, still isn't cheap. If you want to rumble around New York City in a Bugatti Veyron or cruise the streets of Fort Lauderdale in a Pagani Huayra, you'll pay $1,325 and $1,040 per hour respectively, once enough people pledge hours to afford the cars' lofty price tags. You could have a lot of time in an $83-per-hour Nissan GT-R or even a $204-per-hour Ferrari 458 Italia for the same price (both vehicles are already in Blancfleet's garage). But the important thing is that you will actually be able to rent a Bugatti or Pagani if you've got the green—and you really will feel like a million dollars while doing so.

That means the company itself pays for damage that the renter's own policy does not cover. Every rental car company is "self insured" below a certain amount depending on the insurance policy, so that insurance applies only after damages exceed the threshold amount-- similar to a deductible.
Most medium and large businesses are self-insured for some amount before the commercial insurance coverage begins.
Example: If you cause $4,000 damage to a rental car, the rental company will pay for repairs itself and won't be covered by its insurance policy.
If you're at fault when your rental hits a Veyron and totals it, the rental company's insurance carrier will pay-- unless the company is self insured to $1 million and the Veyron's value is less.

So not completely self-insured in the literal sense, just a very high deductible?
Thanks. Learn something new every day.

i really like the RC-F.
But it is probably out of price range since it is gonna be more expensive than ISF.
